2019-08-18 - Suppressed Memory

Julia spent most of her time at the asylum in a "safe" area, where the patients were generally like her: people who Glimmered and either weren't able to cope with it or were sent there by well-intending loved ones who didn't know what else to do. Most of the patients there were receiving honest-to-goodness GOOD care, helping them figure out how to cope with their abilities - encouraging them to use them, though it's unclear whether or not this was the doctors' ignorance about how using abilities attracts Dark Men or intentionally done.

Doctor Marshall was her primary doctor there. He seemed to genuinely care, but - over time - it became clear that he also had higher-ups. After a few weeks or months between "bad" sessions, he would inevitably come collect Julia or her friends, bring them into what they all thought of as the dark region of the hospital, where she would be subjected to EST. In between these visits, all patients were kept heavily drugged.

Julia has a few vague memories of the dark region. She knows there were other patients there, long-term patients, HARD cases. The long hallway down which she would walk had doors on either side, with tiny slits for sliding trays of food in and out. She could sometimes hear screams on the other side of those doors.
