Everyone has departed except Elazar who is sitting across from Minerva at the large meeting table. His coffee is cooling, untouched since the appearance of SKELETOR. His expression is a little grim, his attention solely on her face now and the very strong air of 'wtf' is coming off him. "So?" he delicately presses without outright going what the fuck.
Minerva did her best to not be upset while others were there and as soon as the door had closed she'd teared up a little, but she was wiping them away after locking the door and making sure things were alright in the front of the building.
The word draws her attention to him, "I have to help get rid of him." she states. "There's a house that's on the outskirts of the Firefly Forest that sees at least one death a year. Generally they are homeless or drug users. The kids that go into that House aren't ever seen again." she states. "When I was very young, I followed my older brother into that house...and I got trapped in the basement. And I saw him." she points behind her at the screen. "No one heard me and no one got to me until that night." she frowns.
"Skeletor, I'm sorry I know that's a stupid name, is a creature of the veil and he's pretty fucking evil. So we're going to end him once and for all. He won't hurt anyone else again." she nods to this.
Elazar himself seems a little shaken, pale, but perhaps more in the wtf state than anything. When Minerve is tearing up though he gets up walks around the table until he's beside her, one hand on her shoulder with a squeeze his voice softer now. "What do you need me to do. If it's an old house, you could collapse it relatively easily they had bad supports in the old days a lof of it was in the centerline of the structure you could damage them and it might collapse in on itself."
The softer side of Elazar is not expected and the woman gives a look up to him, "Hey, are you okay?" she asks him. "And I need the house intact sadly, I can null a bit of space and it'll weaken the house enough that it will burn. I've been practicing." she tells him. "I need you not to be hurt." she tells him. "If you want to help collapse after the fire is going, that might help the most." she admits to him. "But I...don't want you hurt." she states again.
"I'm alright you just don't expect... Ghoul things to be in the shop below your fiancee's apartment." Elazar explains as his hand gives another squeeze and he steps back to grab a chair and pull it alongside her own and nod for them both to sit now his pastry and coffee left behind. "I want to help, but it sounded like everyone was just trying to destroy the building. Why don't you bring me up to speed and then I'll tell you if I'm likely to be hurt."
Minerva gives a look to him, "I mean, it's me we're talking about. Ghouls are probably the most tame thing." she chuckles. Trying to lighten the mood. She gives a smile to him though as he pulls a chair up and she reaches out to take his hands, her own were scarred from...whatever happened months ago. "Destroying the building is what we need to do. It's what is allowing him to move between the real world and the veil. So cutting him off would be the best...and so many children have went missing after going into that house...and there are a lot of deaths that have happened there." she frowns.
"Are they?" Elazar says with some hint of concern in his voice, those dark eyes searching her face and her remaining eye as if hoping for a glimmer of oh no it's not -that- bad. "Does the building need to be destroyed by fire and why do you need to null the rooms does he protect it somehow because it's his anchor?" the jewish man asks clearly bouncing from concern and progressing the whole understanding issue.
Minerva gives Elazar a look and she seems to grow tired, "Are they dead?" she asks him. "I don't know. I'm hoping that by destroying the house we either open up a temporary door to wherever he's storing the kids or...we find their bodies so that they can be buried." she tells him. "If we null the room then he won't be able to use any of the house to his advantage." she admits. "I'm probably going to get hurt, there's no real way around that. I just need you to make sure we aren't going to drag the house down on anyone." she sighs.
"He's why my eye is gone." she murmurs to him.
"The house has been here that long, causing that many problems. I always thought your eye was lost because it got injured during a... rite." Elazar admits as they're looking at each other, sitting beside each other, her holding his hand and his squeezing her own obviously aware of the sensitive subject. "But why fire because it'll turn the house to ash, cleanse it, is it collapsing competely not destroyed enough?"
