Coffee is not as good as waffles after a hard night at work, but one makes sacrifices, especially since Mae isn't allowed in the Waffle House at the moment.
She steps in, already rustling around in her purse to pull out her wallet, stepping up to order, her hip leaned against the counter. "I'll take a large caramel frappe and a blueberry muffin please. Thanks." She puts down payment for the items and then tucks her wallet back in her purse. Her phone buzzes and she picks it up to give it a brief glance, but it's apparently nothing important because she doesn't answer the call or return the text.
Her items are made quickly and she takes them, heading toward a table, dragging out a chair with her foot to take a seat on.
Park arrives...and immediately gets stared at by the counter staff. Why? Because she is still in that Devil costume from work. No change of clothes for her. The large wings still wobbling as she bounces in. "Good morning! Can I have a thickshake, please. Ummm...strawberry tonight." Now, where did she put her wallet? There it is. In with her laptop.
Park glances around while her order is being made. "Mae!!" she greets across the room. Loudly. "Can I come sit with you?" She has to make sure that the dozens of men who hang around Mae normally aren't all at the bathroom or something.
Mae glances up and spots Park, eyebrow quirked slightly. "Hey Mee." She greets, crooking her finger toward the woman in the devil costume. "Why are you being so loud?" She asks, laughing softly in her direction. She's getting a mikshake, oh boy, more sugar. "Quiet your ass down and come over here and take a seat. Did you have fun tonight?"
She slips her phone back into her purse, pushing it halfway closed. "Your costume was super cute."
"Was I being loud?" Park 'whispers' apologetically before taking her thickshake and headng on over. "It was soooo much fun" she nods excitedly as she sits. "You were..." Sigh. "...absolutely amazing. Like always. How do you do it?" A loud suck on her straw before looking over her costume. "Thanks. I made it myself. There goes all my grocery money for a week. Did you have fun? I mean, you must do, since you're so good and you're doing something you want to do. Right?"
"You were being a little loud, but it looked like it was on purpose." Mae smirks as Park takes a seat, her head tilting to the side when the woman compliments her. "You're very sweet, Mee. I had a lot of fun, that's pretty much what it's about. Having fun." And making money. "Wait.." She raises a brow. "You gave up your grocery money for a week, how are you going to eat?"
She narrows her eyes slightly and tugs on her purse, pulling out her phone which buzzes in her hand. She also starts pulling out bills. "Can't not eat for a week, the fuck."
"Oh, gosh, I was only teasing about the food. I still have money for Kimchi and that's all I need. But you were going to give me some money?" Park's lower lip wobbles as she's overtaken with emotion. "You're so sweet. Like an angel. Please, it's all okay."
A suck on her straw before Park nods at the phone. "Don't you want to answer that?"
"Teasing or not, you're going to take some of this. I don't tip you girls enough anyway." Mae takes three bills from her purse, holding out the twenties toward Park. "Get yourself something other than kimchi, all right?" She waggles the money, lips pursed. "I'm serious, if you don't take it I'm gonna text Ico and make him take it and buy you food. Do you want what he buys you, or what you can get for yourself?"
She glances toward her phone, chuckling softly. "It's a text, and I'll get it." She does, in fact, pick up her phone and let her fingers dance over the surface as she rapid fire returns a few text messages.
"You don't have to tip me at all, honestly" Park pleads but it seems that Mae is serious. With much reluctance she takes the money, offering a bashful, but appreciative smile. "Thank you, Mae" She tucks the money away in her corset. "Lyric and Scott live in the same room too" Park points out. "But, no, I don't want McDonalds for the rest of the week. Hey, did you have your movie night?"
"It's how things are done, Mee. You're just going to have to accept it." Mae reaches out to brush her fingers over Park's hand, giving her a brief, gentle squeeze. "We haven't done the movie night yet, ran into a snag. My house is a bit of a battlefield right now. So we might have to have it where I'm staying." She props her chin on her fist, and gazes across the table, answering another text before she pulls of a piece of muffin. "Why babe, you wanna come over for it?"
"A snag? Your television broke? That sucks" Park nods in sympathy before some more sugary thickshake goodness is ingested. "Do people fight in your house?" Why would it look like a battlefield? "Where are you staying? Oh my gosh, listen to me being all nosey and stuff. It's none of my business." At the potential of being invited to come along to hang with the coll women she knows, there is more blushing and awkward looking at the tabletop. "I wouldn't want to intrude. Especially if it's a date or something."
