7 Oak Avenue

The bones of the big, two story house at 7 Oak Avenue are probably nearly a century old, but it's seen more recent additions and renovations which hide some of that age. The muted olive green siding is tasteful enough to suggest some modernity, complementing the stonework on the lower level of the house well. It matches the two-car detached garage to the left of the residence. A stone path extends from the garage to the concrete walk leading up to the porch and stretching down to the sidewalk, imperfectly parallel with the driveway. The small patio has enough room for a few chairs or a bench, but currently houses boxes, evidence of new residents only recently moving in.

To the right of the porch steps, the nearest shrub has seen better days, half-crushed some while back and still not fully recovered. The rest of the plants and the lawn are reasonably well-kept, sometimes getting a bit shaggy before someone finds time to trim.

Porch Posts:

All of the porch posts have been painted with rainbows. Their centers are a warm, sunshiny yellow which occupies about half of the space before sinking into greens, blues and indigos at the bottom and rising to oranges, pinks and violets at the top. They all follow the same pattern, though there's enough inconsistency to suggest they were done by hand, proportions gauged by eye.
