Text

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Remember when you told me that you're not a fan boring small talk? In honor of our burgeoning friendship, I am skipping 'hey how are you' and right down to a question I can ask only two people I know.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : (hint, you're one of those two)

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : I appreciate your to the point start, but I'll still reserve my feelings about being one of two until I know what the question is... some I'd be flattered by, others I'd be disappointed to be only one of two you could ask.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Okay, for some very strange reason, a magazine issue came into the mail today to Alexander's address. It's an issue of Girls and Corpses Monthly. I'm honestly too leery to look and I'm recovering from a newer set of injuries so I figured the last thing I need this week is another set of scars. Have you ever heard of it?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Yes. I've heard of it. Got a few issues as a christmas gift from someone last year who thought they were funny.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Were they funny?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Is it addressed to Alexander, and if so, why are you getting his mail. That's a federal offense, you know. And you were all, 'we shouldn't break and enter.'

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : I read it for the articles.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : It was actually fairly interesting, for what it is worth. Did you read it?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : ::laugh emoji:: I think I've heard that before. In your case, and Alexander's case, I can believe it, though. No, I didn't read it, it's in plastic because of the weather, I'm not about to open his mail.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : For a few reasons, I've been living in his residence for a few weeks.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : You should sit down and read it together. Make it a bonding experience.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I don't know. The corpses I'm used to handling at work are less....juicy...than what's on the cover.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : And for the record, I didn't precisely say we shouldn't break and enter. All I said was 'stealing thousands of dollars worth of lab equipment would make breaking and entering more complicated'. There's a difference.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : It's not just about corpses. Girls. Comedy. Interviews. Movie reviews. Just think of it like.. Weekend At Bernie's.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : It would make it more 'interesting' is the word we should use. Exciting. Glass half full, not empty!

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I did love those movies. I think the magazine has way less voodoo though....maybe. I think. I mean, this is Gray Harbor, anything can happen once the plastic wrapper's removed. But I like your optimism.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Of course, keep in mind I AM still single, so, my relationship advice might not be all that sound. Still. You've seen it now. And if you are the explorer I think you are? You aren't going to be content until you see inside of it.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Yeah. Just hope it isn't like one of the movies where when you open the cover the pages come to life.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I don't know, Yule. Our last conversation about your love life, you told me you were playing doubles. Nothing single about that at all!

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : All teasing aside, that sounds like the plot of The Mummy, which I unapologetically love for more reasons than Brendan Fraser as a tough, but hilarious treasure hunter.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Yeah. That's a whole different story. And the Mummy is a great movie. And I say that for more than Patricia Velásquez and her impossibly long neck in that movie.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I'm surprised you went with long neck and not long other things because people definitely saw a lot of her in those movies. You know the character she was playing was related to Tutankhamun? But you should pull the chute while you still can before I tell you everything I remember about Ancient Egypt.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Did you get my voicemail?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : I like to admire different things in women first before I get to the obvious, thank you much. And I did. I plan to reach out to him. Consider me intrigued, especially given I am now moved into an a frame cabin.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : What, and no housewarming invite? I guess you'd need a place to hang up the bell I sent you for Christmas before it goes to its rightful place. But yeah, August's expecting contact in some fashion. I think the two of you would get along well and he's got some good ideas about how to build out a lab under a cabin.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Well, I'm moved in, but I'm not unpacked. And I don't exactly have furniture. I had to move because of that bell you got me, cause where in the trailer was I going to fit the thing? All teasing aside, yeah. Work has been super crazy, but I plan to reach out to him in the next few days. And we need to make arrangements to go pick up lab equipment.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : You must be thinking of my bell as the Liberty Bell, which honestly would have been a more impressive gift, but alas, you get the smaller and non-cast-iron version. Anyway, it sounds good. As for the lab equipment, I think maybe build out the space first before investing. I mean, you just got your place, set up a home first!

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Maybe you are just vastly over estimating the size of the little trailer I was in. 😉 And maybe. I'll see what August has to say and how long that all would take. But that conversation first.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Listen, considering the tiny house thing is all the rage these days, how am I supposed to know if you hadn't done anything with it that would make it space friendly? Are you keeping it? The trailer?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Also agree re: conversation. If there's anyone who would know, it'd be August.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : It was only a rental. Cute thing, but no need to keep it. So. Have you decided, then, to discuss this magazine with Alexander?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I think what I'm going to do is leave it on top of his computer along with the rest of his mail. See what he does. Observe the Wild Clayton in his native habitat like a true explorer.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Do you have a secret blind in his house where you watch him from?

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : No, but the couch has a really high back and it's directly across the hallway that looks into his office. I have a pair of binoculars and a pith helmet on standby, too. I'm prepared, Dr. Duchannes.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : I had no doubt that you would be. If you need a few random corpse props to leave casually laying about to observe his response to as well, I have been given several over the years.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Did you tell him that? Because I'm quite certain that'll bait him into your new cabin pretty much almost immediately.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : He might love the pillow I got for Christmas. I'll have to make sure it doesn't go missing.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : He would probably find the anatomically incorrect heart very endearing. Maybe I should get him one.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Certainly one of my top two christmas gifts. Of course, I didn't get Girls and Corpse this year, so factor that in as you will.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : I'll tell him you'd like to borrow his once he's done with it. After I record my findings. We and Minerva still on this weekend for some weird science?

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Ha. And yes. I'm looking forward to it. Should be interesting to get some actual results, one way or another, to start with.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Well, here's hoping we get actual results, then. But I should let you get back to it. Stay safe, Yule. Let me know how that chat with August goes if you catch him before the weekend.

(TXT to Isabella) Yule : Will do. Have a good one, and let me know how the observation of Alexander goes. Maybe. Unless it goes REALLY weird. Then keep it to yourself! 🙂

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Nope too late. You're getting everything now.

(TXT to Yule) Isabella : Goodnight!
