2019-11-01 - You Should Be Working, Not Flirting

The diner's absolutely dead on the afternoon after Halloween, for some reason, when who comes on in but someone who'd caught Alison eye just happens to walk in. Casual chatter about life, sexuality, gender, y'know. Light, casual stuff.

It's early afternoon in the diner. And, unusually, especially for the day after Halloween, it's a ghost town. Even most of the waitstaff have been sent home, save for Alison standing behind the counter and a cook in the kitchen somewhere. She's staring off into the distance, mindlessly wiping the counter with a wet rag, even though it's already clean. Everything out front is clean. The tables have all been bussed and reset, the booths are empty, the counter is wide open. Anyone coming in could have their pick of seats, and full attention from Alison and the kitchen, for better or for worse.

Halloween is over? Not for one Park Mee! The Korean-American bounces into the Grizzly with a smile on her face and a bob to her horn; since she is wearing a unicorn onesie. Shocked to find no one present in this temple to good service, she makes her way straight to the counter, all grins and waves. "Alison! I haven't seen you in ages." Here to interrupt the redhead's reveries; her fluffy feet shuffling over the linoleum. "Where is everyone? It's only fog. And it's Halloween!!"

Alison snaps to attention upon the door opening, like suddenly waking up from a mid-lesson nap to the teacher slapping a ruler onto her desk. "Huh? Oh! Hi!" The redhead grins widely and walks behind the counter closer to Park, meeting her a bit closer than where the waitress had already been standing. "Nice to see you! Yeah, I got super sick with that flu that's been going around and then.." She pauses, then starts again, "I was in the hospital for a few days, but I'm back in tip top shape now!" Her eyes glance Park up and down, taking in the rather adorable outfit. "Not sure! Probably busy with Masquerade stuff, though some weird stuff has been going on, so who knows."

She's in one of her regular outfits, just a t-shirt and jeans, sneakers, and red hair flowing everywhere. "I'd be wearing my costume all weekend, but I ran out of latex cleaner." Alison grins a bit wider. "Also I think Gina'd yell at me."

The counter is all that stands between Alison and a hug. The expression on Park's face suggests it is killing her not to greet with a hug but Alison is working, so she will keep her hands behind her back. "I totally got that flu too. How bad was it! The things I was dreaming of. Oh. My. Gosh. I have never seen that much nudity. Did you get so sick they had to take you to the hospital? I'm so sorry to hear that. At least Cameron would have looked after you. She's so nice. Ooh! What was your costume? The one from the Cabaret? You looked so good in that." She swings around a satchel bag from behind her back and flicks it open. "I might have some latex cleaner in here..." she mumbles while poking around in the bag. "I wouldn't worry about Gina yelling at you. She yells at everyone. It's how she says 'I love you'."

Alison 's cheeks flush a little. "I had this really weird dream where I drove here to get my paycheck, but the place was totally empty!" She pauses again, turns. "Kinda like now. But then I went into the back, came back out, and the place was filled with actual, living bears." She points at the stuffed bear by the door to the place, which serves as a coatrack. "And that one took a swing at me! And then I woke up at the hospital with my shoulder all stitched up. So that as weird." She pauses. "Cam was out of town with Madison at a show, but they came back at helped me out when they got home!"

"Oooh, really? I didn't actually bring it with me, but lemmie show you something.." She whips out her phone and shows Park a picture of a mask: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61xsgridXJL._SY355_.jpg "I was wearing the same costume as I had one at the Cabaret, but with knee high leather boots instead of the stockings and heels, and this. Didn't really have time once I got out the hospital to pick up anything that wasn't also from the 'Drawer of Shame'." She even does the little air quotes thing with her fingers.

Alison gestures towards one of the stools. "You hungry? Let me get you something to eat!"