Minerva gives a look to him, "A rite?" she asks him. "My eye...how much do you know about my eye, Elazar?" she asks him. She was sure something was not delivered right. "Fire will cleanse things and I'll do a rite of exorcism over it once it's all done." she nods to this. And no, collapsing it and leaving it will still leave the urge for people to go in through the rubble. And we can't take that chance." she frowns.
"So it has to be well and truly gone to be safe, alright." Elazar seems to give a nod and a twitch of his lips at the requirement, but at a glance his expression isn't opposed to the level of destruction needed. "I don't know anything except I thought you lost it doing your work in the occult." he admits with a brief grimace. "I don't mean to be insensitive, that's just what I thought when my parents mentioned it and your line of work."
"It does, yes." Minerva tells Elazar. Then there's a bit of a moment she looks into his eyes, "No, I didn't lose it during a rite. I was six when I went into that basement and for the next few years I would hear this constant voice telling me that I was going to die or that I was going to end up like one of those other children that didn't escape. Then more voices, more feelings, I've had my powers since I was born and all of it just drove me to the point of...carving my own eye out. I was eight." she admits. "It's gruesome, I know. I was...not in a good state of mind when it happened, but I was so young that I couldn't begin to know where to get help with things." she whispers.
"I get if that is...too heavy for you." she admits.
Elazar is expressive once his reserved nature gives way to the reactions. As Minerva speaks there's no small amount of out of his depth shock at the tale and then a scowl at the end of it. "No it's not to heavy, things like this are best known before the wedding..." then he trails off and adds, "It's good it's a year away it sounds like there's quite a bit to... Learn." then he offers a sad if sympathetic smile to Minerva, "It's good of you to try and undo the curse on this town and protect the children... Get closure for what was done to you." then his hand comes up, back of his knuckles against her cheek. "Do you want to go upstairs, I can order takeout and we can get a drink." then a look to the coffee pot, "A real drink."
"So you can decide how fast and far to run?" Minerva gives a soft chuckle. It's a joke, but, she seems used to people running.
"And yeah, there's a lot of things that need to be learned about both of us I think." She nods to this. Minerva then gives a soft smile when he touches her cheek, her eyes closing at the feel of the warmth.
"I just want to help and make sure that others don't grow through what we did." She murmurs as she opens her eye and focuses on him. "Take out and a drink sounds wonderful." She smiles to him, her hand squeezing his warmly.
"If I wanted to run, I wouldn't have come." Elazar reminds Minerva with an affectionate smile on his expressive lips a hint of rhyhm in his response. "Take out and a drink and more talking... What do you want chinese or something else?" he wonders as he gets up from his chair and brushes his hand across Minerva's cheek before it falls back to his side. "I don't really have a preference, it won't take long for me to pick it up so if you can make a good mojito." it's obviously a trade pickup the takeout for mojitos when he's back.
Minerva gives him a soft smile at his words, "I was mostly teasing." she tells him. "That sounds like a good plan for the rest of the evening, yes." she states. "Chinese is good with me. And I can attempt to make a good mojito, I've got everything here for it." she admits. "So mojitos, take out and then we'll see about sorting some more things out." she nods to him as she stands. She gathers her laptop to head upstairs with him, since that's where everything is.
"Good, I'll order. I bet I know what you like." Elazar says while slipping a phone from his back pocket and opening up google maps to find the nearest Chinese place that does a pickup. "Go upstairs, get the drinks ready I'll be like twenty minutes." he decides and then he's on the phone putting an order in while walking to the door.
Minerva gives a bit of a grin, "That's a bold statement." she muses to him. "Thank you, Elazar." she tells him as he starts to leave. Then she's heading upstairs. Taking a moment to look around the apartment, just to make sure there's no skeletal visitors when he gets back with food.
When Elazar does return there's the smell of lime and mint in the air and Minerva's putting her bottle of white rum back in the cabinet. Apparently that's where the alcohol is stashed! There's a bit of a look to the mojitos and then a nod, those would do. She's kicked her shoes off and taken her sweater coat off, but she's still wearing her dress and the knit thigh highs that she had on with them. She is seated on the stool at the island in the kitchen and looking through her phone.
