Jacob

• Outsider: He set up his office a few weeks ago, and moved to town not long before that. Doesn't really know what's going on in town, but is getting situated as he sees patients, hears little tidbits, etc.
• Doctor: Office! He's a doctor - a GP specifically, so he can do.. doctory things for you. He works on a sliding scale, and his neighborhood office is a lot less crowded (and less likely to pry) than the hospital.
• Tragic Family-fu: He was in a pretty serious car accident a few months ago, in which his spouse and child died. He made it out much better, all things considered. He does not want to talk about it.
• Temper Temper: It takes a lot to rile him up, but once you've got him going, he's not going to take shit from anybody.
• Alky Breaky Heart: Drinks too much, though it hasn't gotten to a point of it being a serious problem. Yet.
• Nerd: A little too into nerd stuff, especially video games and Star Trek. They're distractions.
• Spend it: His spouse was a doctor as well, so their combined finances plus the life insurance policy on both of them led up to a pretty hefty paycheck. He's not hesitant to spend it on himself, with the nice apartment at the Bayside, and the Maserati. Especially the Maserati. They're also distractions, but they're also pretty nice distractions.

Jacob's a newly minted and board certified doctor in his late 30s. He's new in town and has just opened up his own doctor's office. American born on the east coast, he grew up doing well in school, proceeding to head down a path in medicine. While attending John Hopkins for medical school, he ran into a difficult case where a patient that he had befriended had not being diagnosed after spending quite some time at the hospital, he found his spirit glimmer abilities, and was able to identify the rare form of cancer when combined with his existing medical knowledge. Completing medical school, and then his residency, he honed his ability to diagnose and heal others. This went well for a time, but as it does for everyone who uses their abilities frequently, the dark men came to feed upon him.

During his residency, he met and fell in love with another doctor at John Hopkins. They got married after a brief romance, and subsequently had a child. Shortly before completing his residency program, the dark men's machinations caused a car accident that took the life of his spouse and child. Jacob was seriously injured in the accident as well, but he was unconscious for several days, so by the time he would have been able to help them with his power, well, they'd long since passed on. This affected Jacob greatly, and given the circumstances and prior exemplary performance, the remaining weeks of his residency program was waved off, and he was subsequently board certified as a general practitioner.

He decided that he needed a change of scenery to help him move on after the tragic events. After extensive research, he decided that Gray Harbor was in need of a doctor, took the considerable savings and life insurance money from the accident, and moved to town to set up a doctor's office. In the process, he purchased an expensive car and a similarly expensive condo at the Bayside Apartments.

Jacob has considerable medical knowledge in addition to his spirit glimmer powers. Combined, these make him a pretty formidable healer, but his emotional state over his recent past have left him with no small number of demons to cope with. He's drinking too much and spending too much. These haven’t caused him any serious issues yet, but time will tell.

Jacob's fairly easy on the eyes, depending on the eyes of the beholder, of course. He's taller than average, a bit over six feet tall. He’s got short red hair and a full beard, with pale skin. Pretty much a standard order ginger, hold the freckles. In most circumstances that he’ll be encountered in, he’ll be wearing trousers and a monogrammed doctor’s coat over a suit shirt and tie with sensible shoes for the outfit. Otherwise, he’ll be wearing pretty casual clothes, jeans and a t-shirt.

He’s got a slightly muscled frame, a habit taken and kept up since his pre-med days. He’s not ripped or really especially muscular, but his work on his body shows underneath the standard male doctor uniform.

Wrinkles have started to crease his expressions, which is brooding more often than not, making him look slightly older than he actually is.
