Caleb

• Local Brainiac - Caleb grew up in Gray Harbor. He went to school here, known as the local smart guy, eventually heading off to MIT for school.

• Junior College Teacher - He came back to Gray Harbor with a PhD in chemistry and set himself up as the chemistry teacher at Bayside Community College. The students like him 'cause he loves to make chemistry flashy. The other staff are convinced that he's gonna burn the place down one day.

That local nerd that blew the curve all the time, that was Caleb Lambert. He was always a social outcast, which just compounded his general bizarreness. PLUS, he was one of those people that was different pretty much from birth. While other kids at least got to have a normal childhood, Caleb knew something was off about him from childhood. It made for a lonely childhood, to be honest. Fortunately, he was a nice enough guy that he managed not to make any enemies - just not a whole lotta friends, either.

An only child, Caleb wound up shouldering all his parents' expectations. They wanted a doctor. Really badly. But dealing with people just wasn't for him. Off-the-charts intelligence at least meant that he had his pick of colleges. After graduation, he went east, all the way to MIT, as a matter of fact, and wound up pursuing his education up to the point of a PhD in Chemistry. He should've gone on to work in the private sector, making a pile of money...

...but, no lie, he missed home. At least in Gray Harbor, his oddness fit in. Sure, he ran into other people like him out in the wild, but home was home. Even though his parents had moved out of town while he was in college, Gray Harbor was still his place. So he took a job as the junior college Chemistry teacher, and basically eased into his role as the local mad scientist.

He's cool with it.

Oh, he's about 5'11" tall with light brown hair, a beard, glasses, and he's on the chubby side. If the world was full of people with roguish good looks, he would stand out just 'cause he's the opposite: a pretty much normal-looking guy that could stand to drop a couple of pounds and have a shave. Caleb's hair is light brown and cut without a care of style, just clipped till it's about an inch long on top; in between haircuts, it lengthens so the fuzzy mess proves to be made of thick curls. His eyes are brown behind a pair of plain black glasses, the frames a little thick; they're transitions, so they change to sunglasses when he's outside. He wears his beard trimmed but not really groomed, but it serves to make a soft chin and jaw look bear-like instead of pudgy.

It's easy to imagine Caleb's routine for picking out clothes: Grab something clean, put it on. If it has holes in it, throw it away. In this way, he pretty much ensures that his wardrobe consists of a shirt, some pants, and whatever weather-appropriate gear is necessary for the day.
