It's just about primetime at the Cabaret. As the hour strikes midnight on a Friday evening, the club is abuzz with customers drunk on lust, and entertainers looking to get paid. There's a crowd around the stage and several other patrons lining various tables, while the bar is more sparsely populated. Antonio is seated on one of the barstools, sipping from a dirty Grey Goose martini and casting his eyes about the club floor.
Kai is at the bar already, sans fangs. She's about three drinks in and doesn't even look flushed. She reaches up to rake her her fingers through her hair, squinting around under the club lighting as if finally getting a good number of drinks under her belt for socialization...or play.
Park is in charge of the music. Making sure the dancers, and crowd, have their needs catered for. She dances away with the tunes, a big smile on her face as she does so, happy to say 'hello' to anyone and everyone. Tight t-shirt and tighter booty-shorts are her work uniform. With a playlist sorted, she heads towards the bar to get a bottle of water.
Ico has spent most of the day at the entrance. A yawn as he moves into the club proper. Moving to grab some water at the bar. A wave to anyone nearby. "Hey boss." Offered toward Antonio. A thumbs up to Park as well as she moves towards them. Head turning to Kai then, "Having a good day so far?" Asked with a small smile.
Kass comes into the club, hastily tucking her wallet back into her hip pocket after being carded once again. She doesn't complain, its still better than not going anywhere! Tucking a stray lock behind one ear absently, those dark eyes rove the room, looking. Perhaps for a familiar face (hi Park!), or perhaps for something else. She starts with park. Dressed in a plain dark grey tanktop and dark wash shorts, her nicest piece of clothing is undeniably the cheetah print faux fur Chuck Taylors on her feet. The sneakers are damn near pristine. Everything else? Not so much. Still, she heads towards Park, at least to get her bearings before seeking out anyone else.
"Good to see you. Hope you're enjoying yourself." The bossman directs the words initially to Ico, and then spots Kai with a smirk. He inclines his head and offers a grin to the college student, swirling his martini in its glass and taking a sip. "We had a hell of a good event the other night. But tonight will be fun too." He winks once, alternating his gaze between Kai and Ico. Spotting Park in the DJ booth, Antonio raises his glass in a mock salute, and then eyes the newcomer, Kass. "First drink is on the house for our lovely lady customers, y'know." His grin widens and looks toward the stage, where a handful of men are making it rain.
Kai spots the DJ and smirks slightly, briefly remembering the girl from the Saints and Sinners event. "Hmm?" She perks up a little at Ico's question. She lifts her drink to him and says, "Well I'm three deep, so I'm getting to that good day." She winks. She's wearing a casual enough blazer with three quarters sleeves, nothing all that special, but she looks like she ended up here instead of starting her evening here. "Excuse me," Kai moves off toward the DJ booth and lifts a hand to try and get Park's attention in a lowkey way, not wanting to interrupt her immediate work. Though she offers, "I met you at the event right?"
Park was heading in the direction of the bar when Kai appears. "Hey! Elvira!" she grins as she nods. "We sure did meet. I was the devil...with the wings and tail." Just in case Kai needed clarification. Next is, of course, a hug. "Glad you came back. Having a good time?" She manages a wave for Antonio and Ico before spotting Kass. "One sec" Park smiles to Kai before waving at the redhead. "Kass!" It takes a lot to yell over the music. "That's Antonio!" She points frantically at the owner on the bar stool before looking back to Kai. "Sorry about that. She's looking for work. Waitress."
Ico grins and nods to Antonio, "Of course. Always a good day here." He suggests before looking to Kai to smile and nod about that as well. Grinning at Kai, "Well then, soon it will go from good to great." He offers with a wink in true. Letting her greet Park though, waiting for the DJ to come closer. If Kass looks towards him he will offer a smile and wave in greeting. But allowing her to go to the DJ as well.
Kass perks up when Park calls out to her, looking up and offering a smile towards her, lifting a hand both in greeting and to show that she understands. Turning, she scans in the direction that was pointed at before landing on the man that offered a free drink earlier. In the process of picking Antonio out of the lineup, she sees Ico and returns the smile if not the wave. Possibly since she's headed in that direction anyways. As Kass draws nearer, she plasters on a smile, grips the strap of her messenger bag in both hands, and approaches. "Mr. Williams? I was told you might be hiring. Waitresses. I was hoping to apply." Ico gets a semi-nervous glance now that she's being faced with asking for a job.
