Elazar is wearing a leather jacket well worn and black with matching black jeans and his shirt hidden by the front being zipped up. His hands are tucked into his jacket pockets and even still he cuts a trim appearance, broad shoulders, but a tapering form beyond that. It looks like he just left a local hardware shop and is turning to walk further into town, his breath fogging as he breathes, attention apparently on something else since he doesn't take note of passing cars or people on foot unless they're directly in his way.
It's very cold out, but Minerva is bundled up in her long wool coat, gloves on her hands and there's her hat on her head. She doesn't leave home without the hat. He didn't know this yet though. She was just heading down from the bookstore when she caught sight of something tall and dark haired. She stops to appreciate the view of Elazar before she heads his way. Her boots make little sounds on the pavement as she approaches him, "Are you finding everything that you need?" she greets him with a smile.
Elazar pauses turning around to look at Minerva and then fully turns to face her with a considering look. "So far, I got a contractor recommended from the shop owner at the hardware store. I was going to go see what downtown looked like, what are you going out? Meeting with a client?" he wonders as the assessive gaze travels down and back up, the least that could be said for him is he never stares at her eye patch but he looks her in the eye.
Minerva manages not to trip over herself when he turns fully to face her as she walks to him. She gives a smile up to him, "I was picking up a book that I needed. And a few other things from the bookstore." she tells him. "Do you want some company with your walk or should I leave you to things?" she asks him as she looks up to him. "They have good contacts at the hardware, so I'm sure whoever they gave you will be good." she admits.
"I could use a guide moreso than company." Elazar states to Minerve as he pulls a hand out of his jacket pocket to beckon her to walk alongside him even as he turns to continue on. "Electronics store for computer, coffee shop that's open around 5am, a stationary store for my pens and paper." he explains his to do list to Minerva before tucking his hand back into the jacket, his elbow bumping against her side as if keeping her paced with him. "What book did you get?"
"A guide. Got it." Minerva tells him as she casts her eyes down for the moment as she walks at his side. She seemed to be a guide for everyone. She rattles off the name of a electronics store and a stationary store for him. "As for coffee, Espresso yourself I think is open at that time...or Grizzly Den diner. The Waffle Shoppe down the street from the apartment is open twenty four hours." she tells him. "Do you train that early or something?" she asks him.
Then she pulls the book out of her bag, "It's just some books for weddings and things. I also wanted a copy of a new Psychology book that came out so picked it up. Need to keep on top of things." she smiles to that.
"Early in the morning is when I like to make changed to layouts and plans for designs I'm being paid to do. I like to train in the afternoon, when my body is awake and I've had an early breakfast." Elazar explains as the walk down the street and she lists off a surprising number of suitable options. "Any chance of a good bagel in this town?" he asks perhaps propagating a stereo type or they just had good bagels in New York and Tel Aviv.
As she shows the books he eyes the wedding one moreso than the Pscyhology book while asking, "Has your family pressed for a date, mine have not but they are certainly... Expecting something this year."
"Do you like to be left alone when you do changes to layouts and things?" Minerva asks him as she looks to him. "I ask so I don't bother you and get things thrown at me." she tells him. Then she smiles, "Yeah, there's a few shops around that have good bagels and my parents own a bakery and make them fresh daily." she points out. Then she shakes her head, "My mom and dad haven't pressed. They asked for nothing spooky included though." she sighs softly.
"Do you have a preference of Season? I don't know if you wanted to take a few months to get settled and then start planning or what your preference was." she admits.
"I'm up almost three hours before you, I don't think it'll be an issue." Elazar points out not rudely but simply stated and not really answering the question as they walk along their breath fogging and trailing in their wake. "A New Years wedding for the end of 2020 and the roll over to 2021 seems best to me. It gives us ample time, bundles up new years with our wedding anniversary." so practical this one. When Minerva mentions her mom and dad, Elazar slows to a stop and looks around, "Lets get lunch there then, it's cold and I could use something warm. Unless you don't want them to see me?"
Minerva gives a look to him, but it surely sounds like he's judging her for getting up at 8am. Like a normal human being! "I...nevermind." she shakes her head. She was trying so hard to be nice and she felt stupid. "That sounds fine." she tells him as she looks to her hands. Her voice didn't sound fine, but, maybe it's the cold. "Why wouldn't my parents want to see you? They think you're great." she tells him with a chuckle. "So sure, lets head over there. It's not that far of a walk." she states as she approaches one of the cross walks.
<FS3> Elazar rolls Perception: Success (7 4 1) (Rolled by: Portal)
Elazar has always been kind of reserved not especially touchy feely but he isn't blind to a little emotion. He doesn't say anything immediately he just turns to cross with Minerva. "They are nice, your parents and now that we can give them a date they'll be thrilled. Once we tell them, we can call mine." he suggests with that quiet voice of his. "What do you like to do for fun in this town?" he wonders, clearly trying to offer an olive branch with that last bit.
