Kip was mildly fascinated as she entered the Grizzly. The bears were...an interesting decoration even with a name like 'Grizzly Den Diner'. She had been here at least once before, years ago it felt like, but the whole theme was still intriguing. She finally took a seat at the counter and attempted to get the attention of the server. "Coffee, black. Two eggs, scrambled." A beat of pause. "Please." Her accent was thick - and Russian.

She looks a little sleepy as she leans on the counter, opening up the book she's brought with her. Most Haunted: Pacific Northwest. Even though it's the middle of winter- she's wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt and only a windbreaker. Winter's in Russia are a lot colder than this, it might as well be Spring already for the woman.

Thewlis looks up from where he sits, at the diner counter, hunched over toast and corn beef hash, forehead krinkling as he tilts his head at the thick accent. Looking to the book, and tilting his head to the side, the gravedigger's brow comes up and he studies for a long minute while sipping at his coffee.

Kip was focused on the book, though it maybe seemed like she was struggling just a little to read it since she was on the same page for a rather long moment. Feeling eyes upon her, she lifted her head and focused on Thewlis. Staring at the starer for a few seconds. "Yes?" Her own brow quirked.

Blinking as he realizes he was staring, Thewlis turns red but at least manages to keep from looking down into his coffee. "Oh... I... I. Th-th-the buh-book, w-wuh-was just luh-hooking at th-tha-hat..." stammering out as he takes another sip of his drink. "C-c-come t-to town t-to ghost huh-hunt?" ducking his head and then looking down at his food with hunched shoulders.

Kip's expression softened ever so slightly as Thewlis spoke, looking down at her book and then back to him even as he look away. "Maybe. I'm working with team in Seattle. So wherever they will go, I will go." A shrug of her shoulders and then a smile. "Good to be informed on places they might choose. And lets me brush up on my English reading." She thanked the server when her coffee was given, taking a careful sip. "Do you live here?"

"Yeh-uh-yuh-yeah... I'm fuh-from here." toying with his food, Thewlis keeps eyes on his coffee for the time being, chewing at his lower lip. "I..." head down a second as he tries to think of what to say before he manages to look to Kip fully as his head cants to the side.

"Gr-guh-gur-Gravedigger?"

Interest in those dark brown eyes at that. "Gravedigger? Have you ever had strange happenings in the cemetery?" Kip has closed up her book for now, taking another sip of the coffee.

A long moment is spent, considering Kip - at least sort of. He is only able to maintain eye contact for a few seconds before he's forking hash into his mouth to buy time.

"Ah-hall the tu-time..." forcing himself to admit. Not like it'll get out. Not in this damn town. "Puh-people like t-t-to criti-s-s-s-cize how the-hey-hay-hay're buried... wh-h-hile I d-d-do it..."

"Really? You've really seen a ghost? What do they look like?" In all her years of looking, Kip never has seen a manifestation. Only seen and felt symptoms. Garbled audio, cold spots. Then, of course, she's tricked the camera a couple times on her own. Though maybe she shouldn't have because her team in Russia started accusing her of setting up elaborate mechanisms to simulate ghost activity...which is why she is here in the States now trying to not lose all of her paranormal investigating cred.

"Maybe I will stop by sometime? I am here for...the forseeable future." A touch of a sigh escaping the woman that is followed up by a long sip of coffee.

There's another short span of time at the question and the comment about visiting the cemetery, judging by the glimmer about her, Thew offers a shrug, "It depends... S-huh-some in... n-n-normal look? S-s-suh-hum how th-th-they died? S-suh-hum worse." nodding when his coffee is refreshed and taking a long sip of it now.

"Th-th-there's worse, in th-th-this town t-t-too. Nuh-need t-be ca-hare-ful miss." looking at her earnestly now, lips drawn in a line

A thoughtful noise at his descriptions and then his warning. "Are there? I will stay on my toes then." Not disbelieving him but, it was going to have to be something the woman saw for herself. She shifted, extending a hand to him to shake. "Kapitsa Zakharovna." Her name is offered, "Call me Kip." Because it was easier for people to pronounce! "What is your name?"

The air is thick with the hesitation when the hand is offered, but Thewlis does take it in a fragile and quick handshake. "TH-th-th-Thewlis Muh-Moore." bobbing his head slightly, "Puh-peh-hee-eee-pull ca-call muh-me Thew..." Like Hugh. He doesn't do the hand wipe or anything else when he draws back, but he looks like he was expecting to be bit or something.