"More like my roommates think I'm the Queen Bitch of Hell, and have asked me not to come back for a while." Mae rolls her shoulders, grinning toward Park. "How is that for being an angel." She picks up her drink and takes a sip, shrugging before she sets it down on the table. "It's not a date, it's going to be a group of people, watching bad tv while eating excellent food. You like Love right? She'll be there, so will Dylan and the dumpling guy from the bonfire and the pool.." She purses her lips and picks up her frappe again. "We're having chicken burritos. You like those, right?"
Park is shocked. Shocked! How could anyone think Mae is a bitch? "If you live there...and pay the rent...how can they stop you coming back? I think there is something wrong with them." She sniffs, convinced of this fact. "So it will be you, Dylan, Love, and Viktor." Park narrows her eyes at the woman across the table. "You sure that isn't a double date" she giggles. "Of course I love Love. She's sooo sweet and smart and pretty. Just like you." A nod about the food. "Who doesn't like Mexican food? When do you think it will be? I have to check my social calendar of course. Or get one."
"I think I might be moving out, I've been staying somewhere else for a while anyway." Mae wrinkles her nose cutely for a moment, bringing her cup and straw up for another sip. "There will be other people, I'm sure of it, once the menu gets out. It's not meant to be a make out date where we just drag other people in to witness it. Poe should be there too." She brushes her hair back away from her face, tucking it behind an ear with her finger. "A few days, not sure. You let me know when you can make it, and we'll have it close to then. I'd like you to be there. After all, the place I'm staying is right next door to you guys, I've seen you go in and out."
"You live next door to us? Oh wow! How excitement! Maybe we could link the houses and have, like, a street of fun!" Park is getting dangerously intrigued by this idea. "Knock the fence down to create a walkthrough." Her mind lost in thought for a few moments before she is back in the room. "Poe? He was showing off his chest tonight" she giggles. "It's usually only the girls who do that. I should be able to make the next couple of days at least. I think. What are we watching?"
"Not my house, you'd have to ask Dylan about that. Rink? He might say no." Mae sips from her cup to keep herself from giggling at the idea. "Poe likes to show off his chest and arms, I think he finds it to be sexy. I mean, it is very sexy. Poe just isn't my type, and he's taken." She leans against the table and shrugs. "Hannibal or something, a television show? I have no clue. I'm just there for the chicken burritos myself."
"So you live with Dylan? Like, you know, live live." That has Park giggling to herself again. "So sweet that you're together. I guess Cameron was right. Will Poe be bringing his girlfriend? Boyfriend? Whatevs?" A roll of her eyes at him being sexy. "He's not all that and a bag of chips. It sounds like I'm going to be the plus one here." Her brow furrows. "Hannibal? All three seasons in one night? That will be a long party. Who is cooking the burritos?"
"Sweet, I guess. He's a good guy." Mae glances away, making an attempt not to grin or start screaming. She takes a drink from her cup and quirks an eyebrow. "Cameron was right about what?" She shrugs about if Poe is going to bring a plus one. "I don't know that he is or not, you'd have to ask him. He is pretty cute though, just my opinion." She nods about Hannibal. "I'll probably fall asleep after a few episodes. I want to watch Stranger Things." She leans back and considers. "Love? I'm not sure, we might be ordering out."
"Cameron said your auras were connected of something" Park 'explains' about how the woman saw the relationshp between Dylan and Mae. "I couldn't see any auras so she must have really good eyes. The auras were complementary colors or something. So she was right about you being together. That's so romantic." She sighs longingly before another loud suck on her straw.
"We should so watch Stranger Things" Park nods. "Not sure how we can watch all the Hannibal episodes. There must be, like, forty of them." A nod about ordering out. "I'm not a good cook so maybe ordering out is the thing?"
"Don't worry Park, I can't cook either. I made some enchiladas the other day though, they weren't that bad." Mae gives Park a look as she talks about auras, leaning in, her voice quiet. "Listen, it's new, and I'm not used to it so .. we probably shouldn't talk about relationship stuff. I have to literally talk to myself sometimes so that I don't panic."
She rolls her eyes and grimaces, nodding at Park. "Hey, if we can talk people into it, sure." She sips at her straw again, coming to the bottom of her frappe. "Anyway, if you see that I'm at the house you're welcome to stop by. Dylan is in class a lot, so I could always use company."
