Text

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : If I were to suggest dinner and a movie sometime next week, do you think you'd have an evening free?

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Of course, I would. I'm not always working! No matter how it looks like some times. A dinner and movie sounds great.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I know that mind of yours, it never turns off. Not all the way at least. It's one of the many things I love about you.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : What are the other reasons? If I'm just being curious.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : JUST being curious? Hmm. Your good looks, if I'm going to be shallow about it.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Your gregarious nature. Your ambition. Your vision. Willingness to look past the obvious on both a situation and a person.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Go on... I was born and grew up here. You needed to be be able to look past the obvious more often than not.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Do we want me to list your many physical attributes worth being enamored of?

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I won't stop you if you do.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : You've very nice hands.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : My mother used to say that you could tell something about someone by their hands.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I tend to like my hands too. One day I'll grow up to become a concert pianist.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Your mother always was a wise woman.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Vocal about her wisdom, too. She says hi, by the way, and asks if you're coming for Christmas. I reminded her that Christmas was six months away.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : It's a possibility. If you're able to swing it as well. Though if I must visit your parents alone, so be it. Then it would be my turn to tell them you said 'Hi'.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : That's six months away. I'm sure I can make sure that day is clear of appointments.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I'm sure that you could! We can go and visit your folks if you like. I'm pretty sure I can make time.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Only if you really want to.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : You know I like them well enough. I'm sure that I can come up with something for them to invest in before then too.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Ask Daddy. He's an easier mark.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I remember. I also remember how much of a sharp cookie your mom is. I always need to work harder on that one.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : You know she adores you, though. Even if she's looking at the fine print of whatever investment you bring up to her.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Like I said. Smart. Cookie. And my investments are always legit, but I could use an extra pair of eyes to look over paperwork and make sure that I've got written will more or less work out the way that I want.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : You could always have her look over stuff. She's good at what she does, far better at making sure things are air tight than Daddy or I are.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : You're right. I'll do just that when I have something important that needs reviewing. It's a wonder that I haven't hired your mom as my lawyer yet.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : So about that dinner date. When are you thinking?

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : She'd give you the family discount.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Dinner...This weekend seems the obvious choice, but I also know that might be too soon to get out of working. Early next week? Monday or Tuesday?

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : The weekend should be fine. Far better than the weekdays anyway. I'll give myself time off. You do know that I'm my own boss right?

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I do. But I'd feel bad tearing you away from work if you've got something important to do.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I need to break away from work at some point, right? This weekend will be fine.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : You do. I think we all do.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : My schedule is cleared. Do you have a place in mind? I heard that the restaurant at the old Firehouse was now open for business if you wanted to try them out.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I didn't have anywhere in mind, so the old Firehouse restaurant sounds like a great idea. What's the dress code there...jeans?

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I don't know, to be honest. But this is Gray Harbor so I don't expect an actual dress code.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : That's probably a good point. I'll get used to small town living one day.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Nothing wrong with dressing like a city girl here. Your presence helps give the town that much needed elegance if you ask me.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I'm fairly certain that you're biased in this.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Is there anything wrong with that if I were? Whatever you decide to wear, you'll look great.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Nothing at all wrong with it.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I'll still probably stick to jeans so I don't look silly turning up in a cocktail dress.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Mmmm. A cocktail dress. Need to put together an event where you have to wear one.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Already something in the works. Or I'll just invite all your friends for a dinner party and wear one.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Already in the works eh? You know what, it's been a while since I had my friends over. We're usually at Tobin's. A dinner party at home would be ideal.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : You're the psychiatrist...

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Would something like this upset anyone? I mean, these are the people I knew as kids. We're not from money.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I don't think it'd upset anyone unless you were going out of your way to rub their noses in the fact you have money and they don't. But inviting them to your home for dinner isn't really rubbing their noses in it.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : You're right. And this place has one of the best views in town... weather permitting. We'll try to make time for it. A dinner party is a big event. Not as big as a town wide weekend festival, but you get my drift.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : They don't have to be big events. You could just invite a handful of people, your closest friends.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Is my inability to think small showing? But you're right. My closest friends. I think I can manage.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : There is a time and place for thinking big, and small. I'd say no more than ten. Like Tobin can bring that Rafe fellow.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : We'll see if that happens. I'm hoping. Tobe's has got me curious anyway. Then there's Lilith. She's back in town. Those were my two closest. Then there's Geoff, I guess. And a few others.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : That's only four. Six, at most, if everyone brings a +1.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : Are you bringing a +1?

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : You are my +1. Unless you are bringing a +1.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I'm thinking about it. I know this beautiful, smart blonde from L.A. that I could invite over.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : She sounds fabulous. I'm already jealous of her. Which I guess that means it's a good thing I know this very tall, dark and handsome local man, looks like he might clean up very nice, too.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : And he sounds like a jerk. Though I'm sure he's well-intentioned. Never trust the tall, dark and handsome ones.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I'll be thinking of this dinner party as I take this call. From Seattle.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : You in your office?

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : I will be in a minute.

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : Leave the door unlocked.

(TXT to Vivian) Byron : <a few minutes pass> Unlocked!

(TXT to Byron) Vivian : I'll see you soon, then.