Elazar comes up from downstairs with two take out bags and some styrofoam containers within. The door gets closed with the back of his heel and then he's walking over to the island, putting them down and beginning to open them up. "Beef and broccoli, general tsao's chicken, wonton soup, and house fried rice.... and beef and wide egg noodles." it's all fresh and hot, he even has chopsticks if she uses them. "Did I get it right then?" and he snags one of the iced mojitos to take a sip making an mmm sound of approval.
Minerva gives him a smile as he comes in and starts to unload stuff, "Is this where I say you did to make you feel better?" she asks him with a grin. "I like beef and broccoli, so it's no fuss. My favorite is Chicken Lo Mein though." she states. She looks content with the food though! "Thank you it all smells wonderful." she tells him. "Did you want to have a seat in here or in the living room?" she asks him.
"No here is good and chicken lo mein." Elazar looks at the wide egg noodles and beef with a tch, "I knew it'd be a noodle dish. I was close." then he's sliding the beef and broccoli over while claiming the noodles for himself. "Here is good, so how long have you been seriously dedicated to destroying that house and what other... Veil related things have you been involved in, like the supposed explosion in here?"
"I'm not picky on food really. Mom and Dad made sure of that growing up." Minerva murmurs to that with a smile. "Noodles are really one of my favorite foods." she tells him as she takes up some of the beef and broccoli with her chopsticks. His question catches her off guard, "I think since I was seventeen or eighteen really. So about eleven years." she admits. "I've been doing this since about the same age. I wasn't like a normal child." she tells him. "We were trying to see if we could extended nullification. And the veil didn't like that. So the object that we had tamped with exploded...which was not something I expected." she tells him. "I should have been prepared for it...and I wasn't." she frowns.
"Noodles are one of my favorites too." Elazar admits as he snaps his chopsticks and gives them a few clicks, his technique superb while mixing up the noodles and beef to ensure all the meat isn't just on top. "You've been trying to solve this skeletor business with the house for eleven years, that's very dedicated of you." he remarks with a somewhat impressed look at the young woman and then he's eating noodles, sluuuuurp. "How does nullification work, it seals the veil and glimmer in an area, why would it explode was something fighting you or did you just try and suppress to large an area?"
Minerva gives a bit of a smile at the note of noodles, "I'll have to remember this." she tells him. Then there's a nod to him, "Yeah. I think I'm a few years younger than you. Couldn't really do stuff when I was underfunded and in school." she chuckles. "Nullification is sealing the veil and glimmer out of a space. No powers work, no veil creatures can get in. But it requires a lot of upkeep. We were trying to see if we could get it to stay longer, not a bigger area, though we could try that." she looks thoughtful.
"So it exploded but you didn't expect it, so how or why did it explode?" Elazar asks clearly it is an evening of specific and vague questions in between a pop of beef into his mouth and a silent chew while looking at Minerva. "And how long do nullifications last normally without efforts to extend it?"
Minerva gives a look to him, "I think it was the veil telling us not to go so big so fast." she admits. "And I think I've reached the ceiling or approaching the ceiling for powers. So it could have been things not working right due to my own error." she frowns. "They generally last a day." she tells him. "Around twenty-fourish hours give or take." she adds.
"How long do they take to enact, can they be moved or does it have to be stationary?" Elazar asks as he continues to eat his noodles at an impressive pace, he seems to enjoy them quite a bit. "Could you bind it to something and then carry it to the house, wouldn't that be safer?"
"I generally do it with a ritual that I do. Probably about fifteen or so minutes." Minerva tells him. Then there's a look to him, "Basically at the end of time, the power wears off. It's just a process that I do. And I've not tried binding it to anything and moving it. I don't think it would work." she states. "And the house is a different beast altogether. Normal routine won't work with it." she frowns.
