It appeared to be Erin's turn and though she was reluctant, she had prepared for this day in advance. The item she was leaving was undoubtedly the most important possession she owned. It was certainly the most sentimental and she'd been wearing it ever since the accident that took her parents lives. The accident cause by the man whose funeral she was here to attend.
Oh there's heat in her eyes, a hatred so deep it reaches her very soul even as part of whatever made the man who he was lives inside her. Using the thumb of her right hand she jiggles the ring on her right ring finger as she'd done thousands of times since she'd taken possession of it. That reassuring feel of it there. A connection to her past. The only thing she had of her mother and father that she even cared to own.
Theirs was a love so all-consuming they couldn't find any left over for their daughter and left her with Margaret Addington twenty-six years ago.
Walking stiffly up to the gravesite and the open casket, she links her fingers together briefly, a moment of silence where she's certain everyone present can hear the beating of her heart. She is very sure her Grandmother is watching her every move.
It was such a love her parents had and now she was going to have to place the icon of all they had given to each other into the casket of the man who had killed them. How many times in one lifetime could a single heart be broken?
Removing the ring from her finger she holds it, watching the glittering of the heart-shaped intertwined diamonds. There's an audible sob from her as she tries to maintain her composure and finds herself pathetically lacking in the ability for once. "I'm sorry mom. So sorry. You deserve so much better than this."
Carefully, she places the ring in the casket, letting her hand linger there a little longer than necessary. When she withdraws it, it's empty. Holding the side of the casket she takes a few breaths to try and stop crying at least so she can turn around and retake her place.

Erin's parents - Robert and Isabel (Julia's aunt) - were in town for Susan's funeral, which took place on IC July 11th. After the funeral, Margaret and her brother Thomas appeared to have a falling out that prompted Margaret to ask Erin ride back to the family house in the car with her. When asked, she said only that she and Thomas were having a disagreement about business matters and turned the conversation to idle chat about the funeral and what-not.
The family adjourned to Margaret's house in town, except Robert and Isabel, who had planned to head on to Seattle to the airport. Instead, their car was found having driven off Bayside Road, not far from the turn-off that leads to Addington House. The road has always been notoriously bad, and accidents there are common; in fact, this one was so bad because a guard rail was down from a previous accident only a few days prior.
Both Isabel and Robert were pronounced dead on the scene. Erin will be with Margaret when the news is delivered.

In the evening of July 12th, following the funeral of Susan Lewis (nee Addington), police and paramedics are called to the scene of an accident on Bayside Road. On one of the turns near Addington House - a notoriously bad one, where an accident a few days ago had already taken out a section of the guard rail - the car belonging to Robert and Isabel Addington (Erin's parents; Isabel is Julia's aunt) drove off the road. Both occupants were killed in the crash when the car drove off the cliff and landed on the rocks below.
There does not appear to have been any foul play, but police will be tasked with taking extra precautions. Investigations will ultimately reveal that the car likely blew out one or both of its front tires and went off the cliff where the guard rail was already down, killing both occupants on impact.
Penny gets more bodies. Gotta love the overtime?

Sometime after she ends her day at the Gym and is back home, Erin gets just full-on assaulted. A stab to her chest. Another to her stomach. Another in her chest. They come rapid-fire, stabstabstab. She can feel that next stab pushing into the base of her throat - but it never breaks the skin. Instead, as abruptly as this attack happens, it retreats, a switch flipped somewhere and it just stops.
Assuming Erin calls 911 and goes to the hospital and doesn't just bleed out on the floor of her house... Margaret will come visit her and explain, with a sort of calm apology, that she'd expressed frustration to Thomas earlier in the day about some of the choices Erin is making - mostly the one where Erin works as a secretary! As soon as she realized how that had been interpreted - by Thomas, by Billy, by both - she intervened, but it was obviously too late. For that, Margaret is very sorry.
The visit ends with the suggestion that Margaret feels they're putting this all off too long, and Thomas should be sent away sooner rather than later.

He's barely an Addington - Margaret's second-cousin's grandson or something - but he still managed to capitalize on the family name and become the mayor of Gray Harbor. So Erin tries to get over her snobbery about his bloodlines, since he's actually important now. ~ You keep mostly quiet during things. Is that how you keep your sanity in this family?
One to have on your side. Definitely don't cross her. She's family, that's what matters, but I wonder if there's anything she doesn't take so seriously. I have been getting to know her better and you know, she's witty, she's fun. I'll think of a song for her later.
A wealth of knowledge on drinks and a nice conversationalist. I kind of liked hanging out with her. I don't know much about her background, but I don't want to ask in case I get disillusioned. I'd rather not know. ~ It turns out she is family. My motherwas her aunt. Small world. I'm not really surprised though, there's a ton of Addingtons around. I'm glad she's one of them.
She made it. She got out of the town.
Technically, Margaret is Erin's first cousin twice-removed (her father's father was Margaret's cousin), but Erin is treated like Margaret's own granddaughter. Margaret is a shrewd woman, difficult to really know, but Erin admires her business acumen and intellect, and the old woman dotes on the girl. She's kept at arm's length, as is everyone when it comes to Margaret, but there are glimpses of real affection there. The only mother figure Erin remembers growing up. The two are no longer close.
Technically, Thomas is Erin's first cousin twice-removed (her father's father was Thomas's cousin), but Erin is treated like Margaret's own granddaughter, so she almost feels like she outranks him in the family hierarchy. Certainly, Margaret likes her better than her own brother. They keep each other at a distance, anyway. Not least because the man is a total alcoholic. ~ Your attempt at taking my life failed because you wanted it to fail. I have no illusions in that. If you wanted me dead, I would be dead.

