Addington Memorial Hospital

At five stories, Addington Memorial is one of the largest buildings in town, and is something of an eyesore as it looms over the park. The brick exterior boasts a large sign ADDINGTON MEMORIAL, with several smaller nested against it to direct patients and visitors to various departments, most notably the ER and Main Entrance.

The interior is in need of a refurbishing, from smudged paint to old flooring tiles, a drop ceiling with broken and cracked tiles, and the lighting that's mid-process being upgraded to LEDs from fluorescent tubes, to be completed, according to more than a few employees, just shy of never.

A wide front desk stops all comers, requiring check-in and paperwork, receptionist too busy for nonsense. Volunteer workers direct families to a nearby waiting room in view of the desk, or to the bank of elevators for travel to departments on other floors. A handy DIRECTORY displays location information on all features and departments. A vaguely sterile, antiseptic scent always fills the air here.

Receptionist:

The weekday receptionist at the hospital is a woman in her mid-forties named Marilyn Pursley. She's a gossip, has all kinds of complaints from patients and staff, but she's both damned efficient at running the lobby and the niece of one of the hospital board members, so it's not like she'll ever get fired. The other receptionists are generally just harried and tend to shorter tenures, but Marilyn? She's been here forever.
