Dearest Grandmother, Friday, October 18, 2019

I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. While I understand why you are angry with me, I do not understand why you would limit or withdraw your affections. That was what has mattered most to me over the years. You and Uncle Thomas were the parents I never had during my more formative and I've done everything I could to please you. I realize you disapprove of my friends and I understand that as well, though if you truly considered the available options Gray Harbor had to offer recently you would see that my friends are good and true friends who were willing to sacrifice anything and everything they could to send William Gohl to rest.

While I realize you are terribly disappointed me in my decision regarding my choices, I want to ask you, what did you expect me to do? I love my uncle very much and Uncle Thomas has been your companion all these many years and I know how close you are to your brother. Had we sent him away to the home, I always thought you would miss him too much and be so lonely in the house alone. I wanted you to have your brother. It was I who severed the ties between Uncle Thomas and Gohl. I have become somewhat powerful myself over time and I would do anything I could to keep you hale, healthy and happy, if I were capable. You are the closest family I have left and I love you, Grandmother.

If you could one day find it in your heart to forgive me the mistakes I made and for your return affections, that is all I would ask of you. That is truly all I need from you.

With Best Wishes and All My Love,

Erin Addington

The reply comes on the 20th -

Erin,

There are two sides to every battle. You have chosen yours.

Abide by it.