The strip club boss cocks his head to Park with a smirk, before focusing his gaze on Kass. "Ah, yeah. Antonio Williams, owner and proprietor, at your service. Nice to meet you." The businessman clad in a navy blazer and dark slacks gestures toward the back of the bar, and shoots a wink to Kass. "Can I get you a drink? We have a couple waitresses here, and always hiring more. You got experience?" He poses the question directly, arching his eyebrows as he gives her a somewhat elongated once-over.
"Nice to meet you too, Mr. Williams." its offered automatically, a rote recitation with 'insert name here' filled in the blank. Kass looks towards the bar, at the bottles of liquor, her hands tightening on the strap of her bagg as she shakes her head, "Thank you, no. I don't drink. I, uh... have this thing? Medical condition. Nothing bad or contagious, but drinking alcohol is a big no-no." She looks vaguely uncomfortable at the long once-over, her eyes darting towards him then skittering away before darting back again. "No, sir. Not exactly. I helped serve lunch at the hospital.. and I set the table for dinner at home.. but no formal experience."
Kai squints slightly at the nickname, but it doesn't dampen her grin. She keeps her drink away from the equipment. "Huh?" She can't exactly hear everything Park says over the music, but then she seems to catch on, "Oh. Yeah?" She leans back against the wall while Park deals with Kass and Antonio. "Does she realize what she's signing up for?" That's the alcohol letting the words out before the thoughts happen. Kai just shrugs and lets her dumb question stand.
"Hospital, huh? Well, this ain't much of a hospital. We're the finest adult entertainment venue in town, missy. The only one, to be honest." Antonio runs his index finger along the rim of his martini glass before he drinks again, chuckling under his breath as he shoots a look to Kai and then looks back to Kass. "The waitress job here involves serving drinks and looking the part. Think you're interested in that?" He arches his eyebrows and prompts her, that smirk of his remaining plastered across his lips.
Park smiles as she sees Kass talking with Antonio; that will all be fine. "Cameron and I talked to her last night" she explains to Kai. "She knows what she is in for, and she totally needs the job. She's had such a hard life, the poor thing. Such a lovely soul though." A little sadness over Kass's life before the smile is back for Kai. "Did you have a request?"
"Yes, sir. I understand... and I can do it. I just, um... I don't have much in the way of clothes that would, uh... be acceptable. For here." Kass pushes the fiery strands from her eyes with nervous fingers, head bobbing a nod towards Antonio, trying to hide the shame of being porr. She lets out a slow breath, darting a glance back towards Park, then looking back to Antonio. "Mee said you might, um.. help me. With a few outfits. If not, I can find something else. Until I can afford the outfits." She flicks a glance his way before almost immediately darting it away again.
"If you touch my glitter again, I will personally smack your head off my make up station. Try me!" Mae calls out as she walks out of the backstage area. She notices people at the bar, and she gives them a brief look before she pauses at a table to chat with one of the regulars. He places his hand right on her ass as they carry on the conversation, but it doesn't seem to get him in dutch with the dancer. Money is slipped into her tight shorts and she blows the man a kiss, turning to approach the bar. "Spritzer water and some lime, please." She orders, pulling the bill from her waistband to set on the bar.
"Hey all." She greets, taking a seat and crossing her legs. "Everyone getting into sufficient trouble tonight?"
Unaware that she's talking /that/ loud, Kai doesn't seem to realize anyone has overheard her comments. "Oh cool. I mean, good she's finding a gig...hopefully?" She lifts her drink to take a sip and lets the music flood over her and likely damage her hearing. This is nice. "What? No. I just came to say hi. I think I lost you in the crowd before when we met. Kind of easy for me to lose people," a comment on her own height likely. Her attention is stolen a bit when Mae walks out from backstage, but she looks back to Park and offers her a small grin. "You want a drink? You're allowed to drink on the job right?"
"We're trying to sign this one up for trouble." Antonio shoots a wink to Mae and indicates Kass with a raise of his martini glass, taking a drink. Eyes on the newcomer, then, the boss's smile grows. "I can advance you some cash for a week's worth of outfits, sure. We have a club tee-shirt and bootyshorts for the staff, although I don't mind if you wear anything else, so long as it looks the part. You're gonna have to lose those nerves, of course. The customers will expect you to serve cocktails with a smile and a little sass, you know what I mean?" Antonio winks to Kass, finishing off his martini and pushing the empty forward for a refill.
"Hi," Kass offers a brief smile and fiddle of fingers towards Mae before looking back to Antonio and giving a nod. She glances around the room, then looks back to him, pulling in a breath, straightening herself up and lifting her chin. "I can do it. I'm just... nervous about interviews. And tests. Terrible with tests." She pauses, then looks at Antonio straight on for the first time, lifting a brow, "How creative can we get with the outfits? And what's the minimum required?" Jumping right into the deep end with both feet, it would seem!
