Kailey's door is not open. Usually when it isn't open Everett's inside. Or she is playing music loudly. But that is neither the case at the moment. What is evident is there is some giggling going on inside. Something falls over, spilling some wooden contents on the floor by the sound. "Woops! Let's not get up there," Can be heard from Kailey inside.
Walking past at the moment, Everett pauses, his leather jacket hanging on his elbows. At first, he's curious. And then he cants his head at the sound of the crash and turns his head to make sure Bean's door stays closed and the crash hasn't wakened her. A few foot steps outside creeks floorboards while he moves over to Kailey's door while he puts his hear to the door and smiles. His thoughts appear and exit the usual way, "She bring someone over and gettin' freaky?"
"C'mere you," Kailey can be heard to say. There's another clunk followed by the sounds of whatever spilled being picked up. A clever person might figure out it was her cup of painting brushes. The soft sound of her walking around can be heard and then the doorknob is turning as she says, "Let's go see if we have some tuna. Okay? Pretty sure I got soOOOh! Hi Ev!" Kailey jumps back startled as the door opens on him. She is wearing her hoodie at the moment. It is partly unzipped and a very small furry face with bright blue eyes if peeking out. Fluffy as can be the kitten's face is half black, half orange, with a white chin. And probably further markings. Her ears reverse the black and orange trend of her furry cheeks. "Mew?"
The door opens and Everett snaps to, standing erect to look up at. Uh. At. Um, door frame. Oh wow, look at that doorframe. He traces a thumb along the wood, his jacket slipping over his shoulders. The act TOTALLY buyable, he looks down and is completely surprised to see Kailey there, exiting her own bedroom.
"Oh! Hey." He looks over her shoulder, to peer into the bedroom, his surprise melting away to further curiosity, before looking down both to Kailey and the calico that meows. He smiles from the right side of his mouth, "I knew it," he murmurs, lifting a crooked forefinger to the kitten to smell. "You brought something delicious over and were getting time with her alone. In your bedroom." With a higher tone, he murmurs, "Hey you," while he offers to nuzzle the cat on the chin with his knuckle.
Kailey's expression is frozen in a mildly worried smile. But it melts when Everett smiles into a grin. "I heard her crying in the backyard at 5 am," Why was Kailey awake at 5am? Giving that her room smells of fresh paint there may be an easy explanation. "Filthy and shivering. I finally got her warmed up that she wanted to explore. So figure I can try feeding her now," She continues as she watches the kitten sniff at Everett's finger. Then, louder, she "MEOW!"
Watching the kitten, Everett sighs heavily but while smiling. "You're one of those people aren't you? Ok," he says, already resigned, "let's see if there isn't something downstairs. She looks young. And I'm not scooping boxes," he adds, pointing a finger at Kailey. The finger returns to petting the kitten while the gorilla smiles. He's such a sucker for a pretty girl. "If not I can go to work and get something dairy-ish. How old do you think she is? God. I wonder if she's weened or if she's going to need kitten formula. One of my sisters used to bring home all the abandoned and not-so abandoned animals home too."
Kailey raises a brow, "One of those people?" She asks with a giggle as she begins to head downstairs with him. The kitten decides that she doesn't want to be in the jacket. Too much to see. So she squirms out and into Kailey's hood. "Ack, what are you...you gonna stay put? Okay..." Kailey is a little surprised at first, but when the kit stays she keeps walking, albeit a little more carefully.
"I...don't know. We could take her to the vet. I was planning to look and see what there was available. I was watching youtube videos and this one chick, The Kitten Lady, has some great stuff. You can tell how old they are by their teeth. So, she should be able to eat wet food? But she also said, the Kitten Lady, that some kittens need to wean from a slurry thing of formula and wet food," She chatters as they walk, tone chipper. "I was waiting till the pet store opened. Get a box and proper food and such." Turning slowly to look at him the kitten bats at one of her braids. Getting her tiny claws tangled in Kailey's hair. "Eep!"
