Dream

Minerva was dealing with a few days in the hospital and with the flu that was going around they’d been watching her. She’d been weak and her brother had insisted that she stay.

She hadn’t been sleeping due to nightmares, but around four in the morning on Monday September 30th she’d slipped into a fitful sleep.

And right into a mess that she was not wanting to deal with.

She woke to the sound of the machines humming an off kilter tune as her heartbeat was coming up on the screen as little hearts like a video game. It was a bit off putting to say the least.

There was a trio of nurses that came in. All dressed in the old candy striper outfits. The blonde hair perfectly curled and there smiles and faces were flawless. They were almost too much to look at.

“We have new medicine for you!” they chirped in unison at the same time. It made her a bit weary to hear. She didn’t want more medicine. She wanted to go home. But the nurses were so bubbly and insistent about the medicine.

One of them stepped forward, a syringe in her hands as she was starting to talk, “Now, you’ll have to be really still because this is going to go in your eye!” they told her with happy smiles.

Anyone going near Minerva’s only eye was going to get a fight, especially when the fluid in the syringe looked shady!

“No!” she hisses out.

That’s when the nurses set upon her, holding her shoulders with inhuman strength. Minerva summons what little strength she has left to try to tase the nurses, but it doesn’t work.

Nothing works.

And that terrifies the woman. “GET AWAY FROM ME!” she screams. Her arms and hands flailing, trying to get away from the nurses and the needle.

The dream world turns back to the real world before she can realize it and there’s blood running down her face from where she’s tried to get imaginary needles and nurses away from her eye.

“Miss Kosimar!” someone shouts as Minerva is trying to get them away from her. And the nurses didn’t understand what was going on besides that she might be having a bad hallucination from something.

Finally, Minerva slumps back against the pillows, sweating and bleeding. “Please...leave my eyes alone.” she whispers weakley just as she tries to close her eyes.

Another nurse comes in, to help with calming Minerva. And add restraints until they think she’s out of her fits.

It was going to be a long day.