"You went to watch the dancers" Park giggles to Kai about why they lost each other at the party. "Which is cool. That's why people come here." Speaking of which, there is one of the best dancers in the U.S., never mind the Cabaret. Park offers Mae a wave before nodding to Kai's question. "I'm allowed to drink but not too much. I have, like, one light beer and I'm anyones. Not that anyone wants me." She glances down at her laptop screen. "I have about ten minutes before I need to set the next playlist. Let's drink!"
Mae blows Park a kiss, nodding toward Kass as her spritzer is delivered. She crosses her legs, and speaking of, she's wearing a pair of black booty shorts and one of the Cabaret t-shirts, hers is cut up, the neckline off her shoulder, the hem tied under her ribs. Her hair is big fluffy curls around her face, and her make up looks like she's either heading on stage or has been up there already. "Nice of you to join us here, we have fun." She slips off of her stool and pads over a few steps. "I'm Mae Molinari, pleased to meet you." She offers a hand out to Kass to shake, slight smile on her lips.
The club owner takes up his next martini and puts it to his lips, sipping as he shifts his eyes between Mae and Kass. "Mae is one of our featured entertainers, and one of the best. Minimum? If you mean minimal attire, you could serve drinks here topless and in a thong if you wanted to, and you'd make a lot of tips. But if you want to do -that-, I have better career opportunities for you to consdier." The boss laughs, leaning against the bar and withdrawing an e-cigarette from his sportcoat pocket.
"Here-" Kai almost hands Park the rest of her drink as if to hold it or have it, it's unclear, but she thinks better of it. "Maybe you shouldn't have this. I'll get you a drink. Though if you want something lighter than light beer, that might be a challenge." The small woman shoots a warm wink up to Park. By the looks of what Kai is drinking, she's certainly not a lightweight, even if she should be. Practice makes perfect. "Hey I came over here to get you a drink. Don't count me out," she says as she walks away, scooting back to the bar to confer with the bartender who has a tab open for her.
"Kass. Kassandra Hughes," she takes the offered hand for a quick shake, withdrawing after a few moments but with a smile on her lips. She doesn't look nearly as nervous as she did when she first started talking to Antonio, seeming more confident in herself. Looking back to the club owner, Kass gives a small shake of her head, "I'm no good at dancing and I'm not particularly flexible. But I have a few ideas. And if you don't like them I can always bring a less, uh... risque outfit to wear. But if you're okay with me doing something a little different... I can show you soon what I mean." In this, Kass smiles confidently, sure that whatever she has in mind will be a draw.
Mae moves back to her seat, slipping on it, picking up her spritzer. She watches Park be given a drink, her expression hidden behind the rim of her glass. She's probably grinning though. She glances over at Antonio, fluttering her eyelashes. "Flattery. I do like it a lot." She puts her glass down and crosses her legs. "Oh, you were the vampire, weren't you?" This is aimed at Kai, but then her attention is snagged by the dancer coming out onto the stage. That glitter looks familiar, and now she's scowling as her eyes narrow dangerously.
"Kass, hmm? I think you'll do very well here, with the right attitude. I can advance you three hundred so that you can find yourself a few outfits -- that sound good?" He waggles an eyebrow at the newcomer and then smirks, taking an unceremonious gulp of his martini. "Like I said, the job is to serve drinks and look the part. Pretty self-explanatory, and if anyone gives you any trouble, you just come talk to me or the security staff."
Park has no idea what Kai is drinking but since she looks so sober, it can't be that bad. Still, she will smile and nod at whatever Kai thinks best. The wink gets a blush so she will let Kai surprise her with some form of beverage while checking on how well Kass seems to be doing. Mae is there and since Mae is an angel, Kass is in double good hands.
"I can definitely look the part. And, um, it might help me act the part better too." Kass confirms for Antonio before stuttering to a stop. "Three... hundred? Uh... yeah. Yeah that will be plenty! Thank you!" She grins brightly, looking happy for the first time since she walked in. Looking back towards Park, she offers a wave and smile, apparently signalling that she's doing just fine. Or thinks she is anyways. Looking back to Antonio, she grins and gives a nod. "Thank you, I'll be sure to do that if anyone bothers me. And, um... if anything ever breaks around here... I'm pretty handy, I might be able to get it fixed for you. Just, you know, in case."