"Nuh-nice t-t-t-to meet you, Kip." He could do the full name, but Kip is easier to get through without stuttering.

"Nice to meet you too. Do you prefer Thew or Thewlis?" Kip asked, a touch amused about something or or other as her eggs are served finally. "I promise I do not bite unless asked." A quick wink to the man as she ate a bite or two of the eggs.

Blinking and blushing at that, Thew looks down at his plate again, "I... It... I... Uh. It's... I." Swallowing hard and shutting up as he takes a breath, "Either is fu-fu-fine... names... I mu-me-he-hean." head ducking again and looking more and more frustrated as he fails to be able to speak.

Kip was a remarkably patient woman, you had to be if you dream job was sitting in old and decrepit buildings waiting around for something to happen. So she simply waited until Thewlis had gotten through his words before speaking up herself. "Thewlis it is then." She decides. Noting his frustration, "Have you ever tried speech therapy?" A simple, curious question.

Looking mournful now, Thew shrugs, "D-d-duh-husant w-work." running his tongue along the inside of his lower lip a moment, a nervous tic by the look of it, but he does look back to Kip, "It... I. It's. I deal wuh-hi-hith it." Finishing his hash and wiping his mouth with a napkin. "I fo-hou-hound alt-t-ernates."

Hands lifting and moving swiftly in sign, a question if anyone who could see his hands spoke it.

"Fair enough. Though, I also feel most therapy doesn't work." Kip mused. She watches his hands and smiled again. "A very good alternative. Though I do not know how to sign myself." But the gestures were easy enough to recognize as much. "But perhaps I will learn some if we will be seeing each other more at the cemetery."

"Y-y-you don't ha-ha-aa-aa-ve to on muh-my account" Finally looking to her again, or trying, his ability to maintain eye contact flitting to him looking around the diner, at the various distractions. "Ap-pre-pre-heh-heciate the seh-hentiment." bobbing his head slightly, Thewlis manages a weak smile. "Suh-so... What do y-y-ouh duh-do?" brow raised - clearly not speaking about the ghost hunting

"I imagine it may be something useful to know in general anyhow." Kip shrugged and offered up another smile. Though it faltered ever so slightly when he asked what do you do? Regarding him a touch more carefully now and - of course - instead of answering out right counters with, "What do you do?" Feeling out exactly what he was referring to.

Casually lifting a glass, and running his fingers over it, as the glimmer shifts around him, Thew seems to gently buff away years of scuffs, scratches, and other marks from years of a glass being used. Setting down a like new piece of glassware, and then looking back to Kip, brows raised.

Kip watches Thewlis fixing the glass with just a touch. Eyes widened ever so slightly. She hadn't been privy to whatever what was that he was doing. Then she also pays a bit more attention to the shimmer around him. She draws in a soft breath and straightens up some. After taking stock of who all was around and making sure the server wasn't paying attention, she focuses on the glass that he used. Making a gentle 'come here' motion with her finger, which caused the glass to slide over to her, and then she sent it back his way.

"How long have you been able to do that?"

A little smile at the moving of the glass, head tilting to one side at that, "I f-f-hor-orget how long I've d-d-do-hon it." admitting. "L-lo-hong time." picking up the glass and nodding at it appreciably. "You?"

"A few years I guess. I am still not exactly sure why or how. It happened not long after an overnight hunt in Pripyat. " Which was the famous ghost town of the Chernobyl incident in the Ukraine. "It is...fascinating? But also somewhat unsettling."

"P-p-places like that... th-they ca-a-han..." he sighs and takes a breath, "Stress. Ca-ca-han cause it." frowning as he thinks, lifting his mug to take a long swallow now, considering his words. "I-hi't ca-han be though..." motioning around vaguely. "I-hin this t-t-town... it's tue-hoo-hoo-useday."

Kip couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Then it sounds like I'm in for an interesting stay." She mused. "This...abilitiy. It manifested during a different haunt but...I could feel the change. Like...feel it. Growing? Until it could not be contained anymore." She finished off her eggs and pushed the plate away a bit, pulling her coffee closer. "With how frequent you claim it to be here...are there many who can...do these similar things?"