Park is all excited to hear about a cafe full of bears...until they attacked Alison. She eyes off the 'coatrack'. "That bear attacked you?" She gives it a glare before looking back to Alison. "I'm sure it will apologise in the next dream. So you hurt yourself at home when you were dreaming? I have dreams like that. You dream something to match what is actually happening to you? Like, when you have dreams of falling because you've fallen out of bed. Which would be dangerous for me now since I'm on the top bunk. Gosh, I hope I don't have dreams of flying" she giggles. "Who took you to the hospital? They were playing? I'd like to see them play."

Park glances at the picture and her eyes go wide. "Woah, that is scary. Japanese, right?" Another giggle at the 'Drawer of Shame'. "You should never be ashamed of anything" grins the girl in the pink unicorn onesie. "Unless it is something bad." An eager nod to food. "Yes please. Where would you like me to sit?"

Alison grins again. "Yeah, must have! I think I was all fever brained though, I really don't remember much from those few days. I think the cop said it was a dog or something but.. apparently he heard me screaming in bed and came in to my place? He broke down the door and everything." She shrugs. "All healed up now."

"Oh man, bunk beds. Been a looooong time since I've been in a bunk bed. Was never a fan of the top bunk. All that climbing up and down, and if you need to pee in the middle of the night? You're pretty much doomed."

"Yeah, somewhere out of town! I actually met them at some wiccan festival thing in the forest one day and we've been hanging out since then." She shrugs as to where the mask came from. "No idea. I just typed 'devil mask' into Amazon and that was my favorite thing that came up that wasn't like, a hundred bucks. I think it might be for airsoft or something? But all you could really see was my eyes and my hair, with the horns on top, I think it worked pretty well. Still embarassing to be out and about in the fetish night gear, especially if I get called out on it like the dude on the PA at the Cabaret. As for where you should sit.."

Alison chooses this particular moment to vault herself over the counter. It's not super tall, but she's pretty short, but she manages it pretty easily. She puts on a wide grin. "Anywhere you'd like, assuming I can sit with you if that's alright."

"A policeman broke into your house because you were having a nightmare?" Park considers this for a few moments before her smile returns. "That was so nice of him. The police here are really sweet."

She nods sagely about upper bunk bathroom breaks. "So true. Though I am totally quiet when I need to go. They don't even know I've left the bed...unless I trip over someone's shoes. The whole band live in the same room. Like the Monkees kind of thing. So much fun...and the boys promise not to look at Lyric and I getting dressed." A pause. "Or undressed."

Park blushes a little as she playfully pushes at Alison - in much the same way a butterfly could push a door. "Hanging out. Is that what you girls call it. So sweet that you've all found each other." A gesture towards the phone. "It's Japanese. Did you get lots of treats? I must have left the latex cleaner at home. Oh well."

Now that there is no evil counter in the way, a hug for Alison arrives. "Of course you can sit with me. As long as you don't get in trouble from Gina the Terrible." She decides on a booth so she has room for her bag...and unicorn tail. "I should do a song about your coven. Though if they are doing their own songs about themselves, they probably already have."

Alison snickers at the line about the band. "I really can't imagine living in the same room as boys. I mean, it's weird, I'm into boys and girls, right? And yet sleeping in the same room as a guy.. well, unless I'm sleeping WITH him?" She gives her head a little shake, red hair floating a little in the air. "I don't think I could handle the mess."

She laughs as Park pushes her. "I mean, y'know! I'm not quite sure what it is yet but it's nice." Alison looks a little disappointed at the lack of latex cleaner, but oh well. "Not so much with the treats. I did do some drinking though, which.. kind of counts?" A little 'half and half' gesture with her hand.

The redhead squeezes into the hug, then sits with Park in her chosen booth, grabbing a menu on her way, putting it in front of the other woman. "Nah, she's not here right now. And it's not like there's anyone else that needs help, so why not? Wait, a coven? Are we a coven? I don't really believe any of that witch.. wiccan stuff. They've been telling me some really weird stuff lately about it, though. Is it just me, or is this town just.. weird in general?"