"The Kitten Lady, huh?" Everett says, tucking his fingers into his jacket pockets. He only just got healed from Queso, and isn't looking forward to having this terror ruin his fingers. "Sounds like you did some research. Is this something you did before or after seeing Queso at the gallery? 'Cuz," and he starts to sound dubious, "It seems like some awfully close timing for you to suddenly," his hands come out of his pockets while he follows Kailey. One hand uses the banister, the other, to use air quotes, "'find' this cat. And did you ask Lillian? Maybe she wants to get a kitten chewing dog. Maybe I want a pitbull." He raises his left eyebrow at her back while following her. "I'm not saying no. I'm just saying... taking care of a cat is a big responsibility. Are you ready for that?" he asks the pregnant woman.
Like he's forgotten what he did to her.
Kailey is disentangling a kitten from her hair. And being playfully bitten in the process. "Ow, hey, ow, stopit," She tells the kitten, brining her around to carry again in her arms. As they enter the kitchen she says, a little huffily, "I -know- it's close timing. But I only found her," She glances at the microwave, "Three hours ago. I swear. And I've spent that time warming her up and watching cat videos. Notice I have no actual supplies." And she reaches to pull a can of tuna out of the cupboard. Shooting Everett an annoyed look, "If Lil isn't cool with a cat I'll keep her in my room till she can go to a shelter or rescue or whatever. But she -is- too young right now. Only be a couple of weeks," She shrugs her shoulders and then realizes she will have difficulty opening the can with cat. "Here," And she hands the kitten off to the big man. Turning she gets out a small plate, grabs a fork, and opens the can.
He's been amused this whole time. Even during his cautionary warnings and stops at the kitchen while she gets a can of tuna. His smile only widens with the look she throws him. Get used to that. He puts his hands up, offering a defensive gesture, "I'm just saying. If Bean turns out to be allergic, that'll be sad, especially if you get attached."
Offered the kitten, he gets into the kitchen and accepts the squirming mess, and cradles her into his left arm, while with his right he pinches a collection of his long raven hair. With it, he drops the hair in the kittens face, and then rubs it back and forth not unlike a paintbrush. Yeah, he's had cat spit in his hair before.
"Do you have a name for her yet," he asks, waiting until the can is open before pulling his hair back. Then covering kitten face. Then pulling back. Yeah, that'll calm her down.
The smell of tuna begins to pervade the kitchen and the kitten squirms with interest. "A name?" She seems to think about that. She takes a bite of the tuna and then pours some of the liquid out into the shall dish. She quickly mashes it up into smaller pieces. "I don't know. I mean...Flerken?" She giggles at the thought before reaching to take her back.
The kitten bats some more at that hair before she is pulled away by a lady smelling of...something good. That nose and those whiskers start twitching. And she starts making these chattering chirping mewls, trying to find the source with her nose.
Kailey sets her on the counter by the dish and that nose dives instantly into it. When she reaches out to pet her the kitten growls and slaps it's paw into the bowl. "Oho! Yup. Flerken." The growling ceases as Kailey leans back and look at Everett with amusement. "I'm used to getting attached and then suddenly having to let go. Foster kid, remember?"
"I remember, but," Everett starts to say, while he watches the kitten. There's trepidation. "It's not like I was one. I don't know what it means." Now that they're free of the furry ball of fur, Everett comes behind Kailey, and hooks his big thumbs into the loops of her bottoms while he looks over her shoulder, pressing his chest to her back. "She's hungry. I guess I should go to the store and pick up cat food. Kitten food? We can't give her tuna everyday." He leans his head against the side of Kailey's there's no argument about the kittens name. He's got no idea what it means. But the trepidation continues to a head until he asks, "Sssshould we be feeding her on the counter?"
