Nathaniel will probably take maybe 15 minutes to find clean clothes, a couple packs of microwave popcorn, and then realize he didn't really ask what kind of movie she wanted to watch. So rather than asking, takes a wild stab and grabs the original Hellboy, Iron Man, Rogue One, It, and The Princess Bride. Might as well be thorough about your selection of genres, right? He does indeed have an absolutely HUGE purple umbrella that could hide about four people, so if she did happen to be looking for him, he'd be hard to miss. Jeans, a brown t-shirt, and a leather jacket to stave off the cold, with his prizes tucked under one arm, he stops at the front door to knock anyway before trying it.

"Come on in!" Mariah calls from the kitchen. She lives in one of the bungalows that are rare along the road. Everything is on one floor and it's just easier to take care of. Especially with her job. She comes around the corner and gives a smile to him, "Hi there. Come on in and make yourself comfortable." she tells him. She's dressed in an old pair of ripped up light wash jeans and a cotton candy pink sweat shirt. Her hair is put up messily, but it's a good look for her. "Did you want a beer or anything? Or soda?" she asks him.

Nathaniel smiles brightly and a little awkwardly, forgetting for a moment to close the door behind him when he catches sight of her, but like a delayed reaction, finally glances back, reaches over, and pushes the door closed, "Well, any beer you think is good enough to bring home is probably one I should accept an offer for. Thank you." He folds the umbrella up and leaves it on the tile by the door where its not going to get anything wet, finally stepping forward and repasting that smile on his face, holding the DVDs in one hand and the popcorn in the other, "I feel like I should surrender one of these to you and have you point me at the other?"

Mariah gives a soft smile to him as he closes the door finally, "It's not the best beer, but it works." she muses. Then there's a look to what he has in his hands, "How about I make popcorn and you can tell me what movies you brought?" she asks him as she holds her hand out.

Nathaniel hands over the popcorn packets and nods his head once, turning to slowly follow after her and perhaps lean against the kitchen doorway while she works, because, well, that hair, "I thought the first Hellboy would be a safe bet, but just in case, I also brought the first Iron Man, Rogue One if you're in the mood for Star Wars, It if you want something to creep the bejesus out of you since it IS raining outside, or the Princess Bride if you are in the mood for something more casual and relaxed." He glances up, trying to catch a read on her assessment of the choices offered.

Mariah gives a smile to him and then she's padding those barefeet back towards the kitchen, it's not hard to keep track of her really. She listens to him as he lists off movies and there's a look to him, "Oh if we watch IT you're definetly going to have to stay, because I will feel like a clown is going to eat me in the night." she chuckles. "And oooo. The Princess Bride. One of my favorites." she grins. "How about creepy clown or ROUS'?" she offers as she puts one bag in the microwave.

Nathaniel files that little bit of information away. Princess Bride quotes, check. The geek flag is a little safer to fly here. He debates with himself for a moment and tilts his head, "Have you SEEN this remake?" He holds up the It case, "Because if you haven't, maybe you should. Respect and all for Tim Curry, but Skarsgaard hit this one out of the park. I felt like cheering after it was over."

Mariah looks to Nathaniel and then the movie box, "No, not yet. I had planned on it but...no one wanted to watch it." she chuckles. "So how about we watch that one?" she asks him. "And I won't tell your fellow teachers about you cheering on the child eating clown." she winks at him.

Nathaniel smiles a little more at the comment and the wink, lowering his voice, "Depending on the teacher you ask, I think some of them might cheer right along with him. At least I have flashy explosions and dangerous chemicals to keep them 'oooh'ing and 'ahh'ing on some days." The other DVDs are set down, leaving just the terrible clown in his hands, "I won't spoil anything then and will wait to ask questions after its over. Supposedly the second part comes out later this year, so this is good timing, I mean, if you're interested in seeing THAT one in the theater after this."

Mariah laughs at that as she goes about popping the popcorn. She has no idea what she's about to be in for. She just looks happy to be having company. "I think your fellow teachers would, yes." she tells him. Then once the popcorn is done she kills the lights in the kitchen and wanders into the living room. "Alright, lights off?" she asks him. "And sure, we could go see Chapter Two in theaters." she grins.

The question of lights off has him pausing, but just a moment, then nods, "Yeah. You kinda have to watch a good horror movie on a rainy day with the lights off. Its like...scripture or something." He might regret that later if she has good fingernails and latches on to an arm or a leg, but The Sacrifice will be worth it. Turning to step into the living room, he hands over the DVD to trade for the popcorn and beers, and steps over to find a good spot on the couch, "Lights would just spoil the creepy."

Oh boy, was he brave! Mariah takes the DVD from him and then goes to put it into the player. She wasn't sure if he was asking to be smothered during the movie, but she could oblige. "Alright, I'll get the lights." she murmurs. Once that's done she settles down and then scoots in close with the bowl of popcorn. "If I dump this popcorn I apologize." she warns him.

Nathaniel chuckles softly at the warning and shakes his head, "Wont be anything to apologize for. Just means you aren't bored, right?" When she scoots in close, he shifts his weight a little, hesitating where to place his arm before lightly draping it around her shoulders. The first scene is probably a good test as to whether or not that popcorn is going to survive the entire show, after all.

If Mariah was nervous about things, it doesn't show. She does however jump when the poor kids arm gets bitten off, "Oh holy shit!" she shrieks as she shudders. Yeah, nightmares were going to happen. Damn Clowns. "This is not as funny as the old made for tv mini series." she whispers to him.

Nathaniel scrunches his nose and does his best to hide some amusement at her reaction. A small chuckle escapes him when she whispers, "Um, yeah. I should warn you. It gets a little more intense as we go on." Little. Who knew chemistry teachers were prone to understating things? "I won't shame you for hiding your eyes though." Is he teasing? He sounds like he's teasing.

Mariah just looks at him and there's a quiet thought, maybe she should turn back. Nah. "In for a penny in for a pound." she tells him with a chuckle. "I'm going to regret that later, but I'll live." she grins to him. "I will hide my eyes if I need to though." she winks at him.

Nathaniel grins at the decision, looking vaguely pleased with the choice, "No regrets. You may never want to go near a clown again, but no regrets." With that said, however, he quiets back down and throws some popcorn in his mouth, giving her shoulders a light squeeze while the kids are all introduced.

Mariah gives a chuckle, "Most clowns are weird. I mean, look at Pogo." she points out. Oh dear, serial killer references. Then she nibbles on a handful of popcorn, "We'll see if we're both sacking out in the living room floor because I don't want you to walk home in the rain and be accosted by a clown." she muses.

Nathaniel mms softly, his voice quieter, "Fair point." She talks about sacking out here and that smile tugs at the corners of his mouth again, "You DO have a very comfortable couch...but if I walk home, I'll avoid the storm drains." He might know WHEN the surprising moments might be coming, but that doesn't mean he doesnt tense up a little over the slaughterhouse scene or Henry terrorizing the Losers.

Mariah jumps, squeaks and all the things that go along with someone enjoying a scary movie. The popcorn is safe throughout. She does duck her head when Pennywise gets the girl in the bathroom, but that's because she was scared it might be hurting her.

Nate at least IS very good about keeping to his word and not flinching before any particular scare, though he does subtly brace is hold on that popcorn bowl after things like Pennywise leaping out of the projection. Or the scary painting face in the dark, or even the attack in the house where the one Loser breaks his arm. By the time the movie's over, that popcorn's not in danger of getting overturned, because it's been inhaled. The fact that the storm outside just gets louder and heavier doesn't help.