Minerva walks quietly by Elazar for the moment, but when he talks there a look to him, "Yeah, they are. They do a lot for others and try to take care of people." she admits to that. "I'm sure they'll be fine with the date, just so many people get married in the New Year." she shrugs. Then there's a bit of a chuckle, "I don't go out much. Unless it's to investigate something or shop." she states. "There's a new movie theater in town and there's a few night clubs and bars though." she offers. "What do you like to do for fun?" she asks him.
"Read, hike, night clubs aren't really appealing but a nice lounge." Elazar says conversationally the chill seeming to ebb as they carry on the talk. "You don't like the New Year?" the question a little pointed he even turns to look at her assessively as they walk along.
"Please don't hike in the Firefly Forest unless you go with someone else." Minerva tells him with a bit of a frown. "I'll go with you. The trails get silly with winter and snow. Some people end up breaking their ankle due to getting caught in the muck." she states. It wasn't because it was a beacon of the WEIRD. "What do you like to read?" she asks. Then there's a bit of a hand wobble, "I think the New Year is fine, but I like Autumn and Late Spring. The New Year always has to be planned carefully when it comes to weddings because there's so much going on." she sighs.
"I prefer cooler so when in autumn would you prefer?" Elazar says evidently right to the point a date was set and now a new date needs to be figured out... Before they see her parents that they're walking to, perhaps that is why he's so quick for specifics. He even glosses over the woods and book question just watching Minerva. "And local or destination wedding?" now she's getting the whole shebang of queries.
Minerva gives a look to him, "How about November 1st? It's a Sunday and I won't make anyone get married on my birthday." she chuckles softly. "I'm really not trying to be weird on things. Just...I don't want to do Winter. I was going to get married in the Winter before and I'd like to not jinx this." she admits quietly. "I'm fine with either here or somewhere else. I have people here that would like to attend. Do you prefer doing it in Seattle so your parents don't have to travel?" she asks him.
"No here is good I prefer to have the wedding somewhere that means something to us, not our parents." Elazar decides after a few minutes of walking in silence, an awkward lull in the conversation. "And November 1st is good with me, I wouldn't want to bring any bad luck on the ceremony. There's already the dubious tradition of breaking glass together." and then he offers an easy smile, expressive and it touches those dark eyes of his.
"That makes sense." Minerva nods to that. "I just don't want to be a bridezilla or be the one that directs everything. It's not really fair to you." she tells him. Compromise was a good thing. "Yeah, this town has enough bad luck without us tempting fate." she agrees with him. The easy smile he gives makes her smile a bit more, maybe it wasn't going to be horrible. "So November 1st, here, we'll work out other details later or something." she nods to that as they approach Kosimar Bakery.
Elazar opens the front door of Kosimar bakery for Minerva letting her get a scope on the crowd and where her parents might be. The topic of the wedding decided he brings back up hiking, "Would you like to go on a weekly afternoon hike with me in those woods you mentioned. Since I'm not supposed to go alone?"
The bakery is blissfully not busy at the moment, but the smells are inviting and there's the sound of the bell over the door as they enter. There are little tables to sit at near the window and towards the back of the shop, "Do you want to sit up here or near the back?" she asks him. Then there's a smile to him, "I'd like that. The dogs would like that as well. They are getting bigger, so probably need to get them out more." she admits. "Do...you have a problem with spiders?" she asks him.
"Not really why do you?" Elazar wonders in response to the bit about spiders then he follows her in, shrugging off his worn leather jacket to fold it over one arm cutting a neat and tidy figure with dark eyes scanning the room. "Lets sit up front otherwise your parents might secret us into the back, at least here we're a bit more public." not that it's a guarantee of safety. He puts the jacket of the back of a chair near the front of the bakery and nods to the back counter, "Egg-wash bagel with lox and butter, let them know we're here?"
"No. I have two. I just...didn't want you to come across them and freak out without knowing about them. They have terrariums up in the garden room at the loft." she tells him. "If they become a problem I could probably rehome them fairly easily." she states. Then she looks to him and there's a smile, "I'll be right back. Do you want something to drink with your bagel?" she asks him. Then she's heading for the back.
But her father probably saw them coming in from the back, because there's a loud laugh and then "Irvriya!" from the back. Then her father comes walking out to wrap her up in a hug, "We were just going to call you this evening." she tells her. Then he looks over and sees Elazar sitting there and there's a bit of a look to Minerva, "Were you going to tell us he was here?" he asks her as he directs her back towards where Elazar is sitting with a warm smile, "Mister Malkin, it's good to see you again!" he greets him cheerfully. Minerva's father is tall with greying hair and dark eyes, but in pretty decent shape for his age.
Minerva goes up to deal with ordering while Elazar is dealing with his future father-in-law.
