Text

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Hey, you busy?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Free at the moment. What's up? You stir crazy from icicles in your feet?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Getting there. If the entire city burns down due to boredom-induced arson, we didn't have this conversation. Delete your text history.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : How did you hear about it?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Arson? I'd at least hope for something more than just fire. And ran into Alexander at the book store yesterday.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I haven't figured out the best way to will a storm to ravage an urban jungle just yet, but once I do, you'll be the second person I'll inform. And I see. It's alright, it's just a hole in my foot. Just means I'm one step closer to Jesus.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : So I ran into a person yesterday that I referred to you. Not sure if he'll call you but I thought I'd give you a heads up.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : I'll add that to my list of experiments. Weather control. Why not? And yeah? Who was this?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : His name is Joe Cavanugh. Ex-Navy, lives in Bayside 303 and has a monohull docked out here called the Surprise. He helped me yesterday but his history is interesting. Remember that discussion we had about what triggers our abilities?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Was in the asylum for a couple of years. Yeah. I ran into him briefly at the Grizzly. And I do. Some of us from a young age, others of us late bloomers.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Also, is Surprise a good name for a boat? I suppose I should read up on the rules. Surprise just sounds like you are asking for issues to crop up. Not as bad as calling a boat the Drowned Hope, or, Holey Deliverance, I suppose.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Not even, just half a year according to him. Anyway he gave me a chronology of what had happened to him, though we didn't get into detail. He had an accident four years ago, some kind of wreck. Had a year of rehab, but he started showing after that. He said he was fifty, might be that the trauma from the accident triggered the change, but I have no expertise whatsoever to even start measuring that. He seems keen on knowing people who are doing formal research, he really wants to understand what's happening to him.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : And it is. It's a reference to the Aubrey-Maturin novels. In the books, the Surprise was a very lucky ship.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Yeah? Think I still have his number. And rehab is interesting. I've been pondering if there is any chance of transfer of glimmering abilities, through say organ transplants or blood transfusions. Also need to figure out what 'formal' needs to mean in this case. Not from him... for me. Feels like keeping a paper trail of waiver forms/etc is bad. Draws more attention from Them, more possibility of creating unwanted focus.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Well, I think 'formal' from his perspective means that a trained medical professional with a scientific background is actually looking into this, I honestly don't think he's all that picky as far as definitions are concerned. He looked very desperate when I talked to him.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : That's an interesting hypothesis also, but that would require digging into records. I have an idea on that, but I need to think on it some more and see if you think it's viable.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Yeah. Figured that is what he meant. Thinking more formal on my side. How to keep track of it, keep it anonymous, keep people protected from prying eyes from Over There. A lot of potentially sensitive data, and add onto it the sort of research being done. Not like any of this is gunna be submitted to a scientific journal.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Yeah? Let me know. Probably beats my plan of lurking around the hospital and making notes of patients pre/post surgeries.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Honestly? I don't know how much you can actually shield others who involve themselves with you, or anyone else, by mere paper or the lack thereof. From my experience, They seem to just know and occasionally they pass the information to Their agents. Something to consider and maybe look into. Might very well be that using by itself feeds them what they need to know about the user, which might mean some connection between Them and our gifts? It's a little disturbing to think about.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : ::laugh emoji:: Yeah, well. I'll try not to disappoint you, good dr. We can talk about it when it's time for me to donate specimens to your cause.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Could be. It was right after I used my Talent that I felt them notice, like it was using it and it was knowing how I was using it. Is that how they always work? Through their Agents?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : And that sounds like a plan. I promise to have a lollipop to give you after I draw blood.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I don't think They can actually interact with us directly unless it's through Their agents, but that's just a theory based from my own personal experience with Their elements. I've never seen an actual Dolorphage. Anyway, you know how I feel about sugar but I will accept it because it is a very good doctor thing to do.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : How were your holidays?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Oh, right. You don't like sweets. Fine. What about sour gummy worms? Not sweet at all! And.. interesting. When you come over? I want to pick your brain a bit more about the agents.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Sour gummy worms are perfectly acceptable. And yeah, that sounds like a plan. There are three, possibly four that I know of active in Gray Harbor. I'll give you the details when I see you next.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : But I have to go see another doctor in a few minutes.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Sounds good. And do stay off the foot and listen to your doctor, yeah?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : No promises but I'll do my best. I'll see you soon, Yule. Stay safe.
