Walking in the front door, one gets the feeling someone has made this a home that wasn’t always used to staying in one place. There’s comfortable looking furniture, like the gently used sectional wrap-around couch, a big polyester Puerto Rican flag hung on the wall above it. It faced the fireplace which had a large flat-screen TV mounted above it, flanked by two enormous speakers stands. The linked dining area has a table centered under a modern-styled hanging lamp. A laptop that looks a few years old sits on a side table, linked to the TV by a long cord that just sits out, ready to be tripped over at any moment. One can feel right away that none of the furnishings were matched, though, more a cobbling of what was needed than a true designing of the space. One hallway leads to the bathroom and the two bedrooms, an archway leads into the kitchen area.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is modern and galley style, with granite countertops and a dark wood finish. The stovetop and oven is across from the sink and there’s enough wide enough floor space for two people to pass each other easily enough. A three-tier rotating rack stands on one counter, loaded to the brim with herbs and spices, some brand-name, some in simple plastic containers. Likely, there’s usually some sort of packaged edibles there as well.
Rekani's Room:
Very much an early 20-something room, furniture is packed into the space to maximise usable area. The corner has an entire wrap-around desk setup. One end has two arm-mounted computer monitors with keyboard beneath, and the rest stretches with a full musical setup, including a mixing and level equalizer, digital keyboard, and two turntables. One of those clear plastic mats is layed down so the rolling chair can move easily between each part of it. A stand holds an acoustic guitar with electronic mic pickups. Almost as an afterthought, the queen sized bed is shoved in another corner. A door leads into a large closet.