Kailey leans back against Everett as he comes up. "Mmmm...true. Just like I've no clue what it's like to grow up in an actual family that doesn't change every year or two," She says. When his chin rests on her shoulder she turns to peck his cheek. "Kitten food. Wet and dry. I'll need an automated litter box. Cause apparently I'm not supposed to scoop poop? And wheat litter. Oh hell, I should just go with you," She says before trailing off. "Ummm, I'll clean them later. She's fine. It's fine." The kitten is done with what Kailey put out and so she goes to scoop out more. She winds up just dropping the can because Flerken leaps upon her hands with more growling. "Ow!" She pulls her hand back, but it's clear little claw sunk deep into a knuckle. "I think she likes tuna."
By the time she gets to wheat litter, Everett gets that look on his face that makes it seem questionable he's going to arrive back home with anything other than beer and beef jerky. So when she offers to come with, Everett rolls his eyes, and smirks. "I guess you don't trust that I can get a simple grocery list." And a good call too. He scoffs and pulls back a little, releasing her belt loop with his left hand to give her behind a sudden, but gentle smack. When Flerken gets a little wild, Everett makes a sound of disapproval in his throat and grimaces. "I guess she's just hungry and doesn't know her place yet," Sliding to the side, Everett pets the kitten along her back, even if it draws threatening growls. "Calm down Fler, just teaching you its ok to be touched."
Kailey brings her knuckle to her lips briefly. "MmmmMmmm. Not one bit. You've not been watching the videos with me," She says with a chuckle. "Groceries are one thing. This? But more...detailed," Kailey leans against the counter. Flerken devours tuna. Almost inhaling it. Between gnawing she does growl as Everett pets her, but she doesn't swipe at him. Just warning as she eats. "The petsmart opens in half an hour. So we can stop by that French bakery and I can grab some croissants for me. And baby." She grins impishly as she pats her belly.
"There's a problem," Everett says, looking up from watching the kitten while he pets. "I won't know which you're talking about if you only say 'baby'." A couple of mores before he turns his back on the kitten, to address Kailey. A finger is hooked on her again and with it, pulls her to him. "You've done all kinds of research, and everything. My sister just brought them home until Mom put her foot down. But I'll watch the videos with you," he nods towards the living room. "But I was going to work for a bit. So if you want to go to that stupid French bakery place with that pretentious, haughty guy while I take care of business and pick you up there? I don't mind that."
Kailey raises a brow and looks horribly amused for a moment. "Pretentious and haughty huh? I have to say I don't know him. Like, at all. But if he's a French chef? That adds up," She says and shrugs. "I like good pastry, what can I say? And have you -tried- the ham and cheese croissant?" That said she goes up on tiptoes to kiss him. "I may just take the bike and hit the pet store and bakery. I've got a box with some shredded paper, but all she wants to do is play in it so far. What time will you be done do you think?" A pause, "And will you bring back some mozzy sticks?"
"I don't think he's got any French in him other, other than many some Champaign." Pantomiming drinking, Everett tilts his head back and goes overboard with it. Not just tilting his head back a little to pretend he's taking from a bottle, but arching his spine to make sure that air-bottle has been completely drained and, when it is drained, shook. Shook into his open mouth. And then tapped, just to make sure that the last pretend drop has been taken. To complete his little play, Everett throws the pretend bottle over his shoulder and begins to sway wildly from side to side with a light roll of his eyes
Just like Vyv, the drunken lush.
And he would have gone on with the show too, but he gets a peck. "He probably orders them from McDonalds," Everett says about the croissants, pouting unseriously. "And he cheats while driving on dessert tracks. I'm not sure how," Everett points to the sky, "but mark my words. I'll find out how he does it." And then take his power for my own. "You can bike, if you want, but I'm not going to be long. Sticks and chocolate covered marshmallows?" he asks.
Kailey rolls her eyes as Ev pantomimes. He may get a light swat to the belly too. "The exercise will be good for me. And it's a clear day out. You can pick me up at the bakery and we'll go to the pet store together," She turns as the kitten sits back, licking her chops. That can? It is CLEANED OUT. "Huh...so...this dessert racing thing is a common occurance? Cause...uh...I wound up briefly on one. But my bird went straight up and I woke up in the van bed."