"Okay, no talking about relationships" Park whispers secretively. "But...when you can...maybe tell me what it's like?" A hopeful look on her face before she gestures zipping her mouth shut. No more on that subject. "Are burritos and enchiladas different?"
"And you should come over and visit the band house too. Listen to us play and stuff. I'll play you that song I've written about you too. It's called 'Mae Be'. Get it? I told you your name was good for song lyrics." More slurping on her thickshake. "Dylan does art?"
Mae blinks a few times at Park, her head tilted slightly to the side. "Tell you what being in a relationship is like?" She ducks her head slightly, trying not to grin. "Honey you're better off not being in one, if we're being honest. Takes a special someone to make it worth trying." She huffs out a breath and leans back in her seat. "We can girl talk sometime, and yeah, I can come visit the house. Sure." She giggles and pushes back her chair, getting to her feet to throw her garbage away. "You wrote a song about me?" She nods as she walks back to the table, picking up her phone to send off another text. "Dylan does do art, lots of it, actually."
"You don't like being in a relationship?" That makes Park frown. "You're not happy?" She may have to yell at Dylan if this is true. Not that Park has ever yelled at anyone in her life. "Girl talk? Really/ That would be awesome. I've always wanted to do that."
Park will ponder the possibilities while Mae heads off to the trash and back. "I'm still writing the song about you" she clarifies. "I wrote one for the Cabaret and then thought about writing one for you and Love. Separate. I saw the art Dylan did for Cameron's album. He doesn't seem to like her much though."
"No, that's not really the case. I like Dylan a lot, and if I didn't I wouldn't be .. doing this relationship thing. They just never work out for me." Mae holds up a hand, grinning down at Park. "So far this one is, so you don't have to yell at him, I promise. He's been a real gentleman so far." She laughs softly and drops back into her seat. "Dylan loves to draw, you should see his basement, he has a whole wall of notebooks, all kinds of different things in them. It's how I met him, actually." She taps her fingers on the table, grinning. "I was walking through the woods, and there he was sitting, sketching a sunset and some trees. He doesn't say much, but we seem to get it, and each other."
She shakes her head, letting out a soft laugh. "He likes Cameron okay, just think she's a little ..much? She's got a very strong personality."
"Awww...you met walking in the woods at sunset?" Park breathes in deep and lets it all out in a sweet sigh. "That's so romantic. Gosh, you're both so lucky. Has he drawn you? Has he drawn you like...umm...you no...French girls?" Her brow furrows. "I guess that means with a beret on or something. I'd love to check out the art if that's okay with him." She rests her head on one hand, tilted to one side all dreamy like. "I am so happy you're so happy and he's so happy and that makes me happy too that you're both happy being happy with each other. It's like a Valentine's Day card."
"Cameron is certainly confident" Park nods. "And good on her. I think that Alison girl at the club tonight was her girlfriend. But I thought Cameron had another girlfriend. Maddy or something?"
"I was taking a hike because I was in a bad mood, so I'm not sure it was all that romantic. We got to talking though, well.. I talked and he mostly listened." Mae laughs at Park's question, nodding at her. "He had sketches from the shots night, you remember that?" She lets out a soft sigh. "I think he'd love to show his art off to you." She reaches out and squeezes Park's hand. "Some people have a lot of boyfriends and girlfriends, though I feel like it gets pretty complicated."
"It was romantic. Deal with it" Park teases Mae before nodding about the shots night. "Oh gosh! He didn't draw me getting a body shot done, did he? How embarrassment." She seems to think it is akin to a photo being taken.
"They have a lot of boyfriends and girlfriends? That seems rather greedy. What about all those people who don't have boyfriends or girlfriends? What are they supposed to do if someone is having multiples?" She slurps on her thickshake again, followed by the rattle of nearing the bottom of her drink.
"I'm not sure if he did or not, but you can ask him?" Mae narrows her eyes and aims a brief smile at Park. "It wouldn't be an embarrassment, I mean, if someone sketches you it means that they find you interesting. You are interesting, Park." She shrugs a shoulder and gazes toward the window. "I usually just don't do relationships. I think that love is love, no matter who with. If you like someone, you should tell them as much. Why hide it?"
"Or do you disagree?" She asks quietly, aiming a look at Mee.
