Isolde rounded the corner of the Pourhouse and leaned up against the side, drawing in a ragged breath. Same alley that she and Alexander at burst in to all those months ago during the bar fight. A strangled laugh turned into a sob as she buried her hands in her face.
It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair at all. But. It was for the best, wasn't it? That's what she said. What she'd told Itzhak. It would be better for both of them, because he couldn't constantly be worrying about her and she couldn't keep getting upset at him for treating her like she was a porcelain doll.
But it hurt. It hurt so fucking much to see him in person. To see him so happy. Even though she was glad he was happy. He had so many people to keep him up. And that was a good thing. She could vaguely make out the sound of his voice as he crooned Come on Eileen on the Karaoke stage.
Isolde stood there for a few extra minutes, trying to calm her tears. When she succeeded in pulling herself together, she headed up towards Sycamore and her little A-Frame house. What she really wanted -what she felt like she needed - was her pills and it took all kinds of willpower to not head to the parts of town that she knew would have them.
Finally at home, Isolde curled up on the couch with Mr. Frog and Disney Channel. She knew she was going to have to actually talk to Itzhak at some point. Face to face. But she didn't even know what there would be to say. So for now, mindless TV with her favorite, giant stuffed frog, would have to do.
