Having just come off an overnight, Adam invited Jewellia out for am coffee before he crashed for part of the day. He met her at a local coffee house in the downtown area in street clothing, blue jeans and a black tee shirt with his shield attached to his belt. He parked and entered waving to those present before dropping into a booth to wait.
Jewelia had been hanging out with Surendra, a fellow artist she had seen online and contacts when she found out that the other woman lived in the same town as she did she invited the woman out for coffee. When her brother contacted her she texted him back that she was on the way and that had invited a friend to come along. Today Jewlia was dressed in dark-colored jeans, and one of her brother's hoodies that hung largely on her but was warm and comfortable. her curly hair was pulled back into a ponytail. Seeing her nrother she smiled waved bouncing cheerfully over to the booth, sliding in beside him to give him a warm hug. "Hi!"
Surendra had been surprised to be contacted by Jewellia, but pleased. It was always good to meet others in the art biz. They had met up, and she had shown the noobie around town a bit. Some of the more breathtaking sights a photographer would appreciate. Today she was wearing fitted jeans, practical boots, and a large, fluffy pink sweater, under her coat. She followed Jewellia over to the booth and gave Adam a bit of a wave. "Hi. I'm Surendra." She slid in opposite the siblings.
Adam hugs Jewellia back and chuckles lightly. "Really Jewels, you invited one of your model friends to have coffee with us after I work an overnight?" He shook his head then smiles to Surendra. "Hello Surendra, I am Adam, a pleasure to meet you. Now since I can her and she reached out to you, coffee is on me. No arguments or I will flag you for a traffic infraction." He chuckles lightly before sniffing the hoodie. "Is this mine? It smells like your perfume... You claimed it already?"
She laughed "Suri isn't a model I mean she could be one, and I would love to take pictures of her if she is up for that sort of thing, but she is actually a digital artist, her work is really good. "She m,ight have gone on but she stopped when he sniffed of her shoulder, turning her head to sniff of the same shoulder wondering if something had gotten spiled on the hoodie. "it is yours, it just looked so comfy and I figured you wouldn't mind me borrowing it. Is it your new one?"
She laughed at the model talk. "I wouldn't mind being photographed." Then, after Adam introduced himself and so kindly offered to buy coffee, "Hello, Adam. With that being the case, I suppose my only option is to say thank you." She smiled. She smirked a bit at the exchange over the hoodie. "Jewellia tells me you're both pretty new to town. How are you getting settled?"
"No it is not all that new, only the newest one in the "Ours" pile. It looks warmer on you than it does on me." He chuckles then looks to Suri. "I have had to learn quick since I actually drive patrols. But I have an awesome roommate who does not burn her pop tarts anymore and has yet to shrink anything in the wash. I might need a few more hoodies though." He laughs. "Thanks you for helping Jewels when she got here. Her first love is photos so for a place to stick with her so well, the help you gave is appreciated."
Jewelia smiled at her brother. "it is really warm." she pushed the sleeves up a little more only to have them fall down a bit over her hands again. When the waitress came over she ordered a ginger-apple tea, something she had noticed that was on the menu the last time she had been there and had really liked. At least she wasn't ordering the peppermint mocha still. "That was what we were doing when you called, Suri was showing me around a little more some of the other places I wanted to take pictures of. " She bapped him with one of the sleeves of his own hoodie. "I never burned my pop tarts, okay not never but not that often!"
"Oh, no problem, it's been fun. Have you had anyone show you around yet?" She smiled at Adam. When the waitress came over, she ordered a spiced chai, which was her usual. She chuckled a little about the poptarts. "I would say something about still eating poptarts, but I've been known to occasionally eat sugar cereal myself. Once in a blue moon." She smiled a little and brushed her hair back out of her face.
He orders a large black coffee with an espresso shot and thanks the waitress. "No just drive here, drive there. They offer inexpensive meals in some places so I learned those pretty quick." He laughs. "Oh and bars, cops know where all the bars are. The ones to go to on your free time and the ones you expect to spend your time at."
"Suri knows all the interesting places in town. I bet she wouldn't mind showing you around on one of your days off, Would you be willing Suri? Oh! That reminds me I also wanted to know if you would go tot he animal shelter to help me pick out a kitten." What one had to do with the other only made sense to Jewelia.
