Time was needed for Julia to get her bearings, recover her from the remnants of her injuries. and sleep. So the next day, Julia, conscious of the fact that she owes May her life, stands in front of the woman's door and rings the bell, cradling a bottle of Cuban sangria in the crook of her arm.
May had just been doing computer work, nothing super important when the door bell rang. She slipped on her fuzzy black slippers and made her way to the door. Given she wasn't entirely expecting company, her gothic make up was not on but it seems she really didn't need much of it, she was naturally pale. On her form was a pair of black satin pajamas consisting of a spaghetti strapped shirt with matching pants. A smile curls her unpainted lips as she says, "Hey Julia, I forgot you were coming by, come on in. I... am still in my jammies. I could... change if you like?" Her tone suggesting she is unsure if her needing to change is needed. Once Julia is within the house, she closes the door and locks it, one can never be too careful in this town after all. She makes her way towards the kitchen as she asks, "Were you planning to drink that with me?" Her hand gesturing to the Cuban sangria with a smile before she gets out a set of deep goblets for said deliciousness to be poured into.
"I'm used to my abuelita running around in a house dress, you're fine." Julia says affably as she steps inside. "I brought you a gift. I mean, it's a small thing, but it's my family's recipe for sangria. It's to thank you for saving my life, but I owe you a lot more."
May laughs a bit, smiling fondly at that as she seems rather content with staying in her house clothes. She looks over to Julia as she explains, "I am sure if the tables had been turned, you would have done the same for me. It... is just a miracle I was unscatched. My armor protected me and a few others for as long as possible but I was lucky none of the archers came after me after that. I was able to focus on mending others. It... was absolutely insane." SHe looks to Julia as she blatantly asks, "Have... you ever dealt with the dark men before or those sort of... instances?"
There's a pregnant pause, and Julia lets out a breath. "Not in such obvious, open warfare." She nods a little bit. "But I've more or less been dealing with them since I was a little kid." There's probably more to say, but for now, Julia is keeping her cards close to her chest. "How about you?"
May nods softly before she responds, "Since my father died... they really... came around. It is when I went reclusive and just... tried to hide from it all. But... I realized there is no escaping it... not unless I move away and even then... there isn't a guarantee I will be left alone and... I can't leave... I would feel so guilted." She begisn to pour the sangria into the glasses, soon offering one to Julia with a soft smile as she explains, "I... usually don't really talk about it... or even use my... gifts, we will call it that I guess..."
"I get that, a little." says Julia with sympathy. "I had a good life, you know? Away from Gray Harbor. I was up and coming. And then I got this call a few months ago, my mom had a stroke." she shrugs. "So I came back." She looks around. "They might not leave you alone, but they wouldn't be so frequent. This place is like a stew pot full of them."
May sighs softly as she hugs herself while saying, "I still have my friends here and... I don't really handle too much new in one go. And.. I still have to try and..." She stops, her eyes looking a bit sad before she murmurs, "I owe a lot fo the precinct here. My dad was on the force, died in action. I... I can't let that happen to anyone else, especially since some of my childhood friends are on the squad now... I... I can't let a repeat of what happened to my father happen to them... and I will do wahtever I have to, to make sure it doesn't.." What all that could mean, is anyone's guess giving her father died when she was 15 with a few other officers in a shooting with some possible gang members. The case was ruled as gang violence.
"Well, you do what you gotta do." Julia's tone is kindly. "Anyway. You don't pay at Fried Fish from now on, May. You can come get food for yourself any time you want, it's on me. Along with booze, it's the least I could do."
May smiles as she says, "It really isn't needed but I do appreciate it a lot Julia. How... are you feeling by the way. I could take a look over any remaining injuries and... try to help you recover a little faster, if you want of course."
Julia nudges the bottle closer to May. "I am one hundred percent okay. Thank you." she smiles, though it fades after a thought occurs to her. "My friend Nicholas, though...I'm not sure if he's okay. If I find out that he's not, could I ask you to help him?"
May smiles fondly as she responds, "I know Nicholas very well, we grew up together, he calls me Wednesday even still now." She bites her bottom lip before she responds, "I can look at him closer if he didn't already do it himself. But I will help him. I didn't know you knew him. I wonder who else of my friends you know."
"Only a little. We were playpals when we were both little kids. But likely we'll eventually wind up bumping into folks the other knows. It's a small town."
May nods softly as she responds, "Yeah, more than likely. Especially since I've never left. I just... rarely leave my house is all. A bit of... a homebody. I am sure you can understand why."
"Well, you should work on that. Don't let the bastards get you down, you know?" Julia smiles. "How about you come out with me sometime soon? We could go to the Pourhouse, or maybe even the Firefly Club."
May nods softly before she responds, "Alright, I just hate going alone mostly. I haven't been to the club in a while so... maybe there on a girls night out or something?"
"Sure! Invite whoever you like." There's a buzz from her pocket. "But for now, I should jet. I need to close at the shack. You enjoy the sangria, okay?" Julia heads to the door, pausing before reaching for the handle. "And again, May. Gracias. Really."
May moves to follow Julia out as she says, "Wait a sec." A gentle hug is given to Julia as she says, "Thank you as well. I'll see you at the Fried Fish soon, I promise." Easily letting Julia out and watching as she leave, she wants to make sure she at least gets to the beach safely before ducking back in her house.
