Two things had gone right for Kelsey since her weird return from the Veil. She had managed to locate her dog, Wishbone, once more and she’d managed to get a temporary room at the house of someone else who shined while she sorted her shit out. That had been several months ago. Kelsey started paying rent last month and was trying to see if she could start renting her old home again. Elm Number 7.
It was currently occupied.
All of her stuff had been trashed, sold, or donated from what Kelsey could tell. The only saving grace she had was that the majority of her article writing had been done on cloud-based platforms and several of her important files had also been saved to the cloud. She had been extremely upset that all her collections were gone. Now she was just numb to it, all the pain buried deep down with all the rest of her baggage.
Kelsey sighed and laid back on her bed, taking a hit off the joint she’d rolled with the purchase from Chill earlier in the evening. Smoke is exhaled towards the ceiling as Wishbone flops over her lower legs. It was a huge comfort that he was still here. That he remembered her and that he didn’t seem to harbor negative feelings towards her because of her vanishing. She reached injured hand down to give his side an idle little scratch. At least she could always count on him.
“What do you think, Wishbone? Is it time to shake the dust off and try to people again?”
The idea of trying to make connections of any kind again sort of terrified the blonde. She didn’t have the best track record. People either left when they said they wouldn’t or she apparently vanished off the face of the earth so it didn’t matter anyway. Then there was the whole idea of possibly having to deal with Dreams again and the Veil. Things she wasn’t ready to go back and face. What if she came back to another year passing? Or five? Ten??
This train of thought was kicking up Kelsey’s anxiety again and she took another hit to try and calm her nerves.
Wishbone made a soft wuff sound and Kesley nodded. “Yeah, I know buddy. I guess it can't hurt any worse to try again."