Suri nodded. "I know which one you mean. Though I don't go out to bars very much myself. I spend a lot of time on artwork, and writing." Then she nodded, "But yes, I wouldn't mind showing you around as I have for Jewellia. No problem." She glanced at Jewells confused a moment. "Who, me or him? Why do you want a kitten?"
"Here I will unravel the mystery, she means both of us but either or will still work. Why? Because she saw one she wants and wants to see if they have any at the shelter. I told her it would be just fine as long as she could take care of it while I work. Would be a pleasure to have you show me around, let me know if there is any place you want to go as well." HE smiles a bit more.
She smiled and pointed at Adam "What he said, but why wouldn't someone want a kitten? They are so tiny and cute little balls of purring fluff, of course, the cat I took pictures of was mostly hairless, and I want a fluffy one." she looked at Adam and stuck out her tongue. "At least I didn't ask for a puppy."
"Ah, I see." She said to both of them. "Well, yes, cats are cute. I get my fur-love quota helping take care of my parents' dog, Barker. He's a German Shepherd." She smiled. She smiled at them, and smirked a bit at Adam. "Somewhere I want to go, hm? I'll let you know."
"As Jewels loves to point out, in the code of service we swear to protect and to Serve. She doesn't use that to her advantage... too often." He laughs. "Come on I might be tired but I would be a fool to pass up a chance to take you anywhere."
She just smiled at both of them looking from one to the other. "Adam does have a pretty good idea of where to take people, and I am sure that with you being a local you know all the really cool places."
She laughed a little, and said. "I see you're your brother's wingman, Jewellia? Alright, I'll give you my number and we can talk about it." She smiled at Adam, waiting until her had phone or paper in hand before rattling off her digits. When their drinks were brought, she thanked the waitress and folded her fingers around the warm mug of chai. "Can't wait for it to warm up already."
"She is all that and more, my fan club." He grins and sips his drink after entering the number into his phone. "This was a much better idea then trying to steal it from her phone, she would not have just given it to me." He laughs.
"That's what little sisters are for right? besides annoying him and stealing his hoodies when he isn't looking." She wrapped her hands around her cup with a small sigh. "I agree with you Suri, it needs to just be warm already. It has been cold since I moved here! I want to see what this place is like in the spring and summer. "She took a small sip of her tes "Were either of you planning on going to the St Patricks day thing?"
She laughed and shot Adam a smirk. "Well, that's good to know." She looked at Jewellia, "I wouldn't get my hopes up too high... it's pretty wet in the warmer months. Wet, but still beautiful." She sipped her chai, then nodded. "I go every year. Even though I'm not the slightest bit Irish."
"Sadly I am working that day. I doubt I'll be far from there considering the possibility of a crowd." He chuckles. "Seattle was similar but she wants excuses to wear dressed and pretty things rather than pants. I swear mom and dad planted you outside in the summer."
She seemed to give what her brother said about her a bit of thought, and then smirked a bit "It would explain my bright and summy attitude, and what is wrong with wanting to wear dresses and other pretty things."She reached out and poked him in the shoulder with a finger "I am a girl after all."She looked at Suri and rolled her eyes a bit though she still looked amused. "That is great! I was supposed to meet a girl name Isolde there too, I am planning on putting green streaks in my hair, and taking my camera of course."
"Not far, but not able to just enjoy it either. A cop's life, I imagine." She sighed. The exchange between them got a smile out of her, and she sipped her chai and watched. "Isolde, hm? Not someone I know. Why would you want to but green streaks in your hair? What if it doesn't come out?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Because Jewels always goes all out and gives one hundred percent... and then asks for my help. Knowing her she will say it is her artistic style and something you wanted to do for spring, or at least until it can grow out and be cut." He sips his coffee rather amused.
She stuck her tongue out at both of them. "It is an artistic style, and celebration! besides there are such things as temporary dyes that just last a day or two. I was planning on using one of them unless I end up really liking how it looks then I will probably go and get it professionally done."She grinned. "Adam is right though ever since we were litle I am been the one that drags us into trouble and he is the one that hets us out of it. he has a really protective nature. That is probably the reason he decided to become a cop." she took another sip of her tea.
She held up her hands in surrender. "I doubt even permanent dyes would make much of a difference in my hair without bleaching first, which is why I have no experience with them." She said with a shrug. She smirked a bit at Jewellia, "You, get into trouble? I would never have thought so." Then she smiled. "You are lucky to have each other."