"Sleeping in the same room as others is fun. It's like summer camp...just with boys in the same room. As long as you don't walk in on them...you know...fiddling...then all is good." Park's brow furrows in thought. "They do fiddle a lot though. But they clean up their mess. I hope so at least."

"I don't drink a lot. It does straight to my head...and my bladder." Park rumages around in her bag again before pulling out a handful of candy. "This is for you. You can share in my treat. You like boys and girls? At the same time? Not really sure how that all works."

"Oh, yes, this town is totally weird. I mean, you work in a diner with bears that come alive. Not that I really know anything else. I was born in Cali but I've been here since I was five years old. Don't think of it as weird, think of it as fun" Park grins. "Can Cameron and her girlfriend cast spells? Maybe it was another witch that made you dream bad? Getting revenge against them because there is a big witch war. Do witches have wars?" She remembers to glance at the menu. "Can I have an eggs benedict with bacon?"

Alison laughs at mention of fiddling. "Yeah, that almost never happens. And then the smell of it when they don't clean up.." She shakes her head again, still laughing.

She oooos at the sight of candy, taking a piece and popping it into her mouth. "Aww, thank you! You're so sweet. But yeah, I mean.. I find both attractive? I tend to lean more towards girls, but boys have their perks at times too. It's all just kinda.. whatever my heart decides on, y'know? Not necessarily at the same time, though, but that's, like, a whole other conversation."

"I mean, the bears didn't /actually/ come alive, right? I've only been here about a month, but it's hardly the only weird thing to happen lately." And then onto the spells. "Uh, they think they do? But I'm pretty sure none of that stuff is actually real." Alison kinda subconsciously paws at her freshly spirit glimmer healed shoulder injury from the aforementioned bear. "No idea about wars, either way. I certainly haven't done anything to piss off any witches lately, as far as I know."

Alison grins and grabs the menu. "Be right back." And she gets up, heading back to the counter to punch the order in. Then she calls back to Park, "Is a Coke okay? My treat." She heads back with whatever drink is preferred, and one for herself as well, and sits back down at the booth, pushing one towards Park.

"Oh my gosh, yes! The smell. Like, they don't realise people can smell it when they walk in the room? Though, you know, boys have plenty of other smells to block that one out" Park relates matter-of-factly with all the wisdom of her non-existent experience.

"Is it your heart or other bits that decide it" Park giggles. "But you're right. Their fiddling bits shouldn't matter. You can play all kinds of music on fiddles...or the same music on different fiddles...or..." The creasing of her brow suggests she has lots the metaphor so she will move on.

"Of course the bears didn't really come alive but they did as far as you're concerned and that's all that matters for you. Right? It would be nice if their spells did work" Park sighs. "To have magic in the world. Oh, I didn't think you'd annoyed a witch, I thought they may have annoyed a witch and it was getting back at them through you. But...that probably didn't happen."

"A coke is fine!" Park yells in reply, smiling happily as she takes the drink on Alison's return. "Where have you come from? What brought you to Gray Harbor?"

<FS3> Alison rolls Composure: Success (8 7 5 4 4 2 2 1 1) (Rolled by: Alison)

Alison giggles a bit. "Yeah, that's true. Why don't boys ever clean up in general, though? That's the real mystery of life. But hey, sometimes you've got that special guy in your life and he comes home sweaty from working out or something and it just.." She holds a hand up and gestures into her head. "Just hits the spot? I dunno how to describe it." The waitress laughs again before taking a sip of her Coke.

She shrugs at the next question. "That's a good point! I mean, a little of both. And someone's bits don't always match up with what's in their heart either, so it really depends on the person, I think. Who someone is rather than if they've got abs or big tits. If they're the kind of asshole that treats their waiter rudely at a restauraunt, right?" That comes with a big grin on the redhead's face.

