Ainslie

Friendly A.F: Ainslie just has a way about her of talking with folks as if she's known them for years... even when she's just meeting them! She's not gabby persay, she's just not shy. She asks a lot of questions, always wanting to know people and what they're about.

Defensive Glimmer: Ten years ago, Ainslie discovered Glimmer by way of protecting herself. This simultaneously terrified her... and empowered her. Her Glimmer manifests in the vein of the Physical. When she is upset or angry, objects start to fly.. typically toward her assailant! How does she monitor this? She tries not to let anger get the best of her. You just might see this struggle! She is very protective toward people and things that are important to her.

A New Start: Ainslie has experienced some false starts, but for some reason Gray Harbor feels RIGHT... not happy-rainbows-and-sparkles right... but it feels as if the restless power within her has found it's niche. Though she is sometimes bewildered as to WHY she came here, Ainslie is trying to enmesh herself into the town.

Dual Heritage: Ainslie's mother hails from Eastern Canada and her father from Georgia, U.S. The latter became a naturalized Canadian citizen by way of marriage and a lengthy process. Listen carefully to her accent: it sounds like some sort of mutt-Irish.. or Scottish. It's hard to peg down. (NOTE: Watch an episode of Trailer Park Boys!)

Ms. Fixit: Spitting in the eye of all things delicate and feminine, Ainslie can repair her own feckin' backed-up toilets and emphysemic pickup truck, thankyouverymuch. In all seriousness, in her years alone since leaving home, she has had to make do on her own. Ainslie is in possession of a fiercely independent spirit and therefore, she is handy. Need help? She may be able to help you out of a jam. Or curse a blue streak right alongside you.

Good at a Party: Ainslie isn't afraid of a drink and when she's really on a tangent, she can break out her fiddle. She's basically the one ingredient you need for a kitchen party.

Badass Cleaning Lady: As of March 2020, Ainslie has traded in her waitress gig for full-time employment at The Hub. Though she is still startled by the proposition herself, Ainslie is grateful to Stefhan and loyal to his business. You can find her there through the week, keeping the storefront spruced up and orderly.

Nearly thirty years ago Ainslie O'Connor was born to a Canadian mother and the American father who would later become a naturalized Canadian citizen. Frederick Parrish, while touring the Maritimes, found himself enamored with a gregarious, musical woman.. so much that eleven months later, the pair welcomed Ainslie. Freddie did the honest thing proposed to Ivy O'Connor. The decision was made to settle in Ivy's small hometown of Inverness, Nova Scotia (and to keep Ivy's maiden name) once Fred acquired his citizenship.

Ivy worked as a certified care aide and Fred was hired on at one of the local golf courses in the picturesque, quaint town. As Ainslie grew, she was connected with both parents on equal footing: Ivy taught her how to cook those fine down-home meals and give a good musical rip on the fiddle; Fred saw to it that his daughter knew how to take care of herself, be it keeping up with the technological times... or how to maintain a car. This brought Ainslie's love for vintage cars to rip-roaring life. Life was good and Ainslie grew up at an even clip...

... until her Glimmer awakened at the age of eighteen. It was during a house party to celebrate high school graduation, when one of the local boys got a bit too handsy. Push came to shove and in her moment of panic, when Ainslie was sure she was about to get raped in a shed, a great force erupted from her mind and body. A heavy tool cabinet -- one of those metal numbers with five drawers, full of tools -- was abruptly heaved at her assailant. The foolhardy boy was left with a broken set of vertebrae that would leave him paralyzed below the waist. People did not know what to think and the stories were disjointed.... eventually it was chalked up to being drunk and clumsy. But Ainslie knew.

Guilt was what drove Ainslie to eventually leave her home, and in those travels she could not help but experiment and try to understand why she could use her anger as a physical force. Aided by her family she sought to start over... so Ainslie went West, to wherever her dual citizenship would take her. It goes without saying that after her years of city-hopping, the Veil had a 'hand' in guiding Ainslie to where her strange abilities would be seen as commonplace. Dreams, hunches and things that Ainslie just COULDN'T explain led her to Gray Harbor in April of 2018.

Present day, Ainslie resides in single-wide over in the Huckleberry Trailer Park. Without even thinking, she sank her nest-egg into purchasing the trailer (not the land, of course), as it was within her price range. A modest income is made as a waitress at a local greasy spoon and she is content enough, if not homesick from time-to-time. It's not her dream job, but it's a stepping stone... in a town where she is, in fact, quite normal afterall.

Whipcord lean and comprised of compact muscle and slender limbs, Ainslie O'Connor stands at a height of about five-foot-eight. She isn't much to sniff at in regards to curvature but what she does have, it suits her well. It seems as if she is always moving with a swift sense of urgency... always wanting (needing) to be busy.

Ainslie can be considered striking in her own carefree way: lightly tanned skin, amber eyes, a full-lipped mouth and wayward chocolate brown hair that has been roughly shorn off just below her shoulder-blades. She is NOT one to dress fancy, favoring denims in various states of distress, no-fuss-no-muss shirts and/or blouses. Ainslie is not above the odd dress either... but that will either take a lot of beer, or forcing her at gunpoint.