"I love my.little trouble magnet. That much is true." He laughs. Observing the smirk he grins. "Now has Jewels gotten you in trouble or trouble with you before. Hmm I wondering."
"I am not gotten Suri into any trouble." There was an unspoken yet hanging off the end of that sentence. "But if she is going to be at the St Patricks day celebration I am sure there will be things e can find to het into. I here there is going to be a live band, and also a green beer chugging contest. Public intoxication?" she grinned at Suri.
She feigned surprise at both of them. "Me? Get into trouble? Never." She smiled at Jewellia, "Yes, well, it's the band I am looking forward to."
"Right, double trouble. Remind me to put fresh sheets on the bed before work since I doubt either of you will be up to driving. We have a second bedroom Suri which you may or may not already know." He shakes his head still rather amused as he sips his coffee.
She couldn't help but laugh as Suri gave them both an innocent look, and then looked back at her brother. "She knows she is the one that helped me move all of the extra junk into my room ro make room for you, which is part of the reason I wanted you two to meet. Also, I thought you would get along. You work all the time, so I decided to make a couple of friends for you. I almost met a paramedic named Devlin that seemed really nice. I didn't give him your number though."
Suri nodded, pointing at Jewellia. "As she says," she said, in regards to knowing their apartments' layout. "I haven't seen it since then, though." She refrained from saying anything about her own ability to drive, because she knew he was probably right.
"So she helped you move everything and you have not invited her for a home cooked meal as a thank you, wow sister dear wow." He friend to keep a straight face but started laughed. "And how do you almost meet someone, after they get introduced say sorry I do not have time for you today?" He smiles.
"No I haven't invited her over for a home-cooked meal, I figured we would take her out somewhere so that she didn't have to suffer my cooking mac-n- cheese or tater-tot casserole."She stuck her tongue out a bit at her brother. She sighed and waded up a napkin throwing it at Adam playfully. "He was having coffee with a group of his friends and they invited me over because i was the new girl, so all I know about him is that his name is Devlin and that he is a paramedic that used to be military." She looked at Suri "See I told you he was adorable but a pain in the neck."
Suri smiled. "It wasn't a home-cooked meal but we did order a pizza afterwards. She can really pack away pizza." She glanced at Jewellia, then back to Adam. "I'm sure you knew that." She watched as her friend was teased mercilessly by her own brother, trying not to laugh. "I think that's just meeting someone, no need for an 'almost'."
"See even Suri agrees. Now we could say Suri and I almost met since we living in the same place and had not met. Yes, pizza, pasta, our very own Italian stallion." He chuckles. "But my next day off please join us for a meal. I will cook something." He smiles but is rather serious when he looks to Suri.
"I am not an Itallion Stallon, I am not a boy, you think you would know that considering at am you sister, not your brother."She rolled her eyes a little but was still smiling. "You really should join us for diner, Adam is a much better cook then I am. and it is nice to have dinner with friends."
Sure smiles at Adam, and then at Jewellia as she adds in her bit to convince her. "I'd love to join you for a meal. As long as you two will come upstairs to have one with me." She looks from one to the other. "I promise I'm a better cook than Jewellia." She laughed.
He laughed. "Deal and I think my first opportunity to feed you is breakfast after you two get in from the Irish event." He grins then looked to Jewellia. "Sis I am rather well aware of the fact that you are indeed a female of the species." He chuckles.
"Deal!" she said at the same time as her brother. and the pouted a little. "Man now you two are ganging up on me about my cooking, maybe I should take a class or something, and breakfast after the Irish even would be fantastic!" she grinned at both of them, rolling her eyes at her brother, flashing him a teasing smile. You can see Suri's artwork as well. Suri that reminds me have you met the owner of the video game shop, Abitha? I mentioned your artwork to her and she says that she and the owners of the comic book shop would be interested in meeting you too."
"That would be just fine," she smiles at him about breakfast. After Jewellia mentioned mentioning her to the video game store owner, she blinked at her a couple times. "Well, I guess you're just everyone's wingman. Or, everyone you like anyway. No, I've never been there- tend to get my games as PC downloads, I'm afraid. But, I'll have to stop in now."
"Well now that I have your number, you can call me anytime. Should you feel creeped out anywhere." He sips then looks to both Jewels and Suri. "What, it's been one of Jewellia's habits, having a brother on the force." He smiles. "Yes, she likes connecting people, even plumbers." He slide back expecting to get hit.
