Backing onto the waterfront, the homestead of Zinnia and Calla Landis is picturesque and straight-up lovely. Someone living here must have a green thumb because the landscaping is on-point. In the spring and summer there are various flowering bushes that come to life in a payload of lilac, honeysuckle and gardenia. A tidy cobblestone pathway leads up from the main roadway to the very front stoop of the house. Two huge rosebushes stand sentinel at both sides of the main doorway.
The actual homestead is a well-maintained cottage, the exterior consisting newer carnelian red siding. Upon entering though one is met with an array of nautical-themed decor, with a bent for 'cool' colors such as blue hues, ivory, soft gray and the exception of taupe. There are nods to the actual age of the cottage that can be found throughout the pretty space: tidy wainscotting, large multi-paned bay windows, the intimacy of the surrounding walls. Though there have been lots of renovations, the 1880s still shine through.
The downstairs consists of a tidy kitchen, a smaller bathroom with a standup shower, den, spare bedroom and the large master bedroom belonging to the elder sister, Zinnia Landis. A narrow staircase leads upstairs to a loft and adjoining secondary bathroom with a sloped ceiling. This space is used by Calla Landis, containing a plethora of art supplies and other personal effects.
The space as-a-whole is incredibly clean and welcoming, with plenty of windows admiting sunshine and the sighing breath of the nearby sea.