Quite the conspiracy theorist. I mean, completely head over heels in a wealth of knowledge of those things. I consider him a friend whether he is wary of me a lot. One day I may actually convince him I am a friend of his.
~ He's one of the good guys whether he admits to it or not.
We didn't really hang out much in high school,. but she was familiar to me. She always lived on the other side of town. Now I can sympathize with her on losing her family.. now that I have lost my own. She's a good time, personified. So much fun!
He dresses as good as I do, drives a Rolls? Poor boy got rich in his time away from town. Maybe I should have been nicer to him in high school. He looks good whether he knows it or not. But then, success and money look good on almost everyone. I think managing the apartments is more work than he lets on. Especially now.
Who would have thought a Baxter and Addington would be working together to help save the town?
She's damn good people and she's good for Alexander. I'm glad to call her friend. Sad she's gone away. Kind of. I would hope she would come back, but I can't wish that on anyone.
He's a tough guy. I don't know much about the Kelly's except that they've lived here all of their lives too? I think? No matter tough or not, when I needed something, anything, he offered me both a job and a class for learning self defense. I already owe him a lot. He helped pick me up when I needed his brand of toughness.
Lilith is someone I admire and look up to. She's extremely helpful in teaching me the opposite of healing which is all that I have mostly practiced before.
She helped me after my uncle tried to kill me.
I wish I could have returned the favor.
I'm not as talented as she is.
I do hope we'll be good friends.
Byron sure does need her.
The Capitán asked me in to question me on the death of my parents. It was a learning curve and somehow I don't think I came out unscathed. Too complicated.
Ran into him again. It'd been awhile since school, but then again he's several years older than me. He's one of the good guys, the kind someone would take home to meet the parents. If one had.. parents. Or even if he was interested in meeting the parents. Either way, he's a good guy. I hope things go well for him.
Not that we went to high school together, but during my middle school years and a little older his family came down and spent some time in Gray Harbor. First kiss and all that, yadda, yadda, a 6 pack of Zima and a make out session that ended with him losing his alcohol all over me and my dress. That ended somewhat badly, but we were kids. Things happen.
~ He's a good guy, definitely one of the good ones. Geoff's buddy. I'm glad they have each other. More though, I'm glad he and Bennie are making it. I'll be over here silently cheering you on.
Though we went to the same school around the same time, our paths weren't intertwined. Different circles. She does my hair though and she's great at it. I think she's dating one of my bosses.
Nice conversationalist. Nice guy. Likes the holidays as much as I do. Seems like a nice guy, maybe a little intense, but that's not a bad quality at all.
Addington -Lately, it is in name only. Things change. People change. Her Grandmother is beyond disappointed in her.
Class of 2012 - Do you know her? She graduated in 2012 from TS Addington HS. Cheerleader, A-list, Rich, Entitled? You may remember her that way.
High Maintenance? - She drives a fast, expensive car.
Privacy - No, you can't come over. People are rarely invited to her personal domain.
Police Record - Yes, she has one. A DUI. She wrecked her Porsche just out of high school.
Secrets - Yes. She has them. Something within the past few years that she keeps all to herself.
Parents - No, she doesn't have any. In what is loosely coined an 'accident' on 07-12-2019 she lost both of her parents. (Fuck William Gohl)
Harlem Globetrotters - No. Don't ask. She will not go see them perform. Not even if you paid her.
Relationship Fail - It would be comical if it weren't so bad! She has terrible luck with guys and family!
A cousin to the main-line Addingtons, Erin's lack of indirect ties to the family money hasn't prevented her from capitalizing on the family's local fame. She grew up around Gray Harbor, ostensibly because this is the "hub" of the family, but really because they didn't want to be bothered with a child while they were off gallivanting across Europe and Asia. So she spent a lot of time with her cousins, being spoiled and petted and doted upon. And she grew up spoiled rotten. Just, absolutely unabashedly spoiled to the core - with a pony, and golf lessons, and basically the silver spoon right there in her pretty mouth.
This parlayed into a young woman who's never had to take responsibility for her own actions. When she wrecked her Porsche. When she got a DUI. When she fired her maid for supposedly stealing but actually she had just lost her earrings in the pool. It was in response to one of these bits of foolishness that Erin first tapped into her aspect, trying to repair a broken necklace so she didn't have to look at her grandmother and tell her she'd smashed it when she careened drunkenly down the hallway. Over the next couple of years, she worked hard to enhance these abilities, to refine them, to harness them.
To exploit them.
Nowadays, Erin works for the family as a party planner. At least, that's what her paycheck says. Mostly, she just shows up to events looking good and cashes the checks.
Standing at a svelte 5'9", Erin is the kind of woman that puts a great deal of effort into her looks and carries herself with confidence. Her makeup is applied with a light hand and always perfect, blending well with her olive complexion, and her chocolate hair streaked through with honey blonde highlights in effortless looking beach-wave curls. Her clothing is designer brand and always tailored to a flattering fit, heels worn more often than not boost her height several inches.