"Telling people I meet that I have an old brother who is a cop tend to keep the more creepy people away it is true, and wel what are older brothers for if you can't call them because something freaked you out?" When Adam mentioned the plumber she balls up a little fist and started to hit him in the shoulder, then just stuck her tongue at him. "I met the plumber because Adam was ready to take apart the second bathroom for a problem a simple tool fixed., so I am really lucky I ran into the handyman, besides it isn't my fault the plumber was really hot."
"Well, once you send me your number I can," She said softly to Adam. She listens to their back and forth, grinning at them. "Did you ask him over again? Or better yet, did you get lucky? He's probably married, you know."
He laughs and rings Suri's phone before hanging up. "I swear, plumbers get all the attention unless I am in uniform." He chuckles. "It is a good thing he prevented us from needing his help. I almost thought he gave you the wrong thing."
"I haven't asked him over yet. I just ran into him last night, I am strongly considering it though. he is really tall, dark-haired, lots of muscles."She gave a dreamy sort of sigh. and then laughed when Suri said he was probably married. "I didn't see a ring, and from some of the innuendo he was throwing around I doubt it. She rolled her eyes at her brother. "you get plenty of attention."
Suri took out her phone and added Adam as a contact. Don't worry, as professions go, cops are far more attractive than plumbers." She gave him a wink. "Sounds like an atypical plumber, then. And just because he flirted and talked dirty doesn't mean he's not married. Neither does not seeing a ring. But, anyway, if you want some you should get some."
"I told her anyone would be lucky to have her. That's all her brother will say on that topic other than la la la not listening." He laughed then sipped once more. "Glad you prefer cops Suri, very glad indeed." He grins.
Jewellia grinned when Suri mentioned that cops were more interesting plumbers. "One for your side Adam, besides you, are cuter, but well you are also my brother. She giggled a little, " of trust me I think calling the plumber is totally on my to-do list. maybe I will get Adam to loosen a pipe or something before he goes to work so I have a reason to call."
She chuckled. "Good for you, girl." She said, and raised her chai a moment before taking a drink. She smiled at Adam. "She's so cute when she talks you up like that. I'm sure you are glad to hear it. I'm looking forward to seeing you in uniform on St Patrick's Day."
"Just remember to be happy to see me not to see three of me. If you two are drinking just call. My truck will be at the station so I do not need to pick you up in a squad car." He laughs. "Then I'll tuck you in so you can sleep it off and we can have pancakes in the morning." As Adam was looking between Jewels and Suri he likely meant both of them.
"if I start seeing three of anyone I will make sure to give you a call or have Suri give you a call because I am not sure I could use my phone at that point even if I do have you on speed dial. My goal is to get buzzed but not that drunk. Still, the idea of being tucked into bed with Suri does have some appeal."She grinned at the other girl hoping that she took the flirt well and didn't run off screaming in the other direction or something. Well, there are two beds, you could always tuck her into your bed."
"I'll make sure we call before either of us are seeing in multiples." She assures Adam. "I'm not planning on getting smashed either, but the best laid plans of mice and men, they say." She did look a little amused at the flirt from Jewellia, but didn't take it badly at all. "Hm, well Jewellia, you do look nice to cuddle. Could be your brother's hoodie though." She laughed.
"Two for one trip, means I can get to bed sooner, bonus." He grins. "Well I'm sure you teo will be in a cuddling modd since her blankets are so warm. At least I do not have to worry about you warning in the night Suri, it's the same lay out as your apartment afterall."
She laughed. "it is probably the hoodie, it is pretty snuggly."She wrapped her arms around herself for a moment as if giving herself a hug. it is nice and warm and has this fuzzy inside. As for me, well I love to cuddle."She chuckled. "That's a good thing about her being out upstairs neighbor too, We can go together then you only have to worry about picking up one car later, and if Suri wants to go home after having pancakes all she has to do is climb one flight of stairs!"
He would have love to stay with the two longer but even the coffee was wearing off. "Ok Ladies before I pass out here at the table I am going to head home. Suri it was a pleasure to meet you and I will likely see you sometime tomorrow night. Jewels I will catch up with you when I wake up. I'll go pay the check." He leans over giving Jewellia a hug then a kiss on her forehead before heading up to pay then out to his turck.
