Former Military: She spent ten years in the Air Force post-911 before switching over to civilian government service. She certainly wasn't in the trenches, but she's flown over almost anywhere in recent conflicts. Details are hard to pull out of her, but she can go on about aerial cameras and imagery, and has surprisingly heated opinions about the word 'drone.'
Nondescript Government Official: She has an office in the federal building downtown, but others say it's a locked one that no one else really has access to. A little much for someone who is just helping the county bring their geographic information systems up to modern standards, right?
Armchair Historian: She has a deep interest in a myriad of historical subjects, from medieval women's lives and textile archaeology, up to and including restoring historical houses. Really, she even just looks like someone who will totally sling ale at a Ren Faire encampment while explaining how hops were not routinely used in brewing until the 16th century. She may be seen lurking at open showings whenever homes of a certain vintage come on the market, and asking questions about local history and geography doesn't seem too out of line...
Perfectly Sane Cat Lady: Since this is her first assignment CONUS and without frequent travel in quite a few years, Maddie may also be seen lurking at animal shelters and feeding the neighborhood strays looking for her next familiar - uh - pet.
Crafty So-and-so: She sews, she knits, she embroiders, she weaves, she patches her own clothing, she brews, she cooks, she bakes, she gardens, and dabbles in a handful of other hobbies aside. She might not be the best there ever was at any of them, but she clearly enjoys making things. Only somewhat related, she only drinks craft beer. Often while doing the above.
Grade-A Nerd: The first thing she did in town was get a library card and figure out where the used bookstores were. Most of her boxes when she moved in were heavy, small boxes of books. She's definitely Not Looking for a gaming group; she still has the main quest of Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland Doggo on the PC to finish. But did you say you game?
I Work out So I Can Drink: Though the drinking (and good food) is really the point. Maddie does enjoy hiking - if at a slow, hobbit-like pace - and begrudgingly jogs a few days a week, just in case she isn't actually stuck in a desk job forever.
Quiet Sentry: She seems quite introverted, except for an occasional beer and dinner out. But you can almost see her ears perk up if certain esoteric topics come up in public...
Except for an obvious predilection to body art, this woman seems remarkably average. She is of average height, perhaps just a little chubby, with dark hair that could be considered to be 'long, raven-like tresses' - if she'd ever use any products, dye over the shimmers of gray, or ended a bad habit of scratching her hands through her hair when she's thinking. She can't be bothered to wear makeup besides a bit of black eyeliner, so her hazel eyes are more on the dark and hooded side of the sultry spectrum, and she seems perfectly fine with her plump cheeks and chin divot over any modern sense of highlighted, chiseled cheekbones. Now, she's no sloth, but the only artistic aspect of her appearance are her tattoos. Full sleeves on both arms depict ravens, owls, and even a few moths, bats, and pigeons in flight, wound through with various wildflowers, lightning bolts, and a few esoteric lines and symbols that some might recognize as medieval magical drawings, ourobourus, and also modern optics line-drawings.
She almost always wears black. Sometimes, she switches it up with a band or video game tee.