"Yeah. Do you know anything that won't tip over a lightweight?" Unfortunately, Kai has been drinking one of those terribly rum laden types of drinks, fruity, and bound to give most normal humans a fun time. But then Mae seems like her attention is elsewhere already, so Kai takes a deep breath and orders a strawberry lemonade spiked with a splash of vodka. "About the opposite of how much alcohol I've been ordering."
"Oh, a cocktail waitress and a mechanic? I might have to pay you more! But for starters, with no experience, I'll give you ten bucks an hour. You'll get plenty of tips, of course. If you stick with the job and do well, I'll give you a raise in about a month." Antonio reaches into his trousers and reveals a black leather wallet, offering three crisp hundred-dollar bills over to the newcomer. "For your outfits, eh? You can start tomorrow if you'd like."
Mae drags her eyes away from the dancer and back to the bar, picking up her spritzer to sip from it. "Yeah, if someone bothers you get Cristobal or one of our bouncers and they'll take care of them. They're pretty protective of the girls." She watches Park and Kai, a small smile playing at her lips, especially at the order of the strawberry lemonade, it sounds yummy.
"Might be fun if some of the crew took her out for a shopping trip." Mae notes, quirking a brow over at Park and Kai. Mostly Park, but why not look at Kai while she's sitting there.
Park offers a thumbs up in return to Kass, especially when a whole pile of money is being handed over to the redhead. She checks on the music for the dancer on stage, having pumped up the bass for the twerk heavy performance. Even throwing in some 'I love ass' samples over the song. She glances over to see how Kai is going before perking at the thought of a shopping trip. "Kass is coming to the Masquerade too."
"General handyman, really. Mechanical, electrical, even just chairs and tables..." Kass lifts a shrug and rubs at the back of her neck with a faint smile. Nodding, she takes the money very carefully, quickly putting it into her wallet and just as quickly tucking her wallet back into her hip pocket. She smiles towards Antonio and nods, "I can start tomorrow. Thank you, really. This is great." Then she's glancing towards Mae and offers a sort of shy smile, "That sounds like it could be fun." Then there' park mentioning the Masquerade. "Oh! Yeah, that. What sort of costumes do people usually wear?"
Kai is actually on her way back when Park looks over. She lifts the drink up partially to get Park's attention and partially because she lightly bumps into a guy on his way to the bar. It's a balancing act. "Not a drop was spilled," she says with smirk as she offers the drink to the woman. "What's up?"
"The head bartender and a few others are working on the masks, if you'd like you can come over to where they're being stored to see if you like any of them." Mae offers, pulling her phone from her back pocket to tap on it and send off a text. "They're mostly goblins and other scary creatures. Going to be hard to be sexy in all that, but .. it'll be fun." She shrugs a bare shoulder and watches the trio. "The masque will be a lot of fun. Especially if we have drinks anything like what we had last night."
"Oh, they're monster masks? Oh, Halloween. Der. I can do that" Park nods to Mae before there is a drink being handed to her. "Oooh...that looks so pretty" she grins to Kai, lifting the glass to inhale the sweetness. "Smells good too." Now the big test; she has a sip. "Mmmm...tastes good too!" The danger of alcopops; you never even know you're drinking alcohol. "This is really nice. Oh, we're talking about shopping. Hey, are you coming to the Masquerade?"
"Monsters? I can work with that... and, if people will let me.. I can help make the costumes -really- pop... I can't do it for myself, but I have a friend that can help me with mine." Kass responds with a grin, seeming excited about masks and costumes. She looks towards Park and calls out, "I can help with costumes! They'll be... uh, risque, but good!"
Kai retrieves her drink back and tilts her head slightly until Park delivers the final verdict, the taste test results. "Glad you like it." She doesn't reveal the contents of the drink, but it's not like the flavors are real mysteries. "Masquerade? When's that? I hadn't heard of it." She lifts her drink to drain the rest of it.
"Halloween." Mae responds, glancing between Kass and Park. "Park, why don't you text Love the next time she's around, see what she has going on. You can introduce Kass to her and magic might happen." She wiggles her fingers in the air, grinning. There is a moment or two of silence while she has another sip of her drink before she speaks up again. "You going to put on another costume and come back to favor us with your company little vampire?" She asks Kai, winking in her direction.
"I do cosplay!" Park grins excitedly at Kass. "So many awesome costume makers in town." A nod to Mae. "I will put Kass in touch with Love and everything will definitely be magical." To Kai she adds, "Not sure when the Masquerade is happening but it's for Halloween and you need at least a mask...obviously. I think some big wig from town wants to do it for charity or something?" She looks to Mae. "Will it be here?" Then back to Kai, eyes narrowing a little. "Do I see you at college? I do dentistry."