Alison saunters in the front door of the coffee shop, back in her normal outfit, having dropped Cameron off at her place after being at the Cabaret earlier tonight. Just after being mentioned! What a weird coincidence. Without looking around too much, she heads to the counter and orders a pretty large sized latte, possibly inadvisable for the late hour, but she's trying to not be so tipsy after putting a few drinks inside her. She pays out of her crossbody bag, and then finds a seat to flop into with her drink, taking a big dramatic sip and then sprawling out backwards, head practically dangling from her neck as she lays limply in the chair.
"Why don't you do relationships? And I don't think I'm that interesting. Not as interesting as all the people I know." Park nods to the question. "I totally agree. If you like someone, then you should say it." If there is hidden meaning in Mae's look, Park has completely missed it.
And there's Alison! No limpness allowed. "Alison! My sister in sin!" Park has NOT changed since leaving the club. She doesn't even have a coat on over her devil costume. "There's Alison, Mae." Just in case she missed who Park was yelling towards.
"Safer." Mae responds, turning her gaze toward the redhead who walks into the coffee shop. She taps her temples with two fingers, sending off a casual salute. "Evening.. Allison?" She turns a questioning look at Park, that is what she called her right. "You're welcome to come sit with us if you'd like, I'm getting ready to take off though." She turns back to Park and waves a hand at her. "Woman, why are you always yelling?" It's fondly said, at least.
Alison looks up, upon hearing her name. Spots the other skinny devil from earlier! "Oh, hey!" She takes another sip from her drink and gets up, moving to a seat near the other two. "Hi there. How's it going?" Her eyes glance up and down to take in Park's outfit from a bit closer than she had been at the Cabaret. Yeah, definitely nicer than hers, even if Alison had the hair to better suit it. Definitely on the attractive side of things to boot. Looking at Zoiya, she says, "Aw, that's too bad. I loved your routine earlier! It's easy to see where Cam learned her moves from."
"Was I yelling again?" Park winces at Mae before nodding to confirm the name of the redhead. "If it's safer, then why do it? C'mon, admit it. Love is wonderful and you like being in a relationship" she smiles sweetly before Alison joins them.
"Mae is the bestest dancer in the entire city" Park nods to Alison. "She makes twerking into an art form. She's even teaching me some moves. Not that I'd ever dance on stage. No boobs or butt. So I'll play the music instead."
"You were yelling again." Mae confirms quietly, and then she rolls her eyes. "I did it because it seemed like a good idea at the time, and I don't love him yet. We just started dating." She isn't above reaching out to pinch Park if she has to, the talk of love has her skittish. When Allison joins them and changes the subject, she leaps on it. "Thank you, Allison. Cameron isn't a slouch herself, she just needed to believe in herself more." She aims a warm smile at the red-haired woman. "Glad you came out tonight, hope you come back some more. We have a lot of fun at the club sometimes."
Alison laughs at the mention of no boobs or butt. Park's got about six inches or so on Alison, but she's similarly not so well endowed. "I know how that goes. I'd probably be up on that stage on a regular basis if I was any better off in that department. But hey, what you do have looks pretty good, I think." She holds a hand out towards Park for a commiserative high-five. And then blurts out, "If you don't mind me saying so, I mean." A little awkward. A small blush. Back towards the dancer. "Yeah, maybe! It's usually not my kind of thing, but she invited me to see her dance, so I figured I'd check it out. And I'm always excited to get into the Halloween spirit nice and early."
And Park was such a shy child; what's with all the yelling now? "You did it because it is always a good idea to give it a try. I bet you even sleep in the same bed. Like...all night!" But the subject is changed so she will listen as she finishes her thickshake.
High five? It is met. "You're really pretty, Alison. You could totally dance with what your mama gave you." As for compliments, there is Park blushing even more than Alison. "You can say it if you want. I mean, I think it is a sign of poor eyesight but I don't mind. Oh! The Masquerade will be soon, right? I love Halloween. Who wants to go trick or treating with me?"
Mae isn't going to dignify any of that with a response, if she did, Park would probably spontaneously combust.
She doesn't answer any of that actually, she just smiles over at Alison and gets to her feet, gathering up her purse. "Well, come outside of your comfort zone more often, hmm? It was a pleasure meeting you." She glances at Park as she slings her purse over her shoulder. "You behave yourself, Mee. Stop being so silly."
