2020-03-23 - We had a dream

Jewellia had woken up early to the cry of kittens. When her brother got home she was sitting on the plush couch, dressed in a pair of yoga pants and an oversized teeshirt. Both kittens asleep in her lap, and her head resting on the back of the couch. As Adam came into the apartment she lifted her head, looking at him with a smile. it looked as if she were still tired as if she might have slept badly. "Hi, big brother. How did your shift go?"

Adam had been dragging ass at work but with enough coffee masked it the the best of his ability. Walking in from a long shift, he was finally able to relax. He made sure the door was locked before removing his gun and heading to secure it in the safe. "Hey sweetie, another day with less bad guys making trouble. How have these two been behaving?" Adam can't help but notice the fatigue on his little sibling, even though she is just getting her day started.

"The kittens are being adorable, they were playing and chasing one another tails earlier, it was so cute." She couldn't help but smile when she talked about the mittens, even with as tired as she looked. She looked at him for a long moment and then set up a little more, her expression concerned. " you look as tired as I feel. "She paused." Bad dreams?" her tone was a knowing one.

"I can't help but remember that place, the feeling of helplessness when you were frozen. The fact that I could not break the window, only see the darkness outside." Adam shakes his head. "You too, stuck reliving most of it?" He came and sat beside Jewellia, now that his weapon was secure and leaned back into the couch.

"I remember feeling ... it was almost as if I was feeling what the house was feeling the sense of despair."She shuddered. " you were frozen too, so was this strange man. In the dream, i thought he was our uncle, but we don't have an uncle..." she shuddered, reaching out to pet one f the kitten for comfort before moving both of them out of her lap, and laying them down in a large pet bed. Moving closer to her brother.

Adam held his sibling close trying to get a sense of things, maybe if she could feel the house, was he able to feel her? He drapes an arm around Jewels as he closes his eyes and tries to feel something... there.

Jewellia was tired, scared and more than a little confused. As he held her close the fear started to subside. She sighed and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"I can feel your fear..." Adam whisper, as though he could not believe he voiced those thoughts. How was that possible? It did not make any sense? But he was certain that this is what he felt.

"Feel my fear?" She blinked lifting her head so that she could look at her brother meeting his eyes. Whatever he was feeling she couldn't tell, and just frowned slightly. "I think something happens to people, happens to things in this town. I ran into two girls in the library who were talking about all the strange things that go on here." She paused. "You shine, it is something I never noticed before that dream, but you aren't the only one in town who does. I don't know what is going on."

"You do as well, Little sister. I could feel you reaching out." Adam smiles, well at least they were not going crazy and they were in this together. "As for the ladies of the town, do not get yourself in trouble Missy! I swear if someone tries to commit you I will lose my cool quickly." He laughs and hugs her. "Much like everything else, we are in this together, Sister Dear."

"I did reach out but I couldn't feel anything from you." she wrapped around his waist and hugged him tightly, and then rolled her eyes. "I didn't tell either girl what I was feeling or anything just that I had a bad dream. One of them was looking into this mysterious company that she couldn't find anything about, and the other was just tracking the odd things that seem to go on around here." She frowned a little. "I think, as a cop, you are more likely t get into trouble then I am! I did give both of them my number. I think if that dream did something to us, or this town is doing something to us we should try and find out more about it."

Adam laughed. "I agree Jewels, and maybe I could use some time to get into trouble. We both know I am only so good for so long." He stuck his tongue out at her and laughed. "I will keep you posted on anything I can find out, okay?"

"Okay, Fair and I will do the same. I think in the meantime we can use one another to practice these new abilities we seem to find ourselves with, like feeling emotions, what other sorts of things can we do. I think it is safest to practice o one another." She stands and stretches. I am going to make breakfast and coffee, so you want some, or are you ready to just fall into bed, and get some sleep?"

"I am thinking sleep is calling me. Feel free to come in and nap if it makes you feel safer. We got through that last nightmare together." Adam smiles as he stands and kisses Jewellia on her forehead before giving her a warm hug. He yawns as he releases her and heads down the hall to bed.

She returned his warm hug and smiled at him "That's because if we are together we can make it through anything. Sleep well big brother."
