Text

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : [picture of a mimosa on a tray] Just destroyed breakfast in bed. Not the best hangover cure. But I’ll take it.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I could definitely recommend far more valid options, but as long as your brain doesn't feel like it's fighting its way out of your skull, and the fact that you aren't purging from last night, I suppose that still counts.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : How are you? Besides, you know, the hangover.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : Fucking wonderful. Any tips on how to out asshole Easton Marshall?

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Out? What do you mean?

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : I mean, be a bigger asshole than he is. I was thinking of threatening to ruin his life. But the only thing I have over him is this casino deal. I don’t actually want to mess with that. Or ruin his relationship because I am not Actually An Asshole. Any ideas?

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I'll assume that you know that he was a marine, right? I'm not sure if it's a good idea to push him off kilter.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I don't want to come off as nosy, but what did he do exactly?

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : He has a problem with me being in town and has no problem telling me about it and trying to drive me out of town, and for whatever reason, he seems to be having issues seeing me with someone new. And yet has no issue sucking face in front of everyone in public.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : He's trying to drive you out of to...

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Is he telling you how dangerous Gray Harbor is? Is that what he's doing?

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : Yeah, like I’m supposed to believe he cares.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Why wouldn't he care? I'm going to come out and be truthful: Gray Harbor is a pretty messed up town.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : I know. I’ve been told, not just by Easton. But I’ve made a fresh start here. And it’s not about him anymore. If me being here bothers him, that’s too bad. I have the work I’m doing for you and I have a new love.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I think a situation that I'm involved in right now might have played a hand in Marshall's not wanting you to stay. My girlfriend at the time, it was an on-again, off-again thing over the years. Anyway, she showed up here last year some time. Now no one knows where she is.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Not her family, who has contacted me in a desperate search for her. we're currently trying to find her whereabouts.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : The only thing he’s likely to feel is guilt. God, these mimosas add up!

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Guilt is probably a huge factor, yes. There are people in town who will insist on telling new arrivals that they should leave.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Only because of what we know that happens here.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : Oh shiiiiit. Does anyone know what happened to her? Your ex I mean?

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : I mean, like do you guys have any leads on her whole situation?

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : We're looking into it. I've been asking her neighbors, both at her place of business and the new house that she'd bought. Other than that, she was new to town, so aside from those I'd introduced her to and some of her own patients, she didn't know a lot of people here.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : So far, nothing's come up. But you know that guilt thing? Despite what happened to my relationship with her, I feel a hell of a lot of guilt that she only came out here because of me.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : The difference with me is that I didn’t come here for him. I didn’t have a choice, the firm sent me to deal with Felix’s accounts.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Yeah, I understand that. But if something happens to you, Marshall's more than likely going to feel like shit. Now, that's not a reason for you to leave. And I don't want to make it one.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Some question my desire to bring people to this town. Whether it's the casino or finding people to rent apartments in my building.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : This might be Gray Harbor shrouded in all its mysteries and danger, but there are still people who reside here who need to make a living.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : Right. And that’s why I like working with you. And why I want to keep working with you. Your heart’s in the right place about all that.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : For now, I'll just say 1. Be Vigilant. For your sake if not for Marshall's guilt. 2. We're all in this together, business-wise. If you try to ruin Marshall's reputation now, I don't know what impact that would have on the professional side of things.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Just so that we're clear, you do know what dangers GH poses?

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : You and I both know I was never going to go after Easton. I want this deal to go through, a) because you’re my client and b) I’m not that petty.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : I’ve been warned that Bad Things happen, especially to those with... Special Gifts. I’ve been warned to avoid using mine.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I knew you had a good head on your shoulder. But, right. That's what draws the Dark Men, so I've heard them referenced as, to you. If you need more information about that, I hear there's a support group or something.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I also know a guy, but he might be a bit off-putting. In fact, he's a P.I. who wanted information and tips on how to better take notice of financial intricacies and discrepancies in white collar crimes, of all things.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : I may have brought up that rather than to myself, he might want to speak to a lawyer on that, so... if you have any free time, I could pay a little extra to just get him out of my hair with questions.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : I’ll put it on my list of things to do...tomorrow. Today, I am cancelling Wednesday. Did you need anything else from me?

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Haha. No rush at all. That was just a warning in the case you get an odd call or text out of the blue. The guy's name is Alexander Clayton.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : But no, you just enjoy your Wednesday and your Mimosas. As long as you stave away the migraines.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : If I didn't have a conference call coming up in a few, I might go for mimosas myself.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : We should have them for our next business meeting. Might help take the edge off. I have to find a way to make the situation workable with Easton. He seems to believe I’m out to get him. Which I’m not.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : Alcohol is often a deal maker. Or breaker. I've yet to decide. If you don't mind, I can speak to Marshall. The cat's already out of the bag that you both knew each other prior to what should've been an introductory meeting.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : I mean, I don’t want him to think I sent you or anything like that. He doesn’t seem to respond well to me even being in the same room as him so I don’t know how he’d feel if he thought I sent you to talk to him.

(TXT to Katherine) Byron : He won't know. We need to talk anyway, me and him. So don't worry about that. Just casual conversation.

(TXT to Byron) Katherine : Let me know if you can offer any insight. I just wish he’d understand that no matter how many times he says I’m too good for him, it doesn’t make up for a damn thing.
