You know those movies like Saw? The ones where five-seven people get put in a locked building and by the end only one of them is alive? What happens to that survivor? What happens when the curtain drops and your nightmare is over?
Kelsey Wade will tell you.
You spend a few months in and out of hospitals and psych wards. Talking with the FBI to try and find the crazy guy (or girl) who did this. But they won’t, because the fucker is gone. Like a ghost. You act like you’re okay, everything is over. You’re fine. You’re popping sleeping pills and anti-anxiety meds like they're tic tacs because there’s no other way you’d be able to sleep, much less hold down a job.
You’re talking to a therapist four times a week for months but it doesn’t do a goddamn thing except remind you of all the terrible details of that gruesome night. They recommend a change of scene might be for the best. A new start. A new life. Witness protection just in case.
So you’re moved halfway across the country to a small town. It’s peaceful, different, a nice change of pace. You actually start to like it. Until you don’t. Because this town isn’t so pretty after all. It’s got secrets and shadows and it shows you things you’re capable of that shouldn’t even be possible. Like opening portals to other worlds and throwing things with your mind. So you think maybe you should leave. But you know you can’t.
Despite telling yourself you wouldn’t put down roots, you did. There are people here that rely on you. That you rely on. And you can’t just leave them. So you stay. You stay and you tell those shadows to go fuck themselves. Because if they want to get to your people, they’re gonna have to go through you first.
*Her right forearm is littered with scars from where the skin of her right arm had to be stitched and grafted back together. The cover story is that she got her arm stuck in a woodchipper. Whether that's the truth or not is up in the air. She is also missing her middle and pointer fingers on her right hand.
Best friend. Doggy Co-Parent. Put up with my shit. I don't know why he keeps me around but he's stuck with me now.
Woman's best friend. He's going to be almost as tall as me someday soon. And he'll still think he's a damn lap dog.

Where Have You Been?: Kelsey isn't close with many people in town but those that knew her know she mysteriously vanished back in February. Now she's back! And very confused because to her? She'd only been away for an hour!
Twitchy: Though Kelsey tries VERY HARD to be normal - every now and then her paranoia manifests itself. But lack of sleep and medication can do that to a person!
Punching Things is Fun: Kelsey is often found at the various gyms in town, taking all her pent up anger and fears out on the punching bags.
Veil Enthusiast: well enthusiasm is the wrong word. But Kelsey is determined to learn all she can about the Veil and it's inhabitants. Like she has an agenda...or a vendetta.
You Look Vaguely Familiar : Several years ago, Kelsey was the sole survivor of a very 'Saw-like' situation. It made national news and the culprit was never found. Since then, she has kept an extremely low profile but any unsolved murder/crime enthusiasts might be able to ID her.
Kelsey stands at 5'8. with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She looks like she doesn't get much sleep but she'll plaster on that fake smile if anyone asks how she's doing. Comfort clothes are her goto - jeans, t-shirts, sweats, tank tops, etc.