"I'm just from Seattle, so it's not like I'm completely a fish out of water here. Not entirely sure why I moved here, to be honest? It.. also came to me in a dream, and I couldn't quite shake the idea, so here I am." She takes another sip from her drink, clearing her throat, then circling back to an earlier point of conversation.

She smiles at Park again, and asks, "What about you, though? Are you into boys? I imagine that living with them in a cramped space has some kind of effect, either towards or away from them!" Alison's trying to gather some information in a roundabout fashion, and she thinks she's more or less come up with a good way of getting it without completely tipping her hand. But before Park can answer, there's a ding from behind the counter, and Alison's jumping up to go get Park's food, returning with it, cutlery, some condiments, and whatnot shortly. There's extra bacon on the side! So much bacon. Many strips.

"Ico gets all sweaty from banging away for hours. Always pounding hard whenever he can" Park nods sagely. She assumes that Alison knows he is the drummer. "You like it when they're all sweaty?" A shrug at that; everyone has their own thing.

"Oh, I know big hearts don't always go with big...umm...other things. Has someone been mean to you here? I mean, other than the bear." Park smiles warmly about what brought Alison to town. "Another dream? Gosh, so you're living your dreams. Not many people can say that. I hope to live mine one day. I mean the music star one, not the 'naked at a lecture' one. I don't think anyone wants that one to come true."

To no ones surprise, there is severe Park blushing ar questions about what she may be interested in. "I'm not very good at those kind of things" she squeaks. "I was too busy studying in high school to have anyone interested in me. And now I'm too busy being a rock star. And everyone is prettier than me. I mean, all the girls at the Cabaret. Lyric in the band." She sighs softly. "All so beautiful." A little jump as Alison moves so suddenly to get the food. And there is so much of it too! "You want to eat it with me? I'm not a big eater. But it sure looks yummy. Sharesie."

Alison shrugs as well! "It depends a lot on the person to me. Like, Cameron for example. Okay, that might a bit weird since you actually know her.." She swallows, and then continues. "Like, your average person on the street, smells sweaty? No, that's gross. Someone that you're into, though, even if you haven't.. done stuff with them? I think it's supposed to be like, a pheromone thing or something. But THEN it can be really hot." A pause. "I forget how that even came up, but yeah, not just like, random dude sweat, but something about someone that you're attracted to can just kind of.. flip that little switch, I guess."

"Here? No! And if they were, there's usually enough cops around or big dudes in the kitchen to drag 'em out the door. A few places, yeah, but not here. I think people know what they're getting into here for the most part. I'm apparently an 'exception' to the rule of bad service here, but it is what is." Finger quotes again at exception!

Alison sneaks a piece of bacon from Park's plate even before she offers, her punching into the order system of extra bacon having a few different reasons. "Aw, really? That's too bad. I mean, it's an important part of life! Assuming you're not asexual, I mean. That's a thing! It's definitely not MY thing, but it's a thing." She takes another sip from her drink, the fluid level getting towards the bottom of the glass, little tinkles as the ice shifts downwards. "I think you should make time for figuring that kinda stuff out. You can't just work forever, right?" She gestures back at Park with a piece of bacon, kind of using it to point at the other woman as if it was an extension of her hand, then she takes a bite of it. "Lyric.. she's got the white bleached hair, right? She's cute, and she's certainly got curves, not quite my taste though, personally." Another bite of bacon! "But hey, different strokes for different folks."

"Cam's usually sweaty after her dancing but I'm up in the booth. Should I get closer? See if it happens for me too? She's totally nice. I'm glad you care for each other. I haven't met her other girlfriend though. Is she nice?" Park asks in her excited innocent way between bites of her meal.

"Oh, I have sex. Sometimes. I'm not silly" Park giggles. "If I can find anyone who wants to. But, you know, with the flu and everything, I haven't been looking my best. I should do another one of my blogs." A nod about who Lyric is. "That's her. Great guitarist. Can dance too. Not your taste?" Park thinks about this for a moment before nodding. "I guess Cameron looks quite different so that makes sense. So much bacon. The sauce is nice too. My compliments to the chef. There is a chef back there, yes?"