"Because the veil is stronger there or because skeletor will resist and try and fight back?" Elazar asks clearly getting to the reason he was trying to reduce her time in the house. "How does skeletor fight, is it metaphysical or completely mental? I would prefer if you're putting yourself at risk that I be able to at least keep my fiancee safe."
Minerva settles her chopsticks down and states something in Hebrew, "He's just...I don't know, he's one of those weird amalgamations of the veil that I've never seen before. I can't track what powers he really has and he seems to adapt to a lot of what we throw at him. So sheer force and crushing him will need to be done." the raven haired woman states. "And he is a mix of mental and physical attacks. He has no trouble grabbing us or anything like that." she tells him. "I don't know how to be safe in the situation besides not going in." she frowns.
"It sounds like he is not singular he is adaptive. Maybe he is shaped by fear? People fear what they cannot defeat, what they cannot defend against." Elazar responds in hebrew his accent somewhat more rustic and Israeli instead of metropolitan new york. "If you cannot avoid danger, then let me at least help you survive it?"
Minerva is clearly surprised he knows Hebrew, but there's a smile when the initial shock wears off, "There go my plans of making quips in another language." she teases him gently. "And I think you might have that right." she admits. Then she gives him a soft look and a nod, "Alright, Elazar. I can let you do that." She concedes.
Elazar switches back to english and admits, "My hebrew is pretty bad." there's a sheepish smile from the expressive man. "So now that we're doing this together, what is the actual plan that you're going to propose to all the others next time you meet and when is it happening and what can I do to prepare?"
"We can work on it if you like." Minerva tells him with a smile of her own. His sheepish smile made her chest feel tight though. In a good way. "I'm going to propose that we do the inside preparations prior to trying to set anything ablaze. I don't want folks stumbling around in the dark and light themselves on fire." she frowns. "Then I null and try to get out as fast as possible. Then we start fire and dropping things. August really wants to drop trees on him. I'm going to say it's fine." she chuckles.
"We'll do it a few days before the Spring Equinox. Probably Saint Patrick's day. The police will have other things to deal with as it is." she admits.
"Dropping trees can work are there large trees nearby that can be cut to fall on the house?" Elazar wounds returning the smile all the more when she smiles at him, he pulls over some house fried rice and begins to add it to the remainder of his noodles to mixed together. "So the plan is to... Break in, nullify, start settingthings on fire and dropping things and that's... The jist."
"Yeah, there's trees around to drop on the house. It's in a particularly woodsy area." she admits. "And there's no breaking in. House was abandoned longer than I've been alive. Just time for it to stop." she states. "That's the jist, yep. Figured it'll be time to get a good stiff drink after its done." She murmurs to him.
"Sounds like you'd really want a stiff drink -before." Elazar point out with a notable drink from his mojito and then some more chinese food. "What about the others, what is their involvement in all this... Are they your friends, did they just get swept up with their own experiences with the house, are they thrill seekers?"
"Need my head to be clear going in. So no drinking for me." Minerva muses. "The others have had their own incidents with the house. It took a little girl last year, but we managed to get her back. I was treating her for what she experienced, but when he went after her again I told the parents to move as far as they could." She admits.
"He was in the shop downstairs, can he travel very far from the house? Could he come because he has a connection to you because he victimized you in the past?" Elazar wonders clearly still cycling through questions as he nurses the mojito the food mostly eaten. "I thought Gray Harbor always had a higher... Number of glimmered people, is this not something that the community of those with glimmer should be dealing with or is that what this is, everyone willing to help was downstairs?"
"He can pop into things. But it probably used a great amount of energy for him to do that. So I wouldn't worry about a repeat performance tonight." Minerva tells him. "And yes, we do have a higher number of glimmer users, but we are not a real community that bands together like others might. People have their own lives and problems. I created the group so we'd have support and people to go to really." she admits. "Most people showed up, others had other obligations. Most of those that have had dealings attended though." she states.
