"How's a girl supposed to get a little sleep in here?" Thank whatever Gods that be that she's wearing a black and white striped outfit consisting of pants and a shirt and slip on shoes rather than the orange. Could you imagine the orange clashing with her hair? "Who's the comedian with the tin cup on the bars." Shauna has been in the cell since early the day before and she sounds groggy and tired.
"Tin cup? I don't hear any tin cup," comes the word from Rick as he's making his way past the cells. He looks a bit thoughtful as he glances into each of them, just in case there's someone actually with a tin cup. "Don't see anyone with a tin cup either," he remarks, as he stops in front of the cell Shauna is in.
Shauna gets to her feet and saunters over, a hand on two different bars as she looks through them at the man. "Are you a detective or a beat cop?"
Studying the woman carefully for a few moments, Rick offers a smile. "Just one of the ordinary ones, not something special like a detective." It's offered a bit quietly.
"Beat cop then?" Shauna found someone to talk to, she seats herself on the floor and looks up at him, knees bent. "Are you from around here?" She's definitely not.
"Yes," Rick replies, before he shakes his head a bit. "And no, not from around here. You're not from around here either, right?" He shrugs a little after a few moments. "What did you get put in here for?"
"Not originally. I moved here a couple of months ago from Seattle. Before that, Galway Ireland." Shaune rests her arms on her knees. "What did I allegedly do? Resisting arrest." That's part of it.
Rick nods a little as he listens. "Ireland. I haven't been there, but some people I spoke to in the past spoke of how nice it's there." he offers, before he raises an eyebrow. "Resisting arrest?" Does he sound slightly curious? Perhaps.
"It's really green there." Shauna mutters, "Next thing, do you know why it's so green there? Because it rains there. All. The. Damn. Time." Definitely not amused. "You know, kind of like here." Her shoulders roll in a light shrug. "Yeah. Resisting arrest. Old Mexican guy wasn't amused."
Rick grins. "Well, some places gets too little rain, some get it all, I guess." IT's offered a bit quietly, before he raises an eyebrow again. "I see. What happened to make you resist arrest, then?" Still sounding a bit curious.
"Bordom." Shauna flashes him a mischievous smile. "Didn't feel like stopping? I don't know. Take any answer, multiple choice and it'll probably fit. Why'd you become a cop?"
"I see," Rick replies. "Is that a habit, then?" It's asked a bit lightly, before he smiles. "WEll, my childhood hero was a cop, so I decided to follow in her footsteps."
"Not something I make an everyday habit of, but sometimes impulsive wins out. Aren't you ever impulsive?" Shauna studies him, "Childhood hero? Care to talk about it? It helps to pass the time."
Rick smiles momentarily. "Well, I sort of spent some years drifting from town to town, all the way across the country, so I guess I can be impulsive at times." There's a brief pause, before he shrugs a bit. "My mother. Although she was killed while at work when I was ten."
"My parents are still currently in Galway. I don't know what I'd do if I lost one of them." There's only a touch of sympathy there but Shauna shows a little. "So you traveled all over to forget the loss of your mother?"
"Well, that was later, after a few... other things happened," Rick replies. Glancing down the corridor for a few moments, then back to Shauna. "So, what made you end up in this town, of all places?"
"I lived in Seattle awhile. Went for a drive one Sunday. Never went back. Just came here and stayed. No particular reason. I'm not even working here yet anywhere, but I'm looking for work." Shauna confesses. "So what other few things happened?"
Rick nods, "I see. What kind of work?" A brief pause, before he shrugs a little again. "Well, I lost my father in an accident. Then I messed up, leaving my partner badly injured..."
"A little of this and a little of that. I really want to get in a gym, do you know of any? And I do mechanic work. Pretty damn good at it." Shauna studies him a moment, taking what he says and turning it over in her mind. "Why? Why did you leave her badly injured?"
Rick sighs. "I was too impatient, and so we didn't wait for backup to arrive. Shots were fired, she got badly injured. They said she'd never be able to walk again. They said I wasn't to blame, but..." He trails off, shaking his head.
"But you blame yourself and you ran away from it?" Shauna tries to input what it is she reads in the situation. "So since you've moved on, have you spoken with her? Reached out at all?"
"Something like that, yes," Rick replies, a bit quietly, before he shakes his head a bit. "I haven't gotten around to do so..."
"If I had my phone right now, I'd throw it to you. I don't so.." Shauna quirks a brow. "No time like the present."
Rick sighs. "I'm not sure... Bad things happened when I left..." He trails off, looking around for a few moments. "To be honest, I haven't really spoken with people back home after I left."
"No one? I bet you're on some random missing persons show there then. Whatever happened to.." Shauna looks towards his name on his shirt. "You," she says instead of reading out his name or rank. "So, want to arm wrestle? I win you call. You win, I'll shut up about it?"
"No, they know I left town, not just where I went, since I didn't know that either," Rick replies, shaking his head again.
"So care to make the wager? I like gambling." Shauna had already named the terms, but she did notice he didn't seem to be taking it.
Rick looks thoughtful for a few moments as he listens. "So, did they say anything about how long you¨d be stuck in there for?" he asks, after a few brief moments of pause, offering her a smile, before he sighs a bit. "I'm not a gambler, really..."
"No one has said anything yet, I assume I have to see a judge first, I guess. He'll set bond. I'll find a bail bondsman and get out if I have the money." Shauna shrugs. "That's no fun, no gambling."
Rick nods a bit as he hears that. "Let's hope it happens sooner, rather than later." A brief pause as he hears the last part. "Other things are fun, though. Riding a motorcycle, for example." He shrugs once more, unable to hold back a grin.
"I drive a Jeep but I suppose I have to come up with the money now to get it from impound. Man, do you know of anyone who is hiring a mechanic? Or anything?" Shauna asks.
"I'm not sure. I think I know of one or two mechanics, but I don't know if they hire people. I know there's a gym in town, though. Since you mentioned those before as well."
"I guess my next question is do you know anyone who accepts employees with a record?" Shauna smirks a touch. "Or even at the gym/'
Rick sighs momentarily. "To be honest, I don't know the business owners too well. But I'm sure some of them won't mind. There are some good people in this town, for all the rest of the things about it."
"The rest of the things about it?" Shauna gives a light shrug. "Same old thing as any other town isn't it?"
"Well, for one, more things seem to happen here. And a hgiher crime rate than many other places," Rick replies, offering a brief smile. "So there's some oddities."
"I heard some buzz through here earlier about murders on Friday the 13, is there truth to that?" Shauna looks curious now as she questions him about it.
"There's been some murders, yes. Not much more I can say about it, though," Rick replies, nodding momentarily
"Alright then I won't ask. If you see that Mexican guy can you send him my way?" Shauna walks back over and has a seat on the cot. "I may try and take a nap till then."
Rick nods, "Will do." There's a brief pause, before he adds, "I'm Rick, by the way." Since he didn't introduce himself earlier.
"Officer Rick. I'm Shauna. Shauna Carrick." Course he could find out her name pretty damn easy. He had access to all the paperwork. "It was nice meeting you, Rick."
"A pleasure to meet you too, Shauna," Rick replies, offering her a brief smile. "Take care, and I hope you'll get out of here soon."
"Thanks. Maybe I'll see you when I'm wearing something other than stripes. Next time could you bring me a file maybe?" Shauna laughs lightly. "Or something to dig my way out."
Rick grins, "But if I let you try to dig your way out, I'd have to arrest you again, and then we'd both have more work," he offers, lightly. There's a brief smile before he adds, "See you on the outside." And then he needs to go to take care of other parts of work.