"Introduce me to... Love? I.. hmmm... okay. I guess." Kass seems to think there's something odd about meeting the very concept of love but she shrugs and rolls with it. She can't help but smile at Park's enthusiasm. "I'm more an artist than a costume maker, but it helps with, well... you'll see. I have an idea. I have to check in with a friend first though." She pauses, then blinks. "Oh geez. I should really be getting home. Dad's gonna -kill- me if I'm late getting in again. It was really great meeting you all, thanks again Mee!" She lifts a hand and offers a grin, then dashes off.
Kai looks back at Mae and offers a lopsided grin. "Yeah, but this time you better take my money." She cocks her head to the side just a touch and then looks back up to Park. "I probably already have an invitation somewhere then," Kai shrugs. "Oh...Yeah, probably. I'm undeclared though." Undeclared, at a community college and a, "Sophomore....Does that mean you're going to judge me for my teeth?" She presses her lips shut and smiles.
"Took your money last time, cheeky little hussy." Mae murmurs, smirking over in Kai's direction. She watches the two interact, turning her attention back to the stage for a bit to watch the dancer shimmy and shake as she tries to tease money out of some of the men still sitting around the rails.
Park gives a joyful wave goodbye for Kass, so happy that it has all gone so well for her. Strip clubs are such considerate places to work! A giggle at Kai's question. "Don't be silly, I don't judge anyone. Unless I'm asked to be a judge in something but that's different. I won't judge your teeth. I might nag you on the best way to take care of them..." Another giggle to prove she's not serious about that. "Are you dancing again tonight, Mae?" Regardless, she has music to set up. "Wanna hang with me while I work, Elvira?" Did she ever get Kai's name?
Ico is hovering around the area somewhere. Drifting back near where the others are standing, offering a wave. "Hey, did I miss anything?" Is asked, with a smile and waved to Mae as well.
"Well then you'll just take more of it," Kai calls back to Mae without really looking, lifting her free hand to pretend to bat away the air in her direction once or twice. She smiles wide, giving Park a sharky grin. "Well you won't need to. I assure you." She leans a little to clink her empty glass against Park's. Then she catches a waitress who is passing by. She puts in an order over the loud music, but it doesn't carry. She looks back to Park and and nods. "Yeah. Name's Kai. Not sure if I gave it to you before," she admits, her own mind a little fuzzy about that evening by now.
Mae slips off of her stool, placing her empty glass on the bar. "Thanks babe." She says to the bartender, getting her change back from the woman to tuck into her shirt. She walks past Park and Kai as they talk and drink, blowing a kiss toward both of them. "You two behave yourselves, hmm?" She winks at Ico, pulling her phone from her back pocket to check out a text. "Not dancing against tonight Park, not unless I can get paid for a lap dance. I'm gonna go in the back and check on a few things before I head out for food and then home."
Mae is getting more than a blown kiss from Park - there is a hug. "Take care of yourself you incredibly awesome person, you" she grins, "And I will see you soon. Maybe the movie night?" Then she returns her attentions to Kai. "That's a pretty name." Park is already more thn half way through her drink and doesn't seem effected by the alcohol...though probably only because it tastes so nice. She hasn't really tried to walk yet. "You have lovely teeth" she confirms.
Kai mock grabs the kiss from the air and tucks it into her back pocket. She then wiggles her fingers at the departing Mae. "Ha. She says we should behave. In a strip club. With alcohol." Speaking of alcohol, her drink shows up in a rather timely fashion, well timely enough. "It's a part of my Chinese name." She does make a mental note without meaning to that Park seems to be a fast drinker. It's just something she notices. "Well thank you....You know, I know this is horrible? But," yeah, driiink, "I've forgotten your name. Night was a bit fuzzy and all."
"Mee" Park replies with a smile. Now, is she asking who Kai is referring to, or is that her name? Better elabroate. "Mee Park. or Park Mee if you prefer. Or, if you really want to get with it, DJ Dental. That's my professional name. It's, like, a play on 'Mental', since that's a DJ term. How they used to chant 'Mental! Mental! Mental!'. One day they will chant 'Dental! Dental! Dental!'." A girl can dream. "I'm Korean-American. Were you born here? Not in the Cabaret, but in Gray Harbor."
Ico grins at Mae at the wink. Giving a small bow of his head to her. "Food is always nice." He offers agreeingly. Hands in his pocket as he just listens in for now. Not wanting to distract them from their conversation.