<FS3> Alison rolls Composure-7: Success (6 4) (Rolled by: Alison)

Alison grins at the mention of Cameron. "If you want! I think she smells pretty good after she gets off the stage, but I think I'm a little biased. Plus other things, seeing her rock her hips like that. Madison's pretty great too, though dancing isn't really her thing. She can be.. well, she's very different from Cameron."

The next line catches her entirely off guard though, and she grabs for her drink to suppress the laughter that's just screaming inside her to come out, taking the last few dregs of the coke and somewhat melted ice cubes until it makes that obnoxious slurping sound. Was not expecting that response. She puts the glass back down, and then says after a moment, "..IF you can find anyone who wants to? And you don't really know if you're into guys, girls, or whoever? Honey. You really DO spend too much time working, it sounds like."

"Yeah, Nick's on shift today." She leans back in the booth, and shouts towards the kitchen. "Hey Nick!" Yeah? "Good job on the eggs benny!" ..thanks? And Alison gives Park a little thumbs up. "Yeah, the food's pretty decent here. As long as the bears don't bug you, and you don't mind some of the waitresses." Then she's snagging another piece of bacon, taking a bite with a grin. "It's not the cheap stuff, either like you get at McDonalds or whatever."

"The bacon at McDonalds is so fake it is probably kosher" Park muses before joining in the yelling towards the back. "Thanks for the yummy food, Nick!" Then back to smiling over the table at Alison. "If I had more money, I'd tip him better. Tip you better too."

"I don't want a relationship though" Park points out...as if she had a choice in the matter. "Since I'll be a music star it will probably be hard for the other person. But sex is awesome." A pause. "I should sniff Cameron then?" Park is not entirely sure about this plan but if it helps. She is also quite happy to let Alison eat as much as she wishes. Park has a figure to maintain - beanpole. "So Cameron and Madison are your type?"

Alison snickers at the bacon line. "I think you can, like, literally see through that stuff." And then onto the matter of tipping. She holds a hand out upright, in a gesture of 'stop', or 'no'. "There's absolutely no need. Your company works just as well as payment."

"Okay, yeah, I get that about not wanting a relationship. Like with me and the other girls, I don't know if you'd really call it a relationship.. even between the two of them? Like, there's other people from time to time, and they live together, but it's.. hell, I don't know, it's complicated. It's casual? Like I said, we just kinda hang out. Things happen. Friends who, uh, have sex sometimes? It doesn't need to be a whole formal.. thing."

Alison grins at the mention of sex being awesome. "It is pretty awesome! If you're thinking that you might be into Cameron, then may as well give her a whiff." An even wider grin. "Or not, I mean, smells don't hit everyone the same way. There's plenty about a person's smell even without being all sweaty. Some people just.. smell good in general."

"Hmm, yeah, I'd say so. Like, for example, their clothing? That tells you a lot about a person. Cam and Mads definitely skew more towards the gothier side of the spectrum, aren't, like, your stereotypical bleach blonde girls in the magazines, y'know? They're different, and I like that." Alison reaches forwards and gives Park's horn a gentle little bop, pushing it upwards and then letting it fall back into place. "I mean, I have no idea what you really wear on a daily basis, though. I've seen you in the devil outfit at the Cabaret, and now a unicorn onesie. I'd call that 'different', but somehow I don't think that's exactly every day for you."

"My company is worth money? Maybe I should sell my company?" Park giggles before a horrific realisation hits her. "Oh...that would make me an escort. Hmm...maybe not." She nods to Alison's words about the strange relationship she finds herself in. "It's casual and complicated?" Another giggle. "You wouldn't want formal sex, would you? You know, set time. Have to dress up. Book in advance. That would take a bit of the magic out of it. Unless you were into that kind of thing."

