End of another round of over time shift coverage for Devlin yet again. He is in his civies and to judge by his damp hair, he's freshly showered also though a little sauce on his chin hints at having snagged a bite of something Italian. He makes his way over to the bar and settles at a seat as he waits for the bar tender to come by.

Usually quiet and not inclined to fill up on a Wednesday, this place proves a perfect spot for those looking to wind down in as close to a stress free environment as can be found.

And so it is with the Assistant District Attorney who comes through the door. She is still fully made up in her 'uniform' of an impeccable heather gray suit and heels. Her hair is still tied up as it's likely been all day. She likewise makes for the bar and scootches onto a stool. She puts in a quiet order to the bartender.

Quiet is what the Paramedic ordered, after all been a couple of runs today associated with foolish individuals running a foul of law enforcement and paying a price for it. Seems DA out ranks Paramedic on a night like this but he does make his order for Devil's Cut double on the rocks and bar snacks. Recognizing her, he gives Cassidy a polite smile and nod. "Evening Counselor."

Cassidy looks over with sharp blue eyes and assesses Devlin like he's evidence. "I don't get recognized very often. Are you an officer?" or a reporter but she doesn't ask that.

The blonde's drink arrives - a simple glass of red - and she thanks the bartender.

"Paramedic," is his reply as he gets his drink, followed by a Thanks to the bartender. "Saw you a few times when you were on the war path over .." he pauses perhaps to be polite, "when an officer got overly enthused on an interrogation. Came close to being called as a witness on one but seems my notes were enough." He takes a sip, "Yeess.. that hits the spot." His wings and cheese sticks arrive. "Better a witness than a defendant."

Cassidy watches him as she takes her first sip. Her eyes narrow ever so slightly then widen again. She shakes her head, "I don't remember you."

"Paramedic's a shitty job though. Especially here I imagine. I don't envy it." Pause. "But also better than being a defendant." She smiles when she gets to the punchline.

That gets a nod from Devlin, "Yeah.. just don't add politics and I am happy. Here isn't so bad. Did four tours as a 68 Whiskey with the 82nd. Granted, at least here you don't have to worry about IEDs, snipers, and a host of other issues." He chuckles some, "I think Afghanistan was safer for me than L.A. in the end." He takes a bite from the food he has.

"Yeah I hear LA is a shithole." Cassidy turns her head to catch a glimpse of the TV and the closed captioned news. Just a very brief look there, then back to Devlin. "What did you say your name was?"

Devlin says, "Sorry about that, used to people knowing me or first name on the collar and last over the pocket .." Devlin chuckles some. "Devlin McCloud, Counselor."

"Cassidy," the woman says with a friendly smile. Yes, she is capable of those!

Devlin says, "Good to meet you, Cassidy. Heard a few rumors you were the cause of the need for extra sugar by the boys in blue." He chuckles, "So do I need to stock up on insulin now?" He takes a sip of his drink. "Or get a coffee maker installed in my truck?"

Cassidy laughs softly and reaches for her wine. A few blonde tresses find their way into her eyeline and she gently pushes them back. "I think the EMTs are safe," she confides with a subtle lean.

She sits back up, "Besides - I think the boys at the precinct can deal with a little girl. They must be stuffing their faces for another reason entirely."

Devlin laughs, "I'm not worried.. just figured getting a jump on diabetic cops might be a good idea.. and having caffeine just in case of sugar crashes too." He chuckles a bit, "I figured we paramedics and EMTs were safe.. unless we piss off a state senator.." at that his eyes roll abit with a hint there of old stress showing itself in his expression for a moment.

"I think the State Rep would prefer to pretend this town didn't exist." Cassidy giggles. "I know I would." She shakes her head, "Just stock some extra smelling salts and redbull and tell any of them that collapse to walk it off."

hhmmmms, "Not sure if they'll cover RedBull in the budget. " Devlin grins, "So.. would it be out of line to offer to sell a can at 5 a pop if I am supplying them from my pocket?"

"Maybe just check their blood pressure and give a pat on the head then." Cassidy says after a playful, silent, moment of reconsideration.

Devlin chuckles, "Oh that would piss off Ruiz to no end.." He sips his drink, "Hope that business tends towards slow and boring for you in this town. Not to mention, I do wonder if Rod Serling works in your office or someone's else higher up the way things happen around here."

"Slow? Boring?" Cassidy gives an 'are you serious' look. "With all the murders and missing persons in this town?" She laughs once and downs the rest of her wine.

There is an evil grin on Devlin's part, "Remember whom your talking to.. been in fire fights more times than I care to remember." He shrugs a bit as he takes a drink, "That is were exciting for me starts." He then shrugs, "I do admit.. surprised this place isn't on the list of murder capitals base off per capita."

"There's a lot I don't understand about this town," Cassidy agreeably sighs. She eyes her empty glass. "Like why my wine hasn't refilled itself yet..." she snaps at the bartender with a haugty 'what gives?' look and then says thanks when it's fixed.

"So unless it's a literal war zone you're bored. Is that it?" turning her attention back to the paramedic.

Devlin says, "Oh, I am not bored, plenty of our citizens love to see if they can survive a Darwin Award moment.. and I get to see if I can deny Darwin his prize. That is never boring.. definitely interesting. Now one thing I am grateful about this place is that there is a lack of extreme gang violence. I got chewed out once for leaving my truck before the cops arrived to secure things. Banger was bleeding out and the clock was running."

"Rules is rules," Cassidy says flatly at the anecdote. She smiles and lifts her shoulders and turns her palms up. "But you're right. For the most part the violence isn't spilling out into the street..." "For the most part."

Devlin nods, "Not that the Reaper cares about our rules. Sometimes to beat that bastard, you have to push things." He winks, "There was a bit more to my problem. It was the gentleman that shot my patient. He was under the mistaken impression that holding a weapon made him in charge of my patient's fate. I managed to convince him otherwise with the help of three lengths of five-fifty cord to keep him still. My supervisor was not amused, the senior officer on site was." He shrugs as he finishes his drink and nibbles on the last of the snackage. "The LA County DA had a good laugh."

"Oh those guys must be tough as nails down there," Cassidy assumes aloud about the LA District Attorney. "The Assistants DAs, I mean. Not the ones you can vote out of office. They're pussies. Like ours is." The last sentence she whispers as an aside to Devlin, for his ears only. "Don't quote me on that."

Devlin smirks, "Sounds like this Major I knew in supply over in CosCom at Ft. Bragg.. started talking shit at a bar with a bunch of grunts from the platoon I was assigned to. And yes, the ass was drunk. He was doing ok until he tried to punch the guy next to me. I grabbed his arm to stop him. He then tried to punch me. Well, would have restrained him.. but do you know what happens when you attack the medic for a platoon of grunts." Devlin cringes, "It wasn't pretty." He sighs, "Well, I better head off to home and get some sleep. Oh.. I seem to recall Mr. DA, that guy that retired last year was talking all sorts of shit about you, Sir. I'm amazed you let him retire.." He then shrugs with a wink, "besides.. no one as attractive as you would ever hold an opinion like that. Had to be that guy.."
