(TXT to Alexander) Yule : Question for you. All this data I'm collecting. Feels like the less paperwork the better. No waiver forms, nothing that can link samples back to anyone. Is that just wishful thinking that it will help people avoid Their attention?
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : I don't think They care about documentation. But I think it will help protect people, still. Not from black helicopters or anything, but from other people like us, who would happily exploit the vulnerable and powerful.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : So if there is no paper trail, how do They know whose blood it is? That would seem to indicate there is indeed something in the blood supernatural, yeah? Maybe not. Might be over thinking it. And yeah, agreed. I'd rather leave less of a trail than more, and just anonymize all the data, destroy samples once done.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : I don't think They track blood. They track the use of our abilities.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : So they won't have anyway of knowing who is helping, then. Unless those people use their abilities too.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Probably. Data insufficient. It's not just Them. 'People' on the other side, like the Archivist or Vivisectionist, seem to have more ways to track and monitor us. They may not be enemies, but I don't know that I'd call them friends. They may take an interest.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : Yeah. I only know of the Vivisectionist, what Isabella shared. I'll have to figure out some way to keep the data safe, I suppose. Jotting it down in a notebook just won't cut it.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : So far, haven't run into anyone over There who seems to have a computer. Solid encryption might help?
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : Yeah. I'll just have to find someone who knows what they are doing with computers better than I do. Certainly can use them, but security? Not my expertise.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Hmm. Yeah. Although - fair warning; the data might end up erased or corrupted. I don't think I've ever seen any written record of our abilities that was clear, that survived.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : You might talk to Anne. She's a professional archivist, and she's familiar with Other There, a little. She might have an idea on how to preserve sensitive data.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : All right. I'll check with her, get her thoughts. Sounds like she's quite knowledgable about these things, so won't freak out, yeah?
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Oh no. Definitely won't freak out.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : And I wonder how... a code would help. I'll keep a hard copy of shit in some way too, then, but I wonder if it is obfuscated, so it looks 'normal', for lack of a better word, if the data would be left alone.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Maybe. I don't know. I've tried to take pictures and videos and things, but anything I tried to show other people was ruined or inconclusive. I've never really tried to keep written records, outside of case notes.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : Only one way to find out, I suppose. Will keep you informed on how it goes.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Thank you. I can translate things into Latin if needed. Or Ancient Greek, but that's a bit of a pain. Also, I don't suppose you have access to the PD's cold case files?
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : I know someone who loves cold cases in the PD. Anything in particular you are looking for?
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Yeah. Disappearance of a girl named Jill Baxter at the carousel. I was going to ask--well, never mind. If you have someone who could access it, that would be great. She disappeared on the day Elvis died. August 16, 1977.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : I'll take a look into it. Esme isn't in The Know... doesn't glimmer. But she's curious. And she loves cold cases. And do you think it is somehow related to Elvis, or are you just giving me your fun trivia fact of the day.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Fun trivia fact. It was also a Tuesday. And more I'm curious if the case was ever resolved, with finding the girl's body or reuniting her with the family. Paper didn't say.
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : Will let you know what she finds out.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Thank you. 🙂 And happy new year. Will you be going to the Historical Society's ball thing?
(TXT to Alexander) Yule : Won't be. Spending New Years in Portland. Be nice to be out for a couple of days.
(TXT to Yule) Alexander : Indeed. Enjoy yourself, Yule. 🙂
