Erin had worked the previous day but had also gone by and seen a couple of friends for a bit. Today was her day off but she had gone early to visit one of those friends again who wasn't doing so well. Now she was back, the car parked in the driveway, the growly engine announcing her arrival. The rest of the day she was intending on spending with Jack, if he was taking the day off also. It's still early enough for breakfast but lately she'd preferred cooking with Jack instead of take out. Coming inside, she calls out, "Honey, I'm home!"
Seems he was taking the day as well, he'd spent a few weekends at the shop and now there was some help there, giving him a personal day, a rarity for him. Barefoot, in the kitchen, he's sausages, eggs and cressants (sp) in the works, one of his favorites, like little sandwiches. "Hey woman," he returns, "You're out early, got errands all done?" Chatty by his standards, but she gets more than most. Called over his shoulder as he turns the sausages before putting tongs down. "Come on in, get you some." Breakfast. His bare feet plod on the floor to where she may arrive, so that when she does he can pull her into a strong embrace.
Always a welcome when she comes home. How had she gone without this and him all this time. "All finished. Just had a friend to check on, trying to avoid him a hospital visit." Since she was a nurse at the hospital it made sense. "He's doing a hundred percent better today, I was able to help him." Erin allows herself to be swept up in his strong embrace very willingly, arms around him in return, her face nuzzling against his jaw, breathing in deeply just for the scent of him, of home, of breakfast. "What a wonderful welcome. I could come home to you every day." Tilting her head back, she smiles up at him before brushing a light kiss on his cheek. Truth is, she does come home to him most every day. Or him, to her.
A nod, one single nod, about her friend. He listened and apprecaited what she did for her friends like that, and he knew she was a nurse it all made sense for him. "Glad you could," he tells her as she works her way to the kitchen and into his embrace. "Tough luck on that one," the welcome wagon, "I can't be a stay at home fellow like that." But she knew enough of that and they both came home to each other. "You busy later here? I'm thinking its been awhile since I've been out on a boat." There may be more to that, he never talks about boats or expresses want to be on one, its literally out of the blue, but seems he's asking about boating and her interest in taht.
"The rest of my day belongs to you." Erin reassures, a smile about him being a stay at home guy. "You would go stir crazy sitting at home every day. "I'd never ask that of you. Besides you're my mechanic, you keep my baby humming." Her Maserati that is. "It has been awhile since I have been out o a boat also." Of course she wouldn't mention what happened the last time. But it involved Gilligan's Island! "Do you want to go out on one? My friend Tobin has a boat tour business, we could do that. Or were you looking into purchasing one?" Willing to go all in with him, whatever his suggestion!
"You know me," he agrees about him going stir crazy, then a lower comment, "As much as I can, takes a bit of work." Her Maserati, not really, but he can still old a grudge because its not Ford. Finally returnin gthe kiss to his cheek by putting one to her neck, he takes a moment before responding. "Something like that, a friend is doing the same with a tour business. Asked me to help with engine maintenance, just need to be ready to be on water. Don't trust no one else to go out with and see how it is." Probably not Gilligan's Island for him, but enough of whatever for him to avoid going on boats probably.
"Mm," Erin smiles all warmly when he kisses her in return then tips her head back a little to look at him, hooking her thumbs into a loop on either side of his jeans. "Leave my car out of this," she laughs, taking the teasing well. "There's only one boat tour place in town. I didn't realize you were friends with Tobin. Did you know he lives next door?" The smell of the breakfast is tempting her though and she looks over at the sausages and other food. "Want me to pour us some coffee?" His on ice, she knows the drill. "Or orange juice?" Really anything he likes.
Jack is content to stay in the embrace when she loops thumbs at his jeans. He's just as content to stand body to body. Talking, giving an occasional kiss to her. "You're right, the car didn't choose its .. parents." He listens about the boat place. "Not sure if its been derelict for a bit, but he said the current owner had to sale fast so he got a good deal on it. Could have been your friend Tobin's for all I know, just he wants a good mechanic making sure the boats stay running. I'm hoping its not a series of sewer incidents." Like he knows something more happened with her one friend andthe smell he helped with, but its just a sewer incident in his mind. "OJ is good, if he's next door, you should check on him at some point."
"You have the cutest way of putting things. Parents." Erin finds herself laughing again, she does that a lot when he is around. Leaning closer, she is equally content to exchange kisses and hold conversations about anything and everything with him. "It was closed for the winter, but with spring, it should have been preparing to open soon. I've known Tobin since I was a child. His mother, before she disappeared, used to give all of us cookies. I'll check on him soon. I guess he may have sold it. I'm excited about going there with you though." The sewer mention sort of has her nodding a little. That was a dark time, all leading up to the disappearance and assumed death of her Uncle Thomas. There's so much she can't talk to him about, so much of her life, so she doesn't. Instead, she just nods. "No more sewer incidents." Finally, she forces herself to step away so she can pour them both something to drink and he can check on the breakfast he was making. "I can be ready, after we eat, within a few minutes. I'll just change into something more suitable for a boat."
Content in the moment with her, he nods. "Sure, and could be someone else
Content in that moment with her, he doesn't move too fast either. "Sure and could be someone else he got the boats from, I'm not sure." Not sure in the sense of didn't ask either. Jack just accepted at face value his friend had some boats to look after. She moves away and he stands there, of course he'll paw at her rear when she turns, and a quiet nod, he'll not talk of the sewer either. Jack is good with not talking about other stuff. "We'll do that, find a boat and get out a little, but us." Like not a big tour boat if they can avoid that.
"Your food is burning," Erin motions towards the food that had been neglected since she'd walked into the room. Maybe they're not really, but she does tease him for giving her all of his attention while cooking. The connection to her rear has her swaying it as she walks to the refrigerator to get out some oranges. Then the juicer which was already out. Fresh squeezed was best! Slicing the oranges in half, she starts juicing them, the topic of who owned the boat tours now not really drawn out further. "Sounds like fun, getting out on the boat. We'll do that." Getting a couple of glasses out, she drops ice in hers, "Ice or no?" Lifting her hed to look at him, awaiting his preference.
Of course he'll watch her sway, and respond, "Something's burning allright." As the gets to oranges and juicing, he'll turn back to food. If any have gotten too dark, he'll remove them, maybe center of the pan, but otherwise he'll finish up too. Getting their breakfast sandwhiches together while she gets drinks going. "Ice," cause the colder the better, always, even coffee. He'll come to stand by her, if they want to eat standing. Offering plate to her, one for him, but he'll hold up his sandwich to offer her a bite, "One lump or two," as if he'd do some bugs bunny level lumps but not really. It just seemed a fitting questino following her ice or no, the bite offer is real.
Without him seeing as she faces the juicer, Erin has a lopsided smile at the comment before turning and leaning against the counter to offer his to him. The juice that is. Her own is still on the counter so when he offers her a bite of the sandwich, she leans forward and closes her lips over it, then her teeth to take a bite, "Mmm," she says with her mouth closed as she chews. "All the lumps and bumps," offered after she swallows, waggling her brows. Happy to remain right there and eat their shared breakfast, she makes no moves to go to the table or the island with the barstools on one side. "Breakfast is so good. Once we finish and I clean up and get dressed, we can go."
He could just watch her, and be fine. That she returns back his way, encourages him. Fixed on closed eyes and teeth over the bite, "You'll get yours." He says deeply as she chews before she swallows. Even as they eat, he may swap bites/give some to her, just enjoying her eating, brining her closer by lifting the bites his way. "Sure, after we get dressed." To let them enjoy breakfast, and time with each other in passionate embrace. They'll get to the boat when they get there.
