Bauer Building - Perdita's Penthouse

While the rest of the building may be in a state of disrepair, the previous owners have obviously cared a great deal about the penthouse apartment. Accessed by a second elevator from the 7th floor, or from a staircase that leads to the front door of the penthouse, the exterior of this floor is painted a soft sage green. While it lacks some of the ornate decor of the rest of the building on the exterior, the interior has been restored with the original dentil trim and wainscoting in the public rooms.

It features three bedrooms, a full bath and a half bath, a small kitchen and a spacious dining and living area. The living room is decorated with a feminine touch, soft rose curtains over the massive windows that look out over Gray Harbor. Over the mantle, a large television is positioned on a mount that allows it to swivel as needed or be repositioned. The furniture is an eclectic but pleasant mix of contemporary and antique, with a strong preference for mid-century modern shown in the tables about the room, and dark gray upholstery on the softer furnishings, accented with brighter tones, pink and white. In one corner of the living room is a marble table with a statue of a dark skinned woman wearing pale teal robes and a veil over her head. Over the window behind her hangs a bicolor flag representing a blue sky and green grass, with a large sixteen spoke red wheel at its center. On the corner next to the Romani flag, a Trans Pride flag hangs.

The real star of the penthouse, however, is the garden spaces on the roof. Accessed through two separate entry doors with sturdy screen doors, or through the veranda, one side features a large fire pit with chairs and benches surrounding, and a jacuzzi large enough to seat six if they're close friends. This side has a view of the water and the boats that float by along the river, is decorated with fairy lights strung up along poles, and has several flowering bushes in large pots to soften the harsh edges of the building. The other outdoor space is home to a lovely garden growing in raised flower beds, mostly edible plants, though there are a few ornamental flowers and bushes as well, and a more formal outdoor dining area, with heavy wrought iron chairs and table.