"Too muh-m-many at times it ss-suh-seems. The-he-here's far mo-m-mu-more that c-c-can't... but it suh-heems like a l-lot more. B-u-hut we guh-get d-drawn t-gether it suh-seems." leaning his elbows on the counter in thought, "S-s-hom good, and b-bad. Bu-hut it's l-lu-hi-hii-hike that wi-wh-with everything I su-huh-pose." pushing the mug away and turning his attention, briefly back to Kip. "Ne-nu-need t-t-to be c-c-careful, t-t-too. Some... worse th-ha-han others."

Kip listened carefully as she nursed her coffee, making mental notes as she went. "That is interesting. I wonder why there is such a draw here..." She made a thoughtful sound, looking around and then back to Thewlis. "But yes, there is good and bad with all things. I will be as careful I can be and keep my eyes sharp." She nodded. "Is there anyone or anywhere in particular I should shy away from?"

At the wondering Thew frowns and looks over to Kip a little more earnestly. "D-d-d-you tru-hust m-me to... show y-you with..." he twirls a finger around, glimmer trailing behind it. His expression embarrassed to do such a thing it seems, at least almost.

Kip contemplated the offer for a moment. A little wary because, well, she wasn't really sure what he meant aside that it was with the strange magic. But finally, "Uh, sure. Go ahead."

There's a moment where he is halo'd by the glimmer he is drawing on. For just Kip and him to see an image of Gray Harbor appears over the counter, lifting and a darker, nastier, grimier version forming and then the two are almost merged together. Some areas outside of town just forest, and then places like the Asylum show in the darker version.

"Th-hih-hings are th-thinner here... It buh-bleeds through..." he frowns, "I don' know spu-specific names... buh-hut..." he motions to a place that looks like an old asylum appearing on the outskirts. "If yo-ou see th-that. Run."

Kip straightened up some, going still when those images started to come to her. Freezing a little like a deer in the headlights. A slow exhale and a shake of her head as if trying to focus on what Thewlis was saying and the images. Was that...the Other? She had only heard about it. Never truly witnessed it. Finally she nodded, "I will...run far away." She agreed, blinking some and refocusing on Thewlis. "That was..enlightening.."

"So-hom-hometimes... when y-you sleep... Or ot-th-thers... You get puh-hulled in... Dreams." he frowns and nods. "Buh-be-careful... Puh-people d-die in d-dreams." Thew finishes off his coffee, a little wired now but not stopping his refill coming.

Oh. Lovely. Kip looks around a little, as if second guessing if Gray Harbor was the smartest choice to stay. "How often do these Dreams happen? Or is it just on life's whim?" She asked, finishing off her coffee and setting it a top her empty plate. "Like th at one movie. I vaguely recall from many years back. Where if you die in a game you die in real life. They work the same then?"

There's a shift, and as he starts to speak there's no stutter, but his eyes look like they're looking somewhere else.

"Dreamscape, Dennis Quaid. A good descriptor to. You go into other people's dreams, but you don't control who's. If you die, you die for real. Scars, wounds... Some of us are able to take things back out of them. But it's rare."

So apparently trivia lets him talk.

Kip looked a little surprised when Thewlis started talking without the stutter. Interesting. "Dreamscape." She repeated. "I will try to look it up." Once she was settled in and all at least. "I am curious, admittedly, to see these things for myself. But I suppose it is something best left to come naturally? Don't...charge in to danger I think the saying is?"

"Muh-Minerva... She knows a lo-hot... I do-d-don't go looking. Buh-hut I can he-help if you go s-su-searching... Th-there's others... Muh-Meh-Minerva knows m-more." admitting, Thewlis drains half of the refreshed cup at a go. "Others... d-d-on't know if th-th-they'd be m-mad t-t-be outed."

Kip nodded at the information. "Minerva. I will keep my eye out for her and yes, best to keep things like that private. I am sure I'll be meeting more of them. Like you said - we are drawn to one another." She mused. "Now though, I should go back to my room rental. Get my things sorted out. It was nice to meet you Thewlis." As she took out her wallet to put some money down to pay for the breakfast.

Bobbing his head at that, Thew offers a weak, skittish, sort of smile. "Ni-hice to meet you t-t-to, Kapitsa" leaning on the counter still. "Muh-Movie how-ow-ouse is op-pen too. If y-need to fuh-find me. On muh-Maple." offering and then ducking at the apparent shame of self promotion.

"A movie house?" Kip raised a brow as she stood up and then smiled again. "I will certainly check it out. I do love a good movie now and again." She gathered up her book and purse. "I will see you around, I am sure." Giving a nod before heading out!
