Rafael

Musician - He teaches music lessons, mainly piano, but he offers beginner guitar as well as vocal coaching. He also publishes his own songs, some original some covers online. YouTube lets anyone be a star.. kind of.

Outsider - He's not a native, and he's only recently come to town. He doesn't have a good reason for moving here, that he shares.

Glimmer - He has the gift. Or the curse. Or whatever you want to call it.

Ex-Junkie - He used to be deep into drugs and alcohol and he still bears some of the scars. He doesn't touch the stuff anymore. Sometimes he'll show his face at support groups.

Raf is a first generation American, born to parents that came to the US from Spain. His family is large, but his father kept them at least comfortable with the restaurant he owned. Raf however showed an early aptitude for music, something he inherited from his mother. All through school he got good grades and applied himself, he got a scholarship to a prestigious performing arts school in New York which his father was willing to pay for the rest of. He was doing well in his studies there and even formed a relationship with one of his fellow students. This was a problem, at least as far as his very traditional father was concerned as Raf came out to his family. His father disowned him, and despite efforts to take out loans he couldn't continue in college and was forced to drop out.

He couldn't return home and tried to make ends meet but fell into drugs and alcohol. It's also when the dreams started. Strange weird dreams and he swore he could do things. But he was usually drunk and high when things happened so he wrote it off. The bad dreams just drove him to self-medicate more. Eventually he ended up on the bad side of law enforcement and ended up spending a few months in jail for possession. When he got out he cleaned up his act, joined NA, and started teaching music lessons to make ends meet, even publishing some of his own stuff online. The dreams didn't go away, and while part of him wanted to ignore them, another part of him wanted to experience them. He figured out he could move things, affect the world around him. He kept it to himself, but he tinkered.

Eventually he encountered someone from a town called Gray Harbor, someone who could do things like he could and claimed others there could as well. Though the man had no intention of going back himself, he nudged Raf in that direction. The dreams started nudging as well. Eventually he picked up and moved across country, unable to resist the lure.

Raf is a lean man in his late twenties that stands around an even six feet in height. He has the olive complexion of someone with Mediterranean heritage. His black hair is unruly and naturally curly. Sometimes he tries to tame it, most of the time he just lets it do what it's going to do, but it's kept short enough to keep out of his hazel eyes. There's usually a bit of scruff on his jaw from not shaving every day. He has something of a boyish look though that might make someone think him a few years younger than he is.
