Kelsey had been growing increasingly frustrated. So much so that the phone finally made contact with the wall and the screen was spider cracked all to hell as she let out a scream. Wishbone had been in the living room but rushed into the bedroom at the noises. Swinging his head around as if to see what the cause of the danger was.

Finally he trotted over to where Kelsey had sank to the floor, leaning against the bed and desperately struggling not to let tears fall. The pup half climbed up into her lap, pressing against her in an attempt at comfort.

Kelsey curled her good arm around him, burying her face in his furry, flabby neck and letting the tears go. Her shoulders shaking and a whole mix of emotions churning through her. He was gone. Without a fucking word. Or even a sign that he wasn't planning on sticking around.

After everything. All the whispered promises and assurances.

After she let her guard down and let him in. Despite the fears of him leaving. And look. He left. Like he said he wouldn't do.

Kelsey held Wishbone a little closer. She could already feel herself spiraling. She needed to breath. She needed to get away for a little bit. She needed...Kelsey exhaled shakily and lifted her head. She needed to text Garrett and see if he could dog sit for awhile.