"Bird?" Everett's curious and smiling about that. "Naw, usually we have cars. Mine is always the fastest but then somehow he cheats and wins and I end up in third place. Or as Dad used to say, 'The loser's loser,'" He reaches out and takes Kailey's belly swatting hand with his hand, thumb gently stroking. "Where am I going to put your bicycle? I guess we'll think of something. Who else was in that with you and," he up nods, "I guess your sense of taste is back? I wouldn't say it's common, but there was aaa. Shit. Two of them." He's got trouble thinking of the themes. "Valentine's and something lease. Christmas? I don't remember."
"Huh. Cool. Well everyone had various birds and stuff. It was...weird. And then a duck got loose and scared all the birds. Mine included. I...mmm...Byron was there. And...oh, well, the baker guy," Because Kailey actually doesn't know his name. Funny that. "Hmmm. And yeah, it was only there for about a week. Thank the stars!" She smiles and then pauses. "Huh...good point. The bike I mean." She goes to pick up the kitten who is much more sedate. And begins to purr as she turns to head back upstairs. "Let me put on real clothes and store her in my room, yeah?"
"Vyvian. I think his name is Vyvian, or just Vyv, or hey you. Or Big cheater drunken... poo-poo head." With a childish grin, he turns around and cleans the can and the mess the kitten's left on the counter, swiping missed tuna bits into his hand and then into the trash. "I think Lyric was there too. She was complaining about her tongue, he says while brushing his hands clean. Then he follows the ladies upstairs, "I dunno, you look fine to me, but again, I'd like you in a burlap sack."
"Oh! Yes. She was there too. I only briefly saw many faces," Kailey says with a nod. Into her room she goes and the kitten is set into the makeshift catbox. Then she is peeling out of her art clothes. Upon her work table is a watercolor piece. Not yet finished . It is a lush garden scene with the two characters at the center still just light pencil sketch and white paper. It appears to be a satyr and a faerie surrounded by a flurry of butterflies.
Flerken begins to skitter about in the box while Kailey grabs a bra and shirt and stretchy yoga pants. Then come the doc martens. She really does get dressed quick. And by the time she is done the kitten it taking an actual squat in the papers. "Oh! Good Flerken," She praises as she picks up her hoodie and smiles. "Ready!"
Following inside, Everett stops after the door and closes but doesn't shut it. Instead, there's a peer at the kitten, watching it for a moment and just like she said, the curious little thing plays in its paper litter and he smirks quickly, as he leans again the wall. But his attention is turned towards Kailey. To say he doesn't watch. Doesn't follow her exposed curves, both old and new. Doesn't softly stroke her with his gaze the way he would his rough hands. That would be a lie. Nostrils flare as he gives a sigh and he's caught daydreaming while looking at her. So much so that when she asks him if he's ready, Everett shakes his head to clear whatever he's thinking about and blinks several times. "Hmm? Yes, she's very pretty. But not nearly as you are." Pushing from the wall, Everett opens the door again and holds it open for her. "You look ready. Work first?"
Kailey nods her head and before she passes wraps her arms around his neck. Pulling him down for a real kiss. Lingering and loving. There was no doubt she noticed his gaze. And maybe slowed down a bit to let those green orbs rove. Now? She kisses him. There is promise in that kiss. "Ready!" And she turns to wave at the kitten. Which has lept up onto the bed and is making bisquits. "Bye Fler, be good!" As if!
Kitten? What kitten. Everett's hands slip around Kailey's waist as she comes over. He leans down a little, pulled down the remainder of the way, there's a sound of surprise; interested surprise as he's kissed and melts into her. His hands slide down from around her waist as he cups her, looking to cash that promise in. Now. Until she pulls away to say that one word. "Yeah," he murmurs, looking at the biscuit making kitten, while speaking to her. "I'm ready now," he murmurs, reaching down to make an adjustment, "Damn."
