2019-07-06 - It Was Right There

Sweet sleep. Cole might have had a long day at the studio or working around doing odd jobs. But he feels the sort of dread creeping in as he eyelids grow heavy this evening.

When sleep finally takes him, he’d find himself standing on the edge of the threshold in the Murray House. He’s watching the events of Amelia’s rescue happen. It’s odd to see it from this angle, but what he can tell is that there is something else there and something else was watching them. Taking notes on them almost.

Cole looks away for just a moment as something catches his eye behind him. When he turns back to watch, that skeletal figure that shrieked at Izthak is there in front of him. When he tries to move, he can’t. His legs don’t work.

When he jerks himself awake, he’ll notice it feels like his legs are tingling, like someone might have been sitting on him. But there’s no one in his room.

Cole shudders all over and pulls back the covers to check his legs. They're fine. They work. He can move. He peers around the room, heart racing as though half-afraid that if he looks into the far corner, that thing will still be there.

But it's not.

Which doesn't mean that it won't be lingering with him for some time.
