Everyone's favorite reruns on local network television is rudely interrupted by a SPECIAL UPDATE!

The screen closes in on the steps of City Hall in the bright morning sun with a well put together, young, blonde woman addressing a small group of reporters.

The chyron reads: "BREAKING - District Attorney issues statement on murder investigations."

Then a stationary title bar informs viewers that the woman is Cassidy Bennet, Assistant Districts Attorney for Grays Harbor County.

Cassidy reads from a prepared statement, "Today's announcement is concerning a recent spate of homicides in the township of Gray Harbor, four of which occurred on September Thirteen, Two Thousand Nineteen.

"The Districts Attorney's Office has been provided with sufficient information from Gray Harbor PD to suggest that the double homicide of Pam and Karl Kruger - which took place that evening at the Sea View Motel - is an event unrelated to the other homicides, and so has directed the Gray Harbor Police Department to conduct a separate investigation to locate the perpetrator responsible and bring them to justice.

"To recap: on Friday, September 13, 2019, Pam and Karl Kruger were murdered in the lobby of the Sea View Motel. The husband and wife were to meet with environmental lawyers concerning the habitat of Cutthroat Trout.

"The DA's Office asks that anyone who has any information about this case get in touch immediately with the Gray Harbor Police Department."

She looks up from the statement and folds it away, awaiting any questions. She selects a mousy looking reporter with a disheveled look and cliché notepad, ' What is the status on the murders that may have associated with 'The Ghoul'?"

Cassidy shakes her head, "The DA's Office has no comment on on going investigations, and I believe the Mayor addressed those rumors as well...." she looks around, "Yes?"

A hard-nosed female reporter with wild hair and conservative clothes, 'Why has the Gray Harbor PD not commented on the investigations?"

Cassidy speaks clearly, "Releasing details about on going investigations is at the discretion of the Gray Harbor PD and I cannot speak for them, but I can assure you they are working diligently and following all available leads and are providing regular updates on the status of the investigation with prosecutors."

A random blogger with an iPhone pointed at the proceeding speaks up, "Ms. Bennet, is it true that the victims were preparing to provide expert testimony at an injunction hearing concerning the development of a water based casino?"

Cassidy shakes her head, "The DA's Office cannot comment on the specifics of the case or any rumors about motive." She takes a breath, "Okay. That's all for now."

The ADA packs up her papers into a portfolio and steps away back into the City Hall ignoring additional clamoring of the reporters.
