Text

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Hi Alex. It's Violet.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Hello, Violet. It's Alex.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : How are you?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I'm okay. It's quiet now. It wasn't for awhile. Today, I think, wasn't a good day.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Quiet at the store now?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Or Alice is quiet now?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It's always quiet in the store. Most people treat it like a graveyard.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But yes. Alice is quiet now.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I like your store. It's not like a graveyard. It feels comfortable.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I'd rather people treat it like a graveyard than a zoo

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But it's comfortable to me

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I like being around stuff.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Old stuff

(TXT to Violet) Alex : A zoo because they come to look at you?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Yes. Mostly. It's okay though. I'm used to it.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It doesn't bother me. They don't really see me.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Just because you're okay with something doesn't make it an okay thing to do.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I'm sorry. I'm out of sorts today.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I didn't sleep well.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I'm not about to tell them to stop. It wouldn't do any good, anyway.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : You didn't sleep well?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Are you okay?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Yes. It just started my day off badly.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : You should put up a sign with directions to the zoo.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : In the window of your store.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : And tell people who just come to gawk to read the sign.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Tea helps

(TXT to Alex) Violet : With not sleeping well. Less so with directing people where to go.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Have you been to the zoo? It's sad.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I have not. A small-town zoo seems like it would be sad.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I have been to the San Diego Zoo.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I don't even know if it qualifies as a real zoo.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It's just some small monkeys and birds that should probably be flying, not stuck in cages.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Why wouldn't it?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Oh. Yes, that sounds sad.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I'm surprised no one has started a petition to close it.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : That seems like something that would happen in Washington state.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I think most people around here have other things to worry about.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Sometimes when it's dark, I go up there and feed fruit to the monkeys. It's not allowed. But I do it.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I guess, at least, they have each other. So they are not alone.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I doubt they will tell on you for feeding them fruit.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Is it dreams?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : The reason you didn't sleep well.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Did you have a dream?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Yes.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Nightmarish.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Tea doesn't help for those.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : No, I will take some Tylenol and go to sleep early and be fine tomorrow.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Maybe. It depends on the kind of dream.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : It's stress.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It didn't hurt you, did it?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : What didn't?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : The dream.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Sometimes they hurt.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I woke up very unhappy.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Is that what you're asking?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : No.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But if all you did was wake up unhappy, then it's okay.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : It was a bad dream, probably triggered by stress.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : It was very vivid, though.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I'm sure.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But you didn't get hurt?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Just unhappy?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I hurt my hand and my leg. I was tossing and turning.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : [...]

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I think the cut is infected. Which is absurd.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Be careful.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I cleaned it. It will be fine.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Or I will give myself a shot.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : But it won't come to that.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : How did you get out?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Of the dream.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I woke up.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : How do you get out of dreams?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : No. In the dream. How did you get out?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Of what?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Of the dream.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I wasn't dreaming about a dream.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : That's not what I mean. Was there a door? Did you have to answer a question? I always have to find something. Usually Alice.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Not the actual her. But sometimes a picture. Or something of hers.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Do you have the same dream often?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : No. Never.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : It is a different dream but the same theme?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : No. There are just some dreams that I have to leave from.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : They aren't all bad.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : You should check your watch. That's usually how you can tell if it's a dream.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Or try to read something.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Very few people can read in their dreams.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Was this your first time?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Your questions are confusing me.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I have had many dreams, Violet.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But have you had dreams like that before? Where you woke up hurt?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I don't understand them. But Alice tells me some things. Not very much. Enough to be scared, not enough to know.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : [...]

(TXT to Violet) Alex : To be scared of what?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Them. Like I said.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : The dreams?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : No. The things in the dreams.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I told you that this town was weird.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I'm not crazy.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : If that's what you're thinking.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Alice wasn't, either.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I'm going to ask you an uncomfortable question.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Okay?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : ok.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : If Alice isn't crazy, why is she in a mental institution?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : [...]

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It's complicated.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It's not something I want to text.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I understand.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I don't know if it's something you need to know.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Okay.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But if your dreams are hurting you, maybe you do.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : If you want to tell me, then I will listen.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : You should think about what you did. To leave.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : You might need it again.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : But they don't always hurt, at least.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I didn't leave.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : My phone buzzed, and it woke me up.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Okay.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Just.. don't stay in the good ones, either.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Even if they seem really, really good.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Please explain.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Just do the things you said. If you're dreaming. Look at your watch and try to read something. And if you can do both of those things? Don't stay. Do the thing you did before, to leave.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I didn't do anything.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : okay. You should probably pay more attention next time then.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Most people forget their dreams entirely within 10 minutes of waking.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : You are not most people, Alex

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I forget most of my dreams within 10 minutes of waking.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Did you forget this one?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : No.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : That's why I said most.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I stand by what I said. You are not like most people.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : This conversation is worrisome to me.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : In the interests of full disclosure.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : What worries you about it?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : You're not going to like it.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Okay.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : [...]

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I will tell you when I see you again.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I think you should just tell me now.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : No.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Fine. I think I know what it is anyway.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : This conversation is going badly.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It's all right.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Is it?

(TXT to Alex) Violet : [...]

(TXT to Alex) Violet : It will be.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : We can talk at the park. Tomorrow, or another day. There's a quiet spot, where we won't be bothered.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Okay.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I'm sorry for being out of sorts.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : At you.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : It's not your fault.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : You're just being honest.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Even with the things you won't say.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : I would say them in person.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Then you can say them at the park.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Then I will say them at the park.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Violet.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Alex.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Please don't worry.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : About the things I don't want to say over text.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I shouldn't worry about the things that worry you about our conversation that you won't tell me?

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Yes.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Precisely.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : I'm not crazy, Alex. But I'm not stupid, either.

(TXT to Alex) Violet : Goodnight. I hope your dreams are better tonight.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Thank you.

(TXT to Violet) Alex : Good night.