Kailey pauses and looks down as well. Playfully she reaches out to pat him. "You always are," She tells him, voice a little husky, a little playful. Then she continues out and takes the stairs down with giddy, fast steps. In a staccato pattern down she goes. Clop clop cloppity clop. "Come on Daddy!" She calls over her shoulder. Another day another adventure.
He gives a soft murmur, "Well when you kiss me like that..." then rest of his sentence is lost, taking a last look at the kitten, then closing the door behind him. And she better be fast because if he catches her, she'll pay for that. "Grr," he crouches down, getting into stalking mode, "if I catch you, I'll show you just who Daddy is," he growls the unusual threat and desends the stairs quickly, "And don't think the car is safe neither. Where'd you go, Kiki? I'm going to mess you up." Fully intending on chasing her to the garage and maybe even around the car with a broad grin.
Kailey giggles playfully as she ducks into garage. And around to the other side of his grungy car. "Oh is that so?" She calls cheerfully. The little minx is smiling with pure mischief as she lays with a braid. Then she ducks down before he comes into the garage, sneaking around the car and trying to keep out of sight. Of course giggling doesn't help...

"This was much easier when it was just my loft," Everett calls from outside the garage. With a sing-song voice, he looks around the kitchen a little, before wandering into the front hall and looking at the door. And then living room. "~ Youuuu hhoooo. Where ARREEE yyyouuuuu? ~"
Slowly he narrows it down, and maybe he should have known to start in the garage. Closing the door behind him, the gorilla murmurs, "~ I'm gunna fiiIIiind you. And then I'm gunna kiiIIiiss youuuu. ~"

<FS3> Marginal Victory for Everett. (Rolled by: Kailey)
Kailey can be sneaky when she wants to be. Right now she sort of wants to be. As she slips around to try and sneak up behind Everett. But even doc martens can only be so quiet. There's that scuffing of her feet. Creeping up behind him with every intent to pounce him before he does her.
Some guys have all the luck.
Some guys have all the pain.
Some guys get all the breaks.
And some girls get guys that are good sports. Even though she's been given awake, Everett pounces behind the corner of his car she was behind, "Ah-ha! -- aww! Where could she be?" he asks, standing up and scratching his head. "I know you're in here somewhere. I can sense the hotness." Lowering into a crotch again, he starts to creep around his car, heading the way she took to sneak up behind him.
Kailey pounces! As Everett crouches her arms go around his waist. "Gotcha!" She says with a faux cackle. "You're mine now," She leans in to press a kiss to the back of his neck, "Daddy," She whispers coyly in his ear. Then he is released and she turns to run back around the car. Of course, Everett is a quick and wiley man with reach. And she isn't moving -as- fast as normal...
"Oh nnooOOoo," the ape cries with as best as he can to make it believable. When she says he's hers, he's quick to twist his hips and wrap his arms around her shoulders, "I wouldn't have it any other way, darling," he says with deep sincerity. The kiss to his neck earns her a soft shiver, but he's not going to let her go this time. This time he pins her against his old Grand Prix to murmur, bringing his lips mere inches to hers, "Now what can I do to reward you for catching me?" His left-hand holds the fender, while his right slips between her and her yoga pants while he wiggles his brows. "What." He looks down at her lips. "To," and looks back up. "Doooo," his lips pucker while he squirms his hand behind and gives her a firm squeeze of her left cheek. Such a shame she's not attractive anymore with that baby bump.
Kailey makes a soft sound of surprise as he grabs and bodily moves her. A giggle is caught in her throat as Everett gropes, turning into a soft squeek. "A kiss I think," She tells him. Reaching up to grab the collar of his jacket, pulling him as close as her belly will allow. This time she is more than happy to stay put. A long and slow kiss. Oh sure there's passion in there, but it isn't so much that Kailey greedily devours him as she tastes and samples. Lips and tongue playing delicately together as the metal of the car grows warm beneath her. They might be awhile getting to work...
