Clarence Thatchery, Gray Harbor's Police Chief, was found brutally murdered today while apparently camping in the Firefly Forest. The respected police officer was found with two gunshot wounds to the head and neck. As of the time of this reporting, the Police Department has not issued a formal statement on the incident, nor have arrests been made in the attack. The Gazette will share more details on this shocking story as they develop.

(OOC: This kicks off a crime/law gang-conflict plot! These guys are not playing around and will be trying to take over the town from Felix. If you want some heavies to lean on you for protection money, or to try and stop you from paying Felix his cut, reach out to Joey, Ruiz, or myself. Can't promise we'll get to everyone on-screen, but could be fun! They're nasty folk, so property damage and/or personal damage may ensue.)

The Gray Harbor Police Department and the office of Mayor Clyde Addington released a joint statement today announcing that Captain Javier Ruiz de la Vega will service as the acting Chief of Police until such time as the Mayor's office and City Council can agree on a permanent replacement. Sources close to both offices have called the discussions contentious.
The article goes on to talk a little about the career of the interim Chief, including his role in the investigation into last summer's double-homicide that sent casino mogul Joshua Foster for prison, using that to segue into more about how the Mayor and the City Council want to use this as a chance to get "tough on crime."
