Run-down but well-stocked, Safeway is the major grocery store in town. There are a few other places to shop, but this is where most people descend to get their groceries. The layout seems to be constantly changing, though, so just when a person thinks they figured out what aisle has the cereal, the staff decides to mix it up and turn that into the wine aisle or the bread aisle or the shampoo aisle. As such, the place is constantly in disarray. And the credit card machines break all the time, so be sure to check for a "CASH ONLY - SORRY" sign upon entering.
But at least it's open 24-7 - even holidays, with the crankiest cashiers ever around 2 a.m. or on Christmas morning. So woe unto the last-minute or late-night shopper.
