This two-story victorian is sided in wood painted a deep blue-black, decorative flourishes matte black. Window boxes are planted seasonally, adding discreet white flowers and draping greens to the restored facade.
Heavy wooden doors open to a grand foyer, a wide staircase ascending to the second floor, a small rope hung across it during business hours. To the left of the foyer is the Funeral Director's office, and to the right are two single occupancy restrooms. Past the staircase, straight ahead, is the service room.
The service room is large with high ceilings, windows draped in sheer white curtains to screen the light to keep it bright inside without being harsh. Aubergine blackout curtains are available for evening services. Near the entrance is a tall table intended to hold a guest book, cookies, and remembrances. Seating is ample and comfortable, mixed warm vintage wood and leather. A slightly raised platform is set to hold the casket or urn, along with space for flower arrangements and photograph stands. The light here is warm and easily adjusted, music piped in from discreet speakers upon request. It smells sweet here, like flowers and cookies.
Accessibility:
A wheelchair ramp with a switchback is set slightly to one side of the wide wrap-around porch, allowing for access. The slope is gentle, with a switchback, wide enough for large chairs and motorized chairs alike.
Parking:
A small parking lot is set behind the house, edged in lovely plants that bloom in spring and summer, with a selection of greens to add interest in the colder months. An attached garage is wide enough to house a hears, limo, and body elevator that services the basement expansion.
Office:
Comfortable chairs are clustered around a low coffee table in dark wood, a couch and heavy vintage chairs upholstered in leather. Tissue boxes are at the ready, along with sleek white portfolios containing funerary packages, music lists, caskets, urns, and other options. A door marked Private is usually locked, and leads to a storage area, a short hall, and the staircase to the basement.