"Oh my gosh! Cameron is sweet and lovely, and so pretty, but I don't think I'm into her. Not like you're into her...umm...I don't mean literally into her, though you may be, I don't really need the details. But, yeah, people can have nice smells too." She looks up as her horn bounces atop her head thanks to Alison. "This is closer to what I normally wear" she smiles. "The devil was totally out of the ordinary. I don't normally show off my 'A-Team' like that. I'm not very Goth, sorry. I do have some Lolita clothes, I do cosplay, but nothing like Cameron wears." A shrug. "I like bright colors."

Alison laughs at the initial suggestion! "That.. yeah, it would. Which is an option! But you seem pretty set on the whole rock star thing. That's probably a better choice." Pauses while Park goes on about 'formal sex'. "You joke, but something I DO have a thing for is a woman in a nice suit. Something about the tie and the button down shirt.." She shrugs a bit. "Dudes too, really, assuming that they actually fit properly. Takes a lot more to stand out though. But booking in advance is kind of the escort thing again, isn't it?"

The bit about being into Cameron makes her snicker somewhat more than is probably appropriate for the line, but she doesn't feel obligated to elaborate on it. On the topic of Park's usual clothing, "Really? Huh, neat. I mean, I didn't mean goth clothing in particular. Colors are great, I just mean more like.. stereotypical 'girl' clothing. Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue, that kind of crap. It's more than just how someone dresses, y'know? Everyone has their own kind of aura that's just.. hard to describe. Some people just have that particular kind of.. shine, y'know? To me, you shine in an attractive way, and so do Cam and Mads. Lyric.." she kinda scrunches her face up a bit. "I mean, I've never actually met her, but the way she stands out is kinda like her inner light a flashlight in your face. Does that make sense? Madison can be like that too, sometimes, but it's different, somehow." Alison gets the feeling that she's off on a wild tangent here, talking about something she probably shouldn't be? But whatever. "Kinda rambling here. But I mean more, people just kinda have this kinda THING about them, the way they act, the way they talk, there's all these little factors that make up my attraction to people."

"Oh, gosh, I couldn't be an escort for real. If I set myself up in that kind of business, I would make a loss" Park smirks. "Though I guess that would mean I wouldn't pay tax." Her mind drifts for a moment before she shakes it clear. "No, music star is better." A tilt of her head as she listens to Alison. "So you don't like girls dressing as stereotypical girls but you like girls dressing as stereotypical boys? Cool."

Park eats slowly as Alison talks about the 'glow' of so many in town. "Cameron says she can see auras. She must have really good eyes. I don't see anything like she does. But...sometimes. Yeah, it makes total sense in general." Though she does frown a little at the frown about Lyric. Her frowns never last long. "You're not rambling. I get what you're saying. Some people are magic. Why don't you think you should talk about it? Life is magic. People are magic. Happiness is magic. We should all talk more about the magical things in life instead of the depressing ones." Another few mouthfuls of delicious food. "I should probably get going. I've got a moped now! You are totally awesome, Alison. I think you glow wonderfully."

Alison gives a little shrug at the summary of the thing about suits. "Maybe? Rigid gender lines are boring."

Ali 'steals' a piece of bacon every now and then, not really making a dent in the pile. Nick probably did something near half a pound of bacon, which is kind of a lot for two waifish girls like herself and Park, but hey, bacon's delicious. She smiles at Park's bit about magic. "Yeah, you're right! I dunno, it just.. I had a weird feeling about it."

The redhead puts on a little playful frown upon hearing that Park has to leave. "Okay! I'm glad that I ran into you again. I'll make sure to keep my eye out for the cute woman on the moped." She reaches into her jean pocket and pulls out what looks like a bill, blank on the top side, and slides it across the table. "I should probably get back to work. Have a good rest of your day!" She gets up and heads back over to the counter, starting on some various errand.

The underside of the 'bill' is blank, save for her name with a heart where the dot in the i of her name should be, her phone number, and a $0 with the 0 crossed out.
