2020-04-28 - A threat to the house

It happens to all of them, at some point in the day ... They all awaken to a scraping sound at first on the windows of their rooms, like a branch scraping the glass. Then, the sound of footfalls, and Beans dog cinder barking. She rarely barked, for she was deaf and could not hear herself ; it in itself was an odd noise. As each of you opens your door you see shadows moving along the wall, thickening and moving a moth flutters its wings... a flash of psychedelic eyes appear on the wall deep green and yellow swirling - staring.

As its eyes catch you fear floods your very person, the shadow creeps forward - reforming itsself and reaching for the girls.

A loud and shrill scream rips through the house. Kailey's to be exact though it could be hard to tell. She's never screamed in that way before. High and hysterical. It was followed almost instantly with the loud bang of her door slamming. The kitten, puffed up and hissing, has already fled for the closet.

The scraping at the windows is easily ignored as trees scratching to be let in.
It isn't until Cinder makes noise that Everett grunts in his room; a sound with deep irritation. "It's like a fucking zoo," he murmurs to the ceiling of his canopy. Adding dark thoughts about little puppies, he bolts out of his bed when he hears the scream. Heavy footfalls on hardwood floors while he crosses his bedroom and throws open his door. Only to pause. "Fuck that," says the thug, before he takes a step back and slams the door closed, and then locks it.

Bean also screams, and then to see Ev to open his door then shut it terrifies her even more "EV .... help!" she calls as The growl of cinder is heard as she charges the shadows, which creep.

Its like a bad acid trip, the thing strobes in green lights flickering to yellow alternating, growing stronger, it reaches for Bean who grabs one of the vaces and throws it at the shadow-monster. "Help help!"

Kailey hears Bean crying for help and for a second, two, she is shaking and terrified. Then she whirls and grabs the bat she always keeps near the bed. She doesn't want to do this. Nope. But she opens the door and launches at the shadow-monster. Screaming her terror into courage as she bring the metal core wood baseball bat towards the darkness. "EEEV!" She shouts shrilly.

Him. He's being screamed for.
"Aww. Fuck," he murmurs. His gaze looks up for a quick, silent prayer before he looks around. Whatever he's looking for he doesn't find it and turns around. And that's when he sees his leather jacket. Rummaging around inside the inside pockets, he pulls out a white set of brass knuckles and slips them on his right hand.

His door is thrown open, for the second time. Standing before the doorframe, Everett points with his left hand even while Kailey's swinging, clad in his boxer-briefs. "Nobody fucks with these girls but me!"

The strobing lights are all to much for Bean who is stunned. The shadows begin to wrap around the small woman, encircling her, in thick dark coils.... One coil and then another until only a shadowy space of darkness lingers in what was once Beans place... the thing flashes, and extends out its reach for Kailey. But then it just ate the housemate.

"Hey!" exclaims the giant, before he ducks under the doorframe, "what'd I tell you about gropin' my girls?" To Kailey he gestures with his empty left hand, waving her back to get her to back up as the large man squares off towards the shadow, his own body, unbeknownst to him, seeking to protect itself from the foolhardiness that the thug keeps throwing himself into. "And spit out the redhead, or I'll whoop your ass. Last warning, motherfucker."

Kailey is trembling. There is definitely fear there but her teeth and gritted and lips pulled back angrily. The bat swing misses and so instead she stumbles back and flings one hand up and open, Jedi-style. "Bean run!"

Kailey hisses as her hand is struck by the shadow thing. Pulling it back briefly against her chest with a whimper. The bat is held out in front of her defensively. "Bean, w-we're coming," She's trying to be brave and then she has a better idea. "EV!" And tosses him her baseball bat. The better to focus on shielding herself for the moment. He'll know how to use it better anyway.

He wastes no further words, not when he sees the shadow creature attack Kailey, right in her rings. The initial hesitation, the fear, that's all gone and replaced with a rage. "YOU FUCK!", he says, spitting the words as he looks over his shoulder to see that it tagged the heavily pregnant woman. Two heavy steps are taken while he pulls his right arm back, armed with the bulletproof knuckles, fuck baseball bats. He's going to tear this thing apart with his bare hands.

Pain and fear and something primal focus Kailey in. Eyes going pale with her emotions as she snarls and makes a yanking gesture with her hands at the shadowy thing. Everett has his hands. She has her Jedi-Force tricks, as she likes to think of them.

Everett's head turns, twisting this way and that, trying to get the polychrome colours out of his face so he can see the stupid thing. "Fuckin' fucker with fucking mother--", Everett's all brawn and no brains. But give the raging bull a target and he's going to try to punch a hole through it.

Kailey isn't exactly thinking anymore either. He thoughts are defeat this thing. If they can defeat it they can get Bean back. Her mind circles again and again on these things as she goes dark with a wordless shout of anger. Sparks flying from her hair to gather and fling at the shadow. Cute and sweet she most certainly is not right now.

Finally. Gritting his teeth, and squinting his eyes through the swirling colors, Everett focuses on protecting what's his. Now that he's lay hands on it, the brute uses his left hand, for better or worse, to grab the amorphous blob. The colors swirl around while his arm pulls back and then he feels the attempt at it tugging on his mind and the only color the giant sees then. IS RED .

POW!

A solid punch the white knuckles sink into the shadow and cause it to disburse, like ash floating on wind.
