Having spent some of the earlier part of the day doing an errand, Jonathan steps back inside, looking around for a few moments as he steps into the entry. "Hey, I'm home," he calls out, a bit lightly.

The setup of the office has Katy's desktop rig on the left side of the room when first entering, and Jonathan's on the right side. Katy is sitting at her computer when Jonathan calls out, and she leaves the office to greet him. "Hey, sweetheart," she says, meeting him and giving him a kiss.

Jonathan's smile widens as she heads out to greet him, kissing her in return, before he smiles. "Work's been going well, I hope?" he asks, with a smile.

"It's productive, at least. I have a fresh set of code for approval, ready to go. I have a presentation in Seattle in a couple of days," Katy reports with a proud smile on her face. "Yeah I couldn't get away with telecommuting. The clients wanted to meet me."

Jonathan grins as he hears that. "Thankfully, Seattle isn't that far, right?" There's another grin offered, before he adds, "And of course they'd want you to meet them."

"Yeah, I'll be gone for a few hours, no big deal." Katy smiles at Jonathan and adds, "But enough about work. What's for dinner?"

"Let's just hope you have good driving conditions," Jonathan replies, before he smiles. "Dinner. Let's see, I was thinking something relatively simple today, since I wasn't sure how long I'd be gone for." It's offered relatively quietly as he smiles. "Ever tried the Scandinavian course called 'Pyttipanna'? I mean, it's mostly just some ingredients chopped up and mixed together, but it still tastes rather well, and it's simple to get together."

"That sounds lovely, babe." Katy replies with a grin, "Need help in the kitchen?"

Jonathan smiles, "It's basically just cutting up some onions, meat and potatoes, but sure. You know I always enjoy it when we cook together," he replies.

Joining Jonathan in the kitchen, Katy leans against the counter, waiting for instructions. "So, we're actually going to do this. We're going to get married." She chuckles and then lets it fade off as she realises that she would likely have to start talking to her family.

"It's amazing, isn't it?" Jonathan replies as he watches her for a few moments. Studying her with a smile on his face, quietly.

"So...who do we tell first?" The question hangs in the air and Katy is hoping Jonathan won't say her family.

Jonathan smiles, "Who do you think we should tell first?" He watches her for a few moments longer, before he reaches into his pocket for a few moments. "I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if my family already knows, even though I haven't told them."

"I was hoping you'd say your family, but I'm okay with things being under wraps for as long as we can keep it quiet. It's easy since I don't have a ring," Katy teased, but then she says, "You know I don't care about that."

"Like I said, they probably figure it out rather quickly," Jonathan replies, before he pauses for a few moments at the mention of her not having a ring. "I know..." he replies, offering her another smile. "So, shall we get started on the food? If you can get some potatoes, onion and some beefo from the fridge, I'll get the pans and knives and such ready?" Of course, this'll cause him to pass right by where she's been standing right now.

Katy immediately does exactly what is asked of her, and it takes her a bit of extra time in the fridge because she's also looking to grab a can of orange soda for herself. She's been craving a little bit of sugar.

Jonathan takes a few moments to retrieve a small box from his pocket and place it where Katy was standing, before he gets out the knives, cutting boards and a pan, placing them in place so they can both dice the ingredients and drop them into the pan.

Settling the can of orange soda on the counter, she brings the ingredients over to Jonathan at the counter. She's about to turn to where she left her drink when she notices the box and picks it up, her eyes on Jonathan the entire time.

Hasn't Jonathan noticed that she noticed the box? If he has, he is at least trying to pretend he hasn't, since he's readied some of that beef to dice now. He hasn't begun dicing it yet, though.

When Katy picks up the box, she feels it out, reading the anticipation and optimism imprinted on it as she opens it, revealing a silver ring, looking like two wires twisted together. It was simple yet elegant. She lets out an audible gasp. "Wait...when did you do this?"

"Hmmm?" Still pretending to be focused on the ingredients in front of him, Jonathan looks up. "Oh, that..." It's said a bit lightly as he studies her for now. "Ah, you know..."

"Don't play dumb with me, Jonathan!" Katy scolds him playfully, her eyes still on the ring. "It's beautiful..."

Jonathan smiles as he hears that, unable to hold back a bit of a chuckle. "I'm glad you think so," he replies, to the part about the ring being beautiful. "When I looked at rings, that one looked so nice. Elegant in simplicity." A brief pause, before he adds, "So, I guess what you said before about not having a ring isn't quite right anymore." It's offered with a smile.

Katy offers Jonathan the box. "Do you want to put it on me?" she asks with a bright smile.

Jonathan smiles, "Of course," he replies, taking the box as it's offered, and taking the ring out of the box. Reaching for her hand, he holds it in his for a few moments, before slowly and gently placing the ring on her finger. "It looks even better now," he offers.

"Perfect." Katy leans in and gives Jonathan a passionate kiss.

Jonathan nods a bit, looking about to reply when he's kissed passionately. "Mmhmmm..." is all he gets out before he kisses her back, arms moving to pull her closer.

When they pull away, Katy points out, "We should finish prepping for dinner, babe."

Jonathan nods, after a few moments of pause. "If you dice the potatoes, I'll take care of the beef and onions. We just dump it into the pan when it's done."
