2019-09-05 - Breaking Up Is Not Hard To Do

School had started back up for Nathaniel and he'd been swamped with it. They were spending less time together and lets be honest, time apart wasn't one of those good things in Gray Harbor. Shit just liked to happen. So it's no surprise that when Mariah is having a bad day her boyfriend doesn't have time for coddling her. It stung. A lot.

The conversation that followed when he did have time was pretty much what she was expecting. The same old song and dance when a really great guy just doesn't have the time and things are happening with his career. It was easier to leave her behind than to take her with them. It was six months of her life, so it wasn't like they were planning marriage. She was just happy she'd found someone that was willing to put her weirdness aside and see her.

She had managed not to cry while on the phone, but her tears wear starting to get the best of her when she hung up. He said he'd see her around. She wasn't even sure what that meant, but hey, whatever. She was used to getting the short end of the stick.

She'd continue on and see what Gray Harbor had in store for her next.
