The Pourhouse isn’t too close to Wayne’s house but it’s close enough that she is comfortable walking, even at night. She isn’t the least bit concerned walking alone in the residential area once she’s crossed that threshold.

It’s an uneventful half an hour later when she finds herself in front of Wayne’s house, at his doorstep, her black slacks and pink blouse were covered by a plaid spring jacket. She rings the doorbell once, and waits.

Wayne had his laptop open and music playing in his office. Every so often he would go to the laptop and read before returning to his sketchbook. Hearing the doorbell was a bit startling as no one had called to say they were coming over. He makes his way to the door wearing blue jeans and a black tee shirt with a concert name on it, the band's listed down the back. When he opens it to see Katherine he is rather surprised.
"Hey Kate, I was not expecting you. Did you want to come in?" He steps to the side to let her.

Stepping into Wayne’s house tentatively, Katherine blurts out, “I was in the area, at the Pourhouse, taking the edge off, trying to get myself ready for this conversation but ... I can’t put it off anymore.” She stops a few paces and waits for Wayne to turn to face her after locking up before she said, “I have to tell you the whole story.”

Wayne locks the door and looks to Katherine. "Alright, do you want coffee or anything? We can sit in the living room." He nods and moves her into the living room before heading to the kitchen to make some coffee. He did not seem on edge but he was pretty good at hiding things that unsettle him.

“Maybe just some water,” Katherine opts out on caffeine, feeling like it’s not a good idea, as she settles onto the living room couch.

"Here you go." Wayne returns with glass of ice water and a steaming cup of coffee. He offers Katherine her drink before settling into his chair. "Whenecer you are ready."

She takes the water and drinks from it.

“We were engaged. He fucked a nurse to get out of our engagement and move to Gray Harbor almost two years ago.”

The first sentence is the hardest one to say but she says it. Katherine is afraid to make eye contact with Wayne but she continues on.

“Damn, can I get something stronger?” she requests quietly after her revelation. “You might want a drink too.”

"What's your poison tonight, this way I can make sure not to mix drinks and get you too smashed." Wayne chuckles but shakes his head. "Good idea but I'll pass for myself. I might need to drive you home or carry you to bed and both are done better sober." He rises and heads to the kitchen waiting to hear her drink of choice for tonight.

“Rum,” Katherine calls out from the couch in the living room, “I’m a coke and rum kind of girl, generally speaking.”

She fidgets, anxious about Wayne’s reaction to the revelation of her previous engagement.

Wayne returns with a tall glass of coke, likely spiked pretty hard with rum from the smell of it. "Here you go, one Rum and Coke. Now then, you were once engaged, go on." He nods before sitting back down.

“I didn’t want him back, I just wanted to hurt him.” There is a darkness in her tone when she speaks again. “Until I got sucked into his Dream and saw him badly injured. It took me a couple to days to realize that I was angry at myself because I still cared.”

It’s of note that the entire she’s speaking, she’s drinking at every natural stop in her dialogue, because rum and coke helps take the edge off.

“He wanted to apologize, I guess to clear his conscience or whatever. It doesn’t matter. After that conversation, I realized that we were young when we got engaged, and maybe it’s possible that we didn’t know what love was five years ago. Maybe we were never meant to be. And it all clicked. I gave him back everything I had of his, including the engagement ring. I have nothing left of my past with him.”

"That is a lot to keep bottled up inside. Glad it will work out for you two." Wayne sipped at his coffee, not sure there really was much to say to that.

“I shouldn’t have let my anger get the best of me.” Katherine sighs as she continues to drink and adds, “But now...I don’t know if we’ll be able to be friends but he said he would stop antagonizing me. And honestly, all I want is for him to stop being an asshole.”

She walks over to where he is sitting and she sits on his lap, and presses her lips against his, her kiss filled with passion and desire.

“You are the one I want, not Easton.”

Wayne rubs Katherine's back in a slow circle with kissing her before tapping her on her head. He leans back a little bit to smile. "For a smart person you are pretty dense. Your anger wasn't why we broke up, your need to strike back? Yeah still was not it. It is that you ignored what was going on around you. Your birthday comes once a year, just once. We spent a wonderful day together and you said you loved your gift. Its that all of that was meaningless to you in the face of trying to hurt him. I am worth more than that. If you forget that? Make sure you forget where I live. You want to move forward with me? That's the cost, if I do not measure up enough to warrant you using my name, if it's more important to complain about your ex, then you'll never find happiness with me."