"It was a pretty big gathering if everyone in the room had glimmer, I mean it's one out of how many thousands of people that has a gift and is further aware of it?" Elazar supposes as he finishes off his first mojito with a siiiiiiiiiip as the ice shifts and presses up against his face while he tips back the glass to eek out the last bits of liquor. "Want me to start cleaning up?" he nods to the take out dishes and bag, the drink glasses. "Pops into things or to places, was he just in the projector and not really behind you?"
"I'm sure most of them have it. If not they are just curious or have been in situations with the house before." Minerva tells him. "I can help with cleaning up." she states as she starts to slide off the stool. "Leftovers will make a good lunch for tomorrow though." she grins to that. "He could have shown up in the room if he was at full power. He was thankfully just in the picture." she sighs to that. "He's been here many times. I'm going to be glad when I can sleep peacefully for a night and not have it on my mind." she states as she starts to put things away.
"Because he's weakened or because you have someone sleeping beside you?" Elazar queries as he begins to clean up the glasses dumping the ice, washing them out, leaving the left overs to be put away by Minerva. "So when, not if, you deal with this House what then? You've been dealing with it for so many years, is it just over once you've burned it to the ground and unlinked Skeletor from the real world?"
"Because he's weakened. I don't think he'd be scared of someone else being here." Minerva admits to him. Not even if he's tall and gorgeous is what she doesn't say! She gives a soft shrug, "Sleep for a few days if I'm not too tore up. See if there's any remains that need to be dealt with, all of that." she states. "It's just one less thing on my list of things to deal with. There's still other stuff to be dealt with, just...this was my big one." she admits. "And hopefully it will kill him entirely, if not just send him back to the veil." she adds.
"A guy can hope." Elazar replies as the sink turns off and he begins to towel off his hands looking back to Minerva in her dress and stockings with those dark brown eyes of his. "What else is on your to do list, anything I should know about?"
Minerva gives a look to him and there's a smile, "I'm sure others wouldn't mess around with you in the bed as well. If that makes you feel any better?" she offers to him. Once food is put up she gives a look to him, "Well...it's a rather long list at this point. There's live till my wedding, go on a honey moon somewhere that's not fool of creepy things that want to murder me, have sex, add onto the apartment. Just everyday stuff you know." she chuckles to that. "And what about you?" she asks him.
"It does." Elazar confirms while walking around the island in the kitchen and towards Minerva as she lists her other to dos. "Surviving to the wedding, a good honeymoon location, and have sex are all admirable. I'm not sure on the order." he says with a hint of suggestiveness in that his pace stopping him short of Minerva where his height gives him an imposing figure in front of her. "Move in, expand the apartment, make sure you don't die before the wedding, let you pick the honeymoon location, think about this sex goal and when it's best to fit in."
Minerva gives a look to him as he stops short of her and there's a bit of a blush to her cheeks, "There's no rush on figuring an order out." she tells him. Though her eyes do wander down a little over his form, but she looks back up to him. "I'm not dying before the wedding. I promise. I haven't even got to go dress shopping or any of the fun stuff yet." she muses. "And...shouldn't we both pick the location?" she asks him. "I'm sure we'll know when the sex is ready to be fit in." she murmurs to him.
"Normally the honey moon is the husbands job but I'm not the one who is routinely waylaid by spirits and other things. So why don't you pick it and I'll pay." Elazar suggests with his hands coming up to rest on either side of her upper arms, as if holding her just a half arms length away looking her over. "Ready for bed or did you have something else in mind?"
Minerva gives a look to him and there's a soft smile, "That's very kind of you. I'll make sure not to pick Antarctica though. While I like penguins, I don't want to deal with subfreezing temperatures." she muses to that. When he rests his hands on her arms there's a moment to look back up to him, there's something she wants to say, but she thinks better of it before she steps in to him fully, unless he stops her. "While I have something else in mind, I think bed might be the best thing." she tells him. Then she's leaning in that little bit to place a kiss on his cheek.
