2020-09-14 - The Journal of 1000 Cuts - Entry 1

They sit alone, a single light illuminating the journal in which they scribe their thoughts. The pen moves almost as if of its own accord, the dark ink bleeding into the paper with smooth efficiency from the fountain pen's nib. The only sound is the vague mumbling of others from a distance, through walls, unaware of who sits there, writing.

This place. Not more than two hours here and already I see Their presence, out in the open, in front of multiple people who shine with that delicious shimmer of power. I can feel it in the air, taste the fear and excitement in every breath, revel in that pull from my core to the thinnest point I've ever felt. It is right there, so near yet so very far. For now. They will show me the way. They promised. I just have work to do first. I need to choose the first one.