“I understand. And things have already been different since last week.” And she really does understand. Katherine has made it clear to Easton and to anyone else who would listen who Wayne is and how important he is to her.

“I was upset that my attempts at clearing the air and making peace were met with him trying to get me to leave town and being an asshole. I was frustrated. But we’ve made peace now. I’ve let things go and I’m ready to focus on you.”

"Then why are you still talking about him?" Wayne shook his head with a grin. "You are still talking about the past. Do you want to talk about it, or do you want to cuddle in my lap and tell me.l about your day?" His hand had not stopped still rubbing a comforting circle on her back.

In response to his question, Kate cuddles up to Wayne and picks up where she left off to kiss him once more, her hands cupping his face as she does so, her passion and her desire taking over, just one drink down after half an hour of sobering up. But it’s enough for her inhibitions to loosen and her mind to focus on the moment she is having with Wayne.

Now that Wayne had her full attention, he kissed her back hard, allowing his own passion to ignite once more. His tongue teased Katherine's lips and tongue as they kiss, his right arm settling around her waist to keep her safely secured on his lap as they kiss. His mind was in the moment, not on his project.

Katherine finds her hands sliding down to his waist, undoing the top button of his jeans as the intensity of their kiss ramps up. But she doesn’t move to unzip his pants, the button being her own attempt at teasing while keeping his lips occupied.

Once done with the button, her lips travel down his neck as she says, “I’m sorry about everything.”

Wayne hissed as his body heats from Katherine's attention. "I know you are, I forgive you." The hand on her back slides down to undo her bra clasp as he leans forward to kiss her once more. He groans against her lips. "Should we move this to the bedroom?"

“Yes.” Katherine’s response comes as she continues to allow her lips to travel, kissing all over his neck.

Wayne settles his hands on her ass and lifts as he stands to carry her to the room. His movements are slow, likely because he is kissing Katherine and not trying to bang her into anything. Wayne matches her movements, kissing on Katherine's delicate neck.

As Wayne’s lips travel across her neck, Katherine lets out a quiet moan. She can feel herself getting aroused with every step he is taking towards his bedroom.

When they finally make it to their destination, Katherine moves back to kissing his lips, turning up the passion once more. She allows her desire to take over, something she isn’t used to doing. All there is is this moment with Wayne.

Wayne holds Katherine tight to his body, his own desire causing a stirring in his jeans. His mind can't seem to decide how to set her on ther bed, so he remains standing at the foot of it, teasing her tongue in a dance of passion within their mouths. He moans, feeling her desire.

Katherine disentangles herself from Wayne with a smile, stripping him of his shirt before going back to kissing his lips, not a single word uttered as she presses herself against his bare chest. As they’re kissing, she finally follows through and unzips his jeans.

Two can play that game is the thought going through Wayne's mind. He leans back to break the kiss and lifts the bottom of her blouse tossing it to join his shirt, then with a grin, reaches to send her bra away as well. His lips move to her neck, then down across her collarbone, gently kissing his way along.

She lets out a bit of a whine when he pulls away but when the clothing is stripped off and he starts kissing her collarbone, Katherine finds her words again. “I’ve missed you,” she says quietly into his ear as he makes his way down to her collarbone. Her hands travel, rubbing his back.

"I've missed you too." Wayne replies softly as he nibbled along her collarbone and back up Katherine's neck before softly kissing her ear. His hands wrap around her back, pressing bare chest to bare breasts. His lips move to her ear speaking in that low voice she enjoys. "Top drawer of the night stand, same amount as the day you left."

The low voice he uses sends Katherine’s mind in a tailspin as she says, “It’s a little out of reach right now but we’ll get there eventually. I just want to enjoy this. I want to enjoy you.” She has no interest in pulling herself away, even temporarily.

But as soon as it’s within arms reach, Kate definitely reaches for the drawer. Better safe than sorry.

Wayne made sure to help it get within reach by grinning as Kate spoke then tossing her on the bed. He crawls up the bed after his lover smiling as they were here again.
