Vic knows that Seth had a meeting with Joey at the gym, in the office. Not the one that the normal gym people see, but the real office that is located downstairs. The one with the drain. He let her know, so just in case he didn't come back for whatever reason she at least had a reasonable suspicion what might have happened to him, it is the least he could really do.
So when the front door opens and he comes shambling into the house it is obvious it wasn't a retirement meeting. At least not his retirement. "Vic?" he calls out, "You home?"
Tossing his keys onto the counter Seth makes his way to the fridge to grab himself a beer before he shambles over towards the living room to take a load off, removing his jacket and sliding out of the shoulder rig to set onto the table next to him.
Vic didn't seem overly concerned about the meeting. She knows Felix really well, and she knows Joey pretty well. Joey is not Felix. Joey doesn't tend to make examples of his own people, and he certainly doesn't punish the ones doing their jobs. When he calls out, she comes down the stairs, toweling wet hair, in sweats and a cropped tee, clearly fresh from a shower.
"I'm here, using up all your hot water," she quips at him, giving him a look over for any injuries. Satisfied he's healthy, she grins. "So you're not retired. This is good."
"Yeah, the early retirement plan sucks. I opted for working a few more years and then maybe getting a mention instead...but it means I have to go to Spokane," the enforcer quips to Vic, popping the top of his beer and taking a sip. "So, pack your bags because I am going to take you with me. Share the misery as it were." He lifts up a little manilla envelope and tosses it onto the coffee table in front of him, "Seems we have ourselves someone who does some flesh peddling and Joey wants a discussion. Or not, depending on the circumstances."
"Spokane?" Vic asks, wrinkling her nose in distaste. "Shit, retirement might have been preferable. What dipshit sets up shop in fucking Spokane?" she asks, looping the towel over her shoulders as she moves to pick up the envelope to peruse it's contents. Flesh peddling has her expression going sharp.
"Sex trafficking? I may be more inclined to communicate with my fists," she grumbles. But Joey knows that, so he can't be too worried about what condition the guy in question is delivered to him.
"I think it is our discretion as to whether or not we take him to go see Joey or just make him vanish. Joey didn't seem too worried about actually being able to talk to the guy, but I think that is the preference for as little the needle points that way." Seth says as he leans against the wall and sips at his beer. "I'm going to kneecap him regardless just for making me have to go to Spokane, doubly so if I have to spend the night...but hey, I can at least take you to see the waterfalls right? Those are supposed to be romantic." He deadpans the joke for a moment, but the crack of his smile gives it away.
"Hopefully it will be a quick in and out, but we may be there a bit. Joey did say if we find any merchandise, we let them go...like duh. If we find the buyers, well, I don't think Joey will miss those guys either."
Seth takes a seat on the couch and kicks his feet up, "You don't have to go if you don't want. I can handle it on my own if you would rather just stay here and deal with the Twofer. Speaking of, any ideas when Easton and Bennie are getting back? Or are they back and I am just out of the loop?"
"We are totally using some of your beach money and staying at one of the fucking casinos," Vic insists. She sifts through the paperwork, frowning at details. "We need to find his supply chain. He may be hosting the festivities to sell them, but someone is bringing them in, and they'll just bring them to someone else if they aren't stopped." And by stopped she means slaughtered in such a horrific manner that no one even considers picking up where they left off.
"So yeah, we'll be there a little while. And our hands are gonna get real dirty." Worth it. Totally worth it. "They're back, so I can take some time off. Marshall knows who I really work for, he won't make a fuss."
Seth nods, taking another pull from the bottle. "It's a good thing I haven't moved all of that over to Rhys yet then. Had this come across my lap in a couple more days all that cash would be in his vault and being turned into something less prone to turning back into seaweed. Oh, and I am going to donate about a quarter to Ravn's charity...because why the fuck not. Do something good with it...balance the ledger as it were."
Setting the bottle down onto the side table, Seth leans back and closes his eyes, "I'm with you. We cut the cord on this in such a way it can't just be reattached. The only way to be sure, but it is certainly going to draw heat. This isn't in the Harbor where shit like this tends to just kinda get obfuscated by design. We are going to have to be careful on this one."
"Yeah, I'm thinking of doing some volunteering at the center myself. Clear some of that red from the ledger and, well, this is Gray Harbor. You know a charitable organization is going to piss off the bad guys on the other side, and they're gonna fuck with it because it brings hope to people." Vic scowls at that, but she puts the papers back in the envelope and tosses it back on the table.
"Our abilities will be weaker there, but I'm still a former cop with a degree in forensics. No one will be able to trace it back to us in any way. Plus, law enforcement, even the media, seem to give less of a shit when bad things happen to really, really bad people." She sinks down next to him on the couch with a sigh.
As Vic sits down, Seth slips his arm around her to pull her gently to his side, "Yeah, true on all counts. I am sure things will go off fine. If they don't we will deal with it. Joey made it clear to call him if anything happened...but I am not going to make that call unless I really, really have too. I say we give ourselves an hour or so, then pack and hit the road. Sooner we get this done, the sooner we are out of godforsaken Spokane."
"I'll call your cousin. Felix has rooms pretty much all over the state at hotels under pseudonyms. I'll get one for Spokane, hopefully at the casino," Vic notes as she leans in to kiss his cheek then lay her head on his shoulder. "Pack light. I can put your weapons in my purse." All of them. In one small purse. It's good to be dating a Physicalist. "Just stuff you can carry with you if we have to make a hasty exit through the Veil."
"Nothing more than a go-bag, as per the usual," replies Seth as he takes the moment to relax with Vic, talking with her like they are planning a vacation rather than what could be a bloody mess. "You know me, I only pack a change of clothes, and the only reason I do that even is that I need something clean to change into if I get all messy."
He nods at Vic as she mentions getting a room somewhere, "Alright, I'll handle transportation. I'll get us something unassuming, I've got the cash on hand to go pick up something used and by the time the fake paperwork is submitted, the job will be over. SUV or minivan?"
"No one looks twice at a minivan, even if I can't pass for a soccer mom on my worst day," Vic quips with a snort. She takes the moment to relax and regather herself, preparing to go into 'work mode' so to speak. Then she'll make her call and get them registered in a Premiere Suite at Northern Quest Resort and Casino as Mr. and Mrs. Callahan.
"Oh I don't know, " Seth says as he joins her in getting ready, "I could see you on the real housewives of some city with a millionaire husband and 2.5 kids." Seth laughs, "I'll just have to get a high-end minivan. Something European, Mrs. Callahan?"
Vic snort and nips at his shoulder. "Something boring and unnoticeable, please, Mr. Callahan. Let's go check out that warehouse first." She finally sighs once more and gets up, to go back and get dressed for malevolence.
Seth grins, "Fair enough," he says, playfully swatting at her rear as he moves to follow her upstairs to change. "Volkswagon it is."
