2019-08-04 - I'm With You Till The End of the Line

It was early in the morning when Irvriya started the drive up to the cemetery. She was in need of some isolation and a few days where she just didn’t deal with things. But she needed to visit someone before she left. Abel’s grave wasn’t that hard to miss, it still had the American flags from the Fourth of July up. The workers were always a bit late about removing them. It wasn’t like the family minded.

“Hello Abel.” she states quietly as she settles herself into the grass at the edge of his grave. She runs a hand over the grass and there’s a sad smile, “I’ve been meaning to get up here to clean the weeds and things. Your mother is getting bad knees so I promised her I’d do it.” she states to the grave as she starts pulling the little weeds that were coming up.

“I’ve been getting out and meeting people. Some have been really nice. I think you’d like a few of them.” she smiles to that. “Met someone that I was going to ask out, but I bungled that. You know how I can get.” she snorts. “He’s the opposite of you. Not that I wanted to find something that was completely opposite. He just...I don’t know. It’s not going to happen.” she shrugs as she goes about her task.

“Think I’m better off on my own. Not attached to anyone. If I get hurt or something happens I only have to deal with the family. That’s enough of a burden.” she admits quietly as she works.

"We should have eloped like you wanted to. I just wanted to make my mom and dad happy. Think it would have been fun to come home from Vegas married." she muses. Then she pulls out her book and scribbles down a little set of symbols on the paper. She pulls the strip of paper out and places it under the rock that sits on Abel's grave. "Tony is going to be in town to visit in a few weeks. He said he's got some stuff from your old place for me. So I'll make sure to bring him by." she smiles to that.

Then she's starting to stand up and brush her dress off, "I'll make sure to get back here in a few weeks. Hopefully things won't go too far down hill." she tells him as she pats the headstone. Then she's wandering off down the gravel path to the new to her car. "Time to take a vacation." she murmurs as she puts the car in drive.
